Islamic State accused of using ‘mustard gas,’ which suggests that the USA did not get all chemical weapons in Syria destroyed as claimed; London, Berlin, and Rome threatened

The group calling itself the Islamic State has been accused of using the chemical weapon known as ‘mustard gas’:
State media in Syria have accused militants from so-called Islamic State (IS) of using mustard gas against government forces in the north-east.

‘Chemicals in rockets’
Reporting on Monday night, the Syrian state news agency Sana said, “Daesh [IS] terrorists attacked Deir al-Zour military airport with rockets carrying mustard gas, causing some people to suffocate.” …
Last month IS was suspected of carrying out a mustard gas attack on the northern Iraqi town of Taza, killing three children and wounding hundreds of people.
It is also reported to have used mustard gas against rebels in Marea, northern Syria, and against Kurdish Peshmerga fighters in northern Iraq last August.
Sulphur mustard – commonly known as “mustard gas” although it is liquid at ambient temperature – is a powerful irritant and blistering agent which causes severe damage to the skin, eyes and respiratory system and internal organs.
The Syrian government has itself been repeatedly accused of perpetrating chemical weapons attacks, something it vehemently denies.

A specially equipped U.S. ship has finished neutralizing all 600 metric tons of the most dangerous of Syria’s chemical weapons components surrendered to the international community this year to avert threatened airstrikes, the Pentagon said on Monday.
It said the Cape Ray, equipped with the U.S.-developed Field Deployable Hydrolysis System, neutralized 581.5 metric tons of DF, a sarin precursor chemical, and 19.8 metric tons of HD, an ingredient of sulfur mustard, while afloat in the Mediterranean.
The vessel will travel to Finland and Germany in the next two weeks to unload the resulting effluent, which will undergo treatment as industrial waste to render it safer, a Pentagon spokeswoman said.
It was the first time chemical weapons components had been neutralized at sea, the Pentagon said.

While a lot of mustard gas was destroyed a couple of years ago, if mustard gas was used in Syria yesterday, obviously there still are chemical weapons in Syria, despite efforts by the Obama Administration to eliminate them.
That being said, the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Islamic State may indicate increased desperation on its part.

Islamic State militants have suffered a series of reversals in northern Syria, both at the hands of rebel fighters and forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, that saw the terror group lose control of strategic territory bordering Turkey and withdraw from a town southeast of Homs, according to rebel fighters and political activists.
The clashes coincided with renewed targeting by U.S.-led coalition warplanes of IS positions in the northern Aleppo countryside and airstrikes from Russian warplanes in eastern Syria that reportedly left at least 40 militants dead.
Coming just days after Russian-backed regime forces recaptured the town of Palmyra from the militants, the accumulating battlefield losses for the terror army represent a serious setback for an organization that once boasted it would “remain and expand.”
Palmyra, known as the City of Palms, was an important way station along with its modern concrete neighbor of Tadmur on the IS supply line from Iraq’s Anbar province to Homs province in Syria through the city of Deir al-Zor.
IS has failed to pull-off a successful large-scale ground offensive in Syria since May 2015 when it captured Palmyra after a lightning offensive across the desert and has lost more than a fifth of the territory it once controlled in the war-savaged country, U.S. officials and independent analysts calculate. …
Signs of lawlessness
With military pressure mounting on IS and battlefield setbacks accumulating briskly there are signs of increasing lawlessness in the group’s stronghold of Raqqa, where activists from the anti-IS network Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently say there has been a sharp rise in robbery and thefts — an indication that the tight control IS has on the city may be slipping amid a manpower shortage. It has been press-ganging local youngsters into joining, say activists.
The terror group has reacted to dissent and robbery with a spate of gruesome executions. Since Wednesday, when coalition warplanes killed a top IS commander Abu al-Haija, one of a string of high-ranking jihadist leaders in recent weeks targeted by the U.S.-led coalition, 15 of the group’s lower-ranking commanders have been executed. They were accused of revealing Abu al-Haija’s position to the coalition.
“This is the highest number of executions of security officials by IS,” according to Abdel Rahman of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Islamic State is having problems. Presuming it used mustard gas, this will likely increase international resolve to eliminate it.

A group affiliated with the Islamic State released a new video on Monday threatening further attacks in the West, listing London, Berlin and Rome as possible targets.
The video, titled ‘Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands,’ encourages extremists to ‘kill [infidels] wherever you find them.’

Europe is getting more and more concerned about the Islamic State.
Many in the USA and Europe want the Arab nations to form a permanent confederation to deal with the Islamic State as well as other terrorist organizations. Interestingly, the Bible tells of a confederation of peoples in the Middle East and North Africa that will arise and then fall:
40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels. (Daniel 11:40-43)
Despite statements from the Islamic State being an international caliphate, since 2014 I have written that I do not believe that Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi would be the final King of the South. The Islamic State will be defeated.
Yet, since those involved in supporting the final King of the South are from lands currently dominated by Islam, it remains my position that the actions of the Islamic State are contributing to the rise of the final King of the South of Bible prophecy (Daniel 11:40-43).
The Islamic State will NOT be the final King of the South. Yet a confederation will arise involving many Islamic lands.
While it should be good for the world to see terrorism defeated, there still will be ramifications once the Islamic State is no longer functional as a ‘caliphate.’
