Russians erect statue of Putin as a Roman emperorThere’s a group of Russians in Vladimir Putin’s hometown who love their leader so much that they are erecting a statue of him in the likeness of a Roman emperor — complete with plated military armor and a flowing toga.
“We planned for quite a while to do a project like this,” design manager Andrey Polyakov told Central European News. “Putin is [Russia’s] wisdom, its courage, and its symbol which is embodied in the image of the Emperor that we have created.”
It’s hard not to think of Julius Caesar when gazing upon the clay version of the Russian president’s bust, made by sculptor Pavel Greshnikov. The 42-year-old says the decision to use the classical design commonly associated with Roman statues was an obvious one based on the personality and achievements of Putin.
Julius Caesar conquered lands and it was basically because of him that Rome became an empire.
Vladimir Putin has long wanted to be the ruler of his version of the Russian side of the ‘Holy Roman Empire’ (Putin claimed to be re-establishing ‘Third Holy Roman Empire,’ but that is happening elsewhere). Notice also:

Russia annexed Crimea last year and has been involved in the conflict with Ukraine. Vladimir Putin’s Eurasian Union officially went in affect on January 1, 2015.

In Russia, the old saying goes, the czar is always right. Whether an imperial Romanov, a Soviet commissar or President Vladimir Putin, no matter how harsh the regime, Russians have traditionally viewed their leaders as virtually infallible. Contrary to the logic that oppression breeds discontent, Russians have endured some of the worst despots in history, yet they have a near-apocalyptic fear of change of power. The end of a regime promises not hope but a cataclysm.
Throughout Russian history, the population has supported its leaders regardless of the policies they implement, often despite them. This explains the Russian people’s enduring devotion to a ‘;strong hand’; ruler, and their equal distrust of pluralist democracy. In addition, when the ‘;other’; — for example, the United States or European Union — lectures the Kremlin on its oppressive politics, Russians band together even more tightly behind their ruler. German leaders have sometimes used the title Kaiser, whereas Russian ones Czar. In both cases, they are trying to imply they are conquering emperors in the image of Julius Caesar.
But simply claiming the title is not enough. Normally they tend to build/support their militaries to back themselves up. Russia is trying to do that.
So, will Russia be the predominant force that will destroy the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand?
No, Bible prophecy indicates that will be led by a European power (Daniel 11:39), though Asian forces will likely be involved (especially related to Australia and New Zealand). It is highly likely that the next ‘Caesar’ will be German (see also Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).
Russia is a military threat, however, to several parts of the world. For a time, it will likely have a treaty with Europe–but this will not last (cf. Daniel 11:44). Ultimately a Russian-influence coalition will destroy much of Europe (Jeremiah 50 & 51). However, that will not happen until towards the end of the ‘Day of the Lord.’ An event over seven years in the future from now (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin? The ‘Day of the Lord’?).
But Vladimir Putin is trying to prepare Russia for that now. His allowance of the portrayal of himself a a Tsar/Czar is an outward indication of how he views his role.
