Another voice is calling for the European Union to essentially become the United States of Europe:

There will be something resembling a United States of Europe. It will end up destroying the UK as well as the USA. Those who in the Anglo-lands (also including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) who do not repent to the point of becoming Philadelphian Christians do have a lot to fear from this.

In a SPIEGEL interview, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, 67, discusses the German government’s learning curve in the euro crisis and his idea of a United States of Europe. Schröder: The Commission will have to be turned into a government that is controlled, in parliamentary terms, by the European Parliament. That translates into a United States of Europe…Great Britain is causing the biggest problem. Great Britain is not part of the euro, and yet the British always want to have their say in the design of an economic zone.

So, Gerhard Schröder wants a United States of Europe, but Great Britain is causing the biggest problems in its formation. We in the Living Church of God (LCG) have long taught that Britain would ultimately be taken over by the Europeans. The mood among those who have long wanted a united Europe seems supportive of that position. But Gerhard Schröder is not the only one. In October 2002, French politician Valery Giscard d’Estaing suggested that the name of the European Community should be changed to United States of Europe. Furthermore, the European Parliament had a conference entitled “The United States of Europe – Towards a Transnational Society?”–and while that precise name is not necessary, it does show that the Church of God’s basic view has long been correct.

Back when Europe was still recovering from being devastated in World War II, in the December 1948 issue of The Plain Truth Herbert W. Armstrong predicted a coming “United States of Europe” (Armstrong HW. Now It Can Be Told…The Plain Truth, December 1948, p. 5). We in the Living Church of God, of course, continue to warn about this emerging European Beast power in our telecasts and literature.

What seems to be emerging in Europe will become more than simply an economic power, it will be a military and religious one as well (Revelation 13:1-8) (even the EU flag is based on a certain idea about Mary, the mother of Jesus). Despite complaints, problems, and disunity in Europe, it will fulfill its biblically-prophesied role (cf. Daniel 2:41-43). And that will not bode well for the UK, USA, or their Anglo-allies (Daniel 11:39).
