Don't Follow Me!

Latest News

Rom 16:17-18  Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions
and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.
For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their
own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the
hearts of the simple.

Don't Follow Me!

A confession in advance by Dave Pack? Did he pre-warn the Church
of his tactics? Hear it here in his own words:

These two Segments were recorded on December 12, 1998 at the onset of the Global/Living
Split, a full year and approximately five months before the Restored Church of God. The
sermon was titled: "10 Points for the Crisis". There were hundreds of copies of this tape
sent out by David C. Pack.

Segment Number One:

"I want to make a statement about...me...now, if I became deceived, I will never tell you what I'm going to tell you now...I am telling you if I go off into strange ideas, misconduct, rebellion, you name it, don't follow me. I want to tell you that now, because if I start doing that I'm gonna try to get you to follow me! I'm gonna come to you and tell you it doesn't apply, it doesn't mean me, no, no, no, no, no, no, it's OK to follow me because ABCD and XY and Z. Do you understand what I'm saying? Listen to me now, when I tell you don't follow me if I go off into weird ideas, or if I get off into other things that are total absolutely unscriptural conduct, because if I do I'm gonna paint it with a different face and try to get you to follow me. Do you understand what I'm saying brethren? Please remember that, because I promise you that if I become deceived, I'll forget it, and I'll want you to forget it...And I hope you'll remember it well enough to quote it right back to me...But I'll tell you what, I'm not going anywhere."

Segment Number Two:

"This applies to me brethren it's why I said what I said earlier. You have an obligation if I ever turn aside, God will provide another pastor for  you, because Christ said He will never leave or forsake you, if you stop hearing Jesus Christ's voice in my voice, you have the promise you will hear it in somebody else and He will show you what to do. "Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good." That's what we're told to follow, you follow men as they follow Christ [pertaining to Rod Meredith's departure from Global, emphasis mine]. The issue brethren was not primarily doctrine, the issue, believe it or not, was not primarily government. This wasn't a power struggle about who gets to be boss, Board or Chairman of the Board, so to speak. This was about CONDUCT."

December 22, 2000 - The Church of God at Northeast Ohio is offering the Church of God Hymns in a set of four audio CDs that are playable in any CD player. This could be helpful to small Church groups who are without the means to have live music. The CDs are instrumental piano only, no Choral vocals.

September 15, 2000 - Some of you were wondering what the story was behind Don Tiger. Here is the reprint article from the July 31, 2000 issue of The Journal concerning the Don Tiger case.

*As most of the visitors to this web site are aware, all of the original staff at Restored
left the organization due to the same kinds of experiences that Tom Munson had.  In fact,
the group of former employees pursued Matt. 18:15 & I Tim. 5:19 processes with Dave Pack
in an effort to help him to see the problems he caused.  While these actions were being
carried out, we did not let others, besides the elders in Restored, see our resignation letters,
nor did we discuss with others the problems we were bringing up to Dave Pack.

However, it is apparent that these problems have continued at Restored, and, in fact,
have grown worse. We want to help those who are still attending at Restored or who may
be thinking of joining Restored to understand the gravity of the actions occurring there.
Since the Matt. 18 process has run its course and Dave Pack has expressed no repentance
nor has he made any changes (but has become more blatant in his actions), we therefore
decided to post the resignation/termination letters written by the people who left
Restored last October.

We are also posting the letter we sent to the three elders, at that time, in Restored.
Mr. Arlen Berkey discussed it with Dave Pack and was promptly disfellowshipped
(on trumped up charges).  Messrs. Ron Laughland and Peter Denee did not respond,
to our knowledge (at least they did not correspond with us). Signed, ST, JT, DG

In light of the recent events with the resignation of Tom Munson, three of the former
RCG headquarters employees have asked me to post their resignation letters as their
testimony to their experiences during their employ at RCG -- Bill Sheppard*

September 8, 2000 - A lot of people are under the mistaken impression that Dave Pack's conduct
is a recent development. Please be aware that he has had a long history of discord and improper behavior. Please see this section from article in The Ambassador Report entitled "David Pack's Reign of Terror".

September 6, 2000 - Tom Munson resigns from RCG! He gives vivid detail of his experiences over the last eight months of his employ, which seem to back up all the testimonies listed here on this page, as well as some new insights to the ongoing turmoil of RCG!

August 11, 2000 - From Karen Ray: Another chapter in the continuing saga of whether Romans 16:17 is or is not instruction to the BRETHREN....

August 5, 2000 - Today, Dave Pack is being marked in the Living Church of God as an enemy of the Church. This letter was to be read before all congregations of LCG without further commentary.

July 28, 2000 - In RCG's June 10th update, it is stated, "None of us in this office have the power to bring about local or federal arrests. Both of these arrests came completely by surprise to us." in the last two sentences of the third paragraph. Well, again I wish to point out the falseness of this statement. Here is an article by Charles Aukerman that was printed in The Sun Banner Pride on Thursday July 20, 2000. Be ready for RCG's update to be altered or removed!!!

July 11, 2000 - Here is an interesting email message I received from Glenn W. Matteson about the controversy of Raymond McNair and LCG.

July 1, 2000 - A feedback letter from Will Blair to "The Servant's News" from April 20, 2000.

June 23, 2000 -  By commenting on Mr. Pack’s Updates since June 5th, we will clearly show various inconsistencies and misstatements that are being perpetrated on the people of God, resulting in further division and discord in God's Church.  The facts need to be set straight in fairness to the injured parties, primarily Don Tiger and Robert Papay.

May 31, 2000 - Tim Mobley's letter explaining why he left RCG (from 10-21-99).

April 27, 2000 - Here is an interesting article in PDF from the Servant News by Norman Edwards. He is right on point about the happenings in RCG. He has gathered his information from various sources and compiled them into a truly concise outlay of the events since RCG's inception. The only mistake I found was that I wasn't the website designer for RCG, although I was the audio engineer for the posted sermons. Also, there was a mistake in saying that I had been laid off from my job. This didn't happen, although I came very close to having this happen because of the promises made to me about my being hired to work at RCG headquarters.

February 12, 2000 - Theresa Motto has written a letter to the members of RCG.

December 11, 1999 - It appears that RCG has heavily edited the old updates and has removed mention of Arlen Berkey along with other members that have left RCG. You may download zipped files of the original updates from May 5, 1999 through October 15, 1999 (for comparison to what is now posted) in
Microsoft Word or HTML formats by clicking on the desired file. The HTML version should be unpacked to an empty folder. This file is the easiest to use. It is set up with a Contents page and you can click on the update you wish to review in your browser. Please see the Readme file after unpacking.

December 1, 1999 - Arlen Berkey responds to his being disfellowshipped by RCG in the beginning of his sermonette.

December 1, 1999 - The rest  of Arlen Berkey's sermonette is continued in the "Introduction to 'Foundation of a New World'".
