In her speech, which was about the future of the EU, Merkel said: ‘What is really important, if we look at the developments of the past year, is that we have to work on a vision of one day creating a real, true European army. She said the new army would work in conjunction with NATO, but added that ‘only a stronger Europe is going to defend Europe.’ ‘Europe must take our fate into our own hands if we want to protect our community,’ she said. The remark drew widespread applause and a smattering of boos from watching lawmakers. …
If history is any guide to future events, Germany will indeed be the driving force behind the start of WWIII whenever that finally begins. There is just something about the mindset of the German people in Europe that leads them towards dreams of world domination. They came pretty close in WWI, they came frighteningly close in WWII, and one might well imagine the third time just may be the charm.
In 2018, Germany is the de facto leader of the European Union, they have the strongest economy, and now they want to lead an effort to create an European Army to defend themselves from ‘Russia, China and the US’. …

Merkel calls for creation of a ‘real, true’ European army in rebuke to Trump …
Macron made the same suggestion last week in an interview with TV station Europe 1 when he spoke about Russian aggression and Trump’s decision to withdraw from a key Cold War missile pact.
He said: ‘I believe in the project of a sovereign Europe. We won’t protect Europe if we don’t decide to have a true European army.
‘We have to have a Europe that can defend itself alone – and without only relying on the United States in a more sovereign manner.
‘We should protect ourselves when it comes to China, Russia and even the United States of America.’
That last remark angered Trump, who met with Macron on Friday last week and tweeted before the meeting: ‘President Macron of France has just suggested that Europe build its own military in order to protect itself from the US, China and Russia.
‘Very insulting, but perhaps Europe should first pay its fair share of NATO, which the US subsidizes greatly!’
The French government insists that Macron meant Europe needs to protect itself from decisions the US makes – such as withdrawing from the missile treaty – and not from an invasion, though Trump seems to have interpreted it differently. READ MORE

Nigel Farage began his epic tirade by thanking Mrs. Merkel for her immigration policies, “without you, we’ve never had made it over the line with Brexit,” adding that many of the euroskeptic parties from the left, right, and center across Europe will be back in the European Parliament “directly as a result of your [Merkel’s] asylum policy.”
“It’s a European Union that is now to become an empire – a militarized European Union… 100 years on from the Armistice, we should be genuinely worried – the idea that this new militarized union is somehow a recipe for peace means you should all re-read history…”

European leaders are openly calling for a European army and a European empire (see Donald Trump lashes out against Europe defending itself–Europeans pushing for an empire). Leaders in the UK and USA have opposed this.

Are we heading towards an EU army? MEP Luke Ming Flanagan was holding a public meeting to highlight the dangers of Irish people fighting in foreign lands for the EU super-state. Last December, PESCO – Permanent European Security/military Cooperation – was rushed through the Dáil by Fine Gael and Fianna Fail to become Government policy.
What is PESCO?
In a nutshell, PESCO, and the recently-proposed Defence Union, involves a permanent EU army established by 2020 through the harmonisation and standardisation of European armed forces, all leading to the EU’s ability to launch military missions, (aka “autonomous action” ) separate from NATO, as part of the EU’s global strategy to become a ‘global actor’.
This will come at a serious financial cost. … PESCO will increase our military expenditure to an unbelievable €6 billion a year, or half the total health budget. PESCO and a Great European Army
In November 2018, French President Macron called for a “true European army” because of China, Russia, and the USA. Some others in Europe have echoed that sentiment. On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted “a very strong Europe.” Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as “my friend” and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe’s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with “a great army”? Has Donald Trump’s announcement to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say that Europe must rebel against the USA? Is the idea of a United States of Europe and a European army a “paranoid fantasy” or a biblical reality? Will the USA regret Europe becoming a stronger military power? Will the USA be betrayed by “friends” such as its continental European allies? Does the Bible teach any or all of this? Think that the USA military can handle anything? Think again:

