North Korea has been upset about a movie. It allegedly has hacked into Sony Pictures, and now it is threatening the US White House:

President Barack Obama said the United States is reviewing whether to put North Korea back onto its lists of state sponsors of terrorism following a cyber attack on Sony Pictures, which U.S. officials blame on the communist nation.

Speaking on CNN’s State of the Nation, Obama said he did not consider the hack an act of war, but a “very costly, very expensive” example of cyber vandalism.

North Korea is threatening attacks against the U.S. while adamantly denying it had anything to do with the cyber assault that nearly brought down an entire movie studio.

The threats come just as the Obama administration is considering putting the reclusive regime back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism in the wake of hackers infiltrating Sony Pictures, the president told CNN.

The North’s fiery anti-American rhetoric has grown in recent days after the U.S. apparently rebuffed the hermit kingdom’s proposal to work together to find the real hackers responsible for the infiltration of Sony Pictures.

Released Sunday, the statement threatens the “toughest counteraction will be boldly taken against the White House, the Pentagon and the whole U.S. mainland,” CNN is reporting.

“The cesspool of terrorism, by far surpassing the ‘symmetric counteraction’ declared by Obama.”

It appears to have come from the Policy Department of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, one of many official government communications channels.

The government – which was outraged by the film showing the assassination of leader Kim Jong Un – also claimed to have ‘clear evidence’ that the U.S. government engineered the project as a ‘propaganda’ attack against North Korea.

North Korea certainly is capable of terrorism.

North Korea also has nuclear weapons.

And while some may find it hard to believe, North Korea is believed to have the ability to knock out a lot of the USA’s power supply with its electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapon capability (see VOA: ‘US Defenseless Against North Korean EMP Threat’). (This type of weapon may also be used by the coming prophesied King of the South and/or the King of the North.)

The USA, despite its military strength, is vulnerable to being hurt by EMP weapons as well as nuclear weapons, chemical weapons, dirty bombs, terrorism, and biological weapons. Everyone knows that EMPs can basically work as advertised, this may give the North Koreans more reason to look further into using them if they feel pressed.

Of course, if North Korea did so, it would not do well once the USA retaliated. So, North Korea is not likely to carry out much of its current threats. But as it is run by a despotic leader, almost anything is possible.
