EU Council President Donald Tusk is warning that US President Donald Trump is one of the major threats to the European Union:

European Council President Donald Tusk said on Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump has joined Russia, China and radical Islam among threats to Europe and called on Europeans to stick together to avoid domination by three other continental powers.
In a letter to national leaders before a summit that he will chair in Malta on Friday to prepare the Union’s future after Britain leaves, the conservative former Polish prime minister said Trump’s more protectionist trade policy offered the EU a chance and it should do more now to set up free trade deals.
Saying the EU faces its biggest challenges in its 60-year history, Tusk said an “assertive China”, “Russia’s aggressive policy” toward its neighbors, “radical Islam” fuelling anarchy in the Middle East and Africa were key external threats. These, he said, “as well as worrying declarations by the new American administration, all make our future highly unpredictable”.
Tusk’s remarks were among the strongest directed at the new U.S. president since Trump took office 11 days ago and reflects a growing sense in many European capitals of a need to respond to his policy moves, notably the ban at the weekend on the entry of refugees and others from seven Muslim-majority countries.

The European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator said Donald Trump’s presidency is the newest threat to the European Union.
Speaking to a group of scholars at a public policy institute in London, Guy Verhofstadt said the EU is facing a three-pronged attack from radical Islamists, Russia’s Vladimir Putin and now US President Trump.
“I have just come back from US and my view is that we have a third front that is undermining the EU… and that is Donald Trump,” Verhofstadt said in a speech at the Chatham House think-tank.

So, now we have two EU leaders, in the past two days, stating that Donald Trump is one of the biggest threats to Europe. A real divide between Europe and the USA is taking place. Despite the fact that the EU and USA will pretend to get along at times, this will not end well for the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39).
Although there long have been differences, beginning with the Snowden leaks related to the Obama Administration, and now with a Donald Trump Administration, the divide between Europe and the USA is growing.
There will be major ramifications.

Following Peter Navarro’s accusations of German manipulation of the euro (and the surge in the EUR relative to the USD), Angela Merkel has responded by explaining implicitly ‘it’s not my fault. U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to raise import barriers and scrap free-trade deals raises the risk of a bruising trade war. More than 60 per cent of all American trade is conducted with just seven nations.
Responding to Trump’s threat to trade relations — an order that has prevailed since the end of World War II — some American trading partners are already looking for new sources of trade and investment. Many are looking to China to fill the leadership vacuum in world affairs.
Jeroen Dijsselbloem, president of the 19-member Eurogroup, responded to Trump’s threats by saying “Chinese involvement in Europe regarding investment is already very high and expanding. In his confused worldview, Trump sees the EU and Germany as economic competitors that must be beaten. In the eyes of his very roughly hewn administration, Germany, with its high US trade surplus, is seen as the root of all evil. Trump seeks to turn back the US trade deficit with half-baked slogans such as “buy American, hire American.” He wants to create new taxes and tariffs whether these make economic sense or not. Thus, the EU must prepare itself for a trade war the likes they have never seen.

This talk of trade wars is something I have warned about on this page for years. Notice something I posted back in 2008:
Negotiations will continue and some type of loose agreements will happen. In the spirit of accommodation and personal interest, many of the “standards” of the European Union will be adopted by the USA, Canada and Mexico, as well as by nearly all of the countries of the world. The Arab nations will most likely agree with many of the standards as they seem to be destined to form a brief end-time alliance with the Europeans (The Arab World In the Bible, History, and Prophecy).
However, over time, it will become increasingly clear that the British will be in more agreement with the Canadians and Americans and that the European Union in more agreement with the Mexicans than the EU will have with the English-speaking nations.
Trade wars and/or serious trade disputes will most likely arise.
The Brits will ultimately decide that they are more supportive of the Americans and Canadians. They will be so much more supportive that they will end up in a trading agreement with them (with the Australians and New Zealanders probably also becoming part of that agreement).
The EU will decide that Mexico and the rest of Latin America are in more agreement with it and thus make some type of serious trading agreement with most (or all) of Latin America. The Vatican will also have influence here as Latin America is highly Roman Catholic.