A panel of experts has issued a hard-hitting and sober assessment of US President Donald Trump’s National Defense Strategy.
“The global role the United States has played for many generations rests upon a foundation of unmatched military power,” its report says.
“Today however, our margin of superiority is profoundly diminished in key areas.”
“There are,” the study insists, “urgent challenges that must be addressed if the United States is to avoid lasting damage to its national security.”
The National Defense Strategy Commission was tasked by Congress to give an independent, non-partisan review of the Trump administration’s defence strategy. It was chaired by Eric Edelman, a former Pentagon official in George W Bush’s administration, and Admiral Gary Roughead, a former chief of naval operations. These are insiders who know their way around a defence budget, as well as the corridors of the Pentagon.
“The security and wellbeing of the United States are at greater risk than at any time in decades,” the report asserts. “America’s military superiority has eroded to a dangerous degree.” https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46219481
Note that in Lamentions 1:1-2, it indicates that the USA will be betrayed and destroyed militarily by its “friends.” Europe does not have to be stronger in all areas than the USA, only enough to win when the USA is not expecting it.
The late Herbert W. Armstrong wrote about its timing and how he thought it would begin:
World War 3 brings with it THE GREAT TRIBULATION. That is now next in order. But Jesus, in foretelling this chain of world events, said the GREAT TRIBULATION would be preceded by the world-wide proclaiming of HIS Gospel. “The GOSPEL must first be published among all nations,” said Jesus (Mark 13:10), or, as recorded by Matthew (24:14): “This Gospel OF THE KINGDOM shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto ALL NATIONS; and THEN shall the END (of the world) come.” (Armstrong HW. Matthew 24:15…That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. Notice that the UK, USA, and Canada are mentioned in the above writing.
Brexit will be a factor for the end of the UK. Donald Trump is a factor pushing Europe to one day end the USA. And Canada, as a strong ally of the USA and UK will essentially be collateral damage.

The vote by the United Kingdom to leave the European Union on June 23, 2016 (called the Brexit), shocked Europe as did the election of Donald Trump on November 8, 2016.
Europe made progress on its Galileo satellite system (Schmidt F. Galileo navigation satellite system goes live. Deutsche Welle, December 15, 2016) and stellarator projects in late 2016.
The fact that Donald Trump made statements in 2016 that the USA may not be under obligation to defend NATO members that do not pay their share also shocked Europe (Sanger DE, Haberman M. Donald Trump Sets Conditions for Defending NATO Allies Against Attack. New York Times, July 20, 2016).
Add to that the fact that since Donald Trump won the presidential election, various people in Europe are in an uproar. Notice:
President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker has renewed calls for setting up a separate army for the European continent hours after Donald Trump was elected as the 45th President of the US. Juncker said that the EU cannot rely on America in the long run as Washington would not be able to ensure security of Europeans (Sridharan V. Juncker warns EU cannot rely on US and renews call for separate European army after Trump’s victory. IBT, November 10, 2016).
The United Kingdom, was an advocate for the USA and NATO, had vigorously opposed the development of a European army.
Yet citing the Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s election, we are seeing calls for an “autonomous” “European army” (Biscop S, Lindley-French J. DEBATE: What are the real prospects for strengthened European defence? NATO magazine, December 21, 2016; Rettman A. Ceci n’est pas une EU army. EUObserver, January 3, 2017).

A European Union army is not in America’s interests
Germany, France and Italy — cling to delusions of grandeur. They have drawn up plans for a European Union army and deeper EU defense integration, claiming that this will enhance European security.
An EU army, however, is not the solution to Europe’s problems. It will undercut NATO, reduce U.S. influence in Europe, and strengthen the strategic position of Vladimir Putin’s Russia (Gardiner N. European Union army is not in America’s interests. Washington Times, October 31, 2016).
While it is true that such an army will reduce U.S. influence and not work out in America’s interests, it is not delusional to believe that there will be a European army.
Since the Bible says Europe will have a “great army” (Daniel 11:25), Europe will end up with a great army. Donald Trump’s rise has encouraged some in Europe to more publicly promote this idea. Donald Trump seems to be a catalyst for that and other militaristic moves in Europe. …
Donald Trump’s rise has also spurred the Europeans to further unify among themselves, especially when combined with the Brexit vote that Donald Trump encouraged. While the Bible shows the Europeans will have difficulties being together (Daniel 2:41-43), it also shows that they will reorganize and unite (Revelation 17:12-13). Donald Trump has been pointed to by various European leaders as ‘proof’ that Europe needs more unification and distance from the USA. (Thiel B. Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse. Donald Trump and Brexit are factors in Europe developing its military and deciding on its own army.
World events are showing that we are getting closer to the start of the Great Tribulation (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).
WWIII will involve the destruction of the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies and steps are being taken.
