Thought Police, Donald Trump, Kentucky Judge, and the Coming Famine of the Word
Many are getting concerned about ‘political correctness’ and where it is leading in the USA:

America’s “big problem,” declared Donald Trump during the first GOP presidential debate, “is being politically correct.”
Many Americans first heard about “political correctness” back in 1990 from Newsweek’s iconic “THOUGHT POLICE” issue.
Newsweek’s astonishingly candid cover story accurately described the “PC” phenomenon – then blossoming on college campuses nationwide – as “Marxist” and “totalitarian” in origin.
Since then, political correctness and the powerfully totalitarian leftist agenda underlying it have turned many of America’s top universities into what historian William Lind calls “small, ivy-covered North Koreas.” …
- The term “American” is now considered offensive, at least according to the University of New Hampshire’s “Bias-Free Language Guide.”
- Similarly, the following perfectly innocent phrases are now offensive, say today’s PC police: “There is only one race, the human race;” “I believe the most qualified person should get the job”; “Everyone can succeed in this society, if they work hard enough”; “Where are you from?”; and “Where were you born?”
- In America’s once-great institutions of higher learning, students are now obsessed with “microaggressions” – well intentioned, harmless expressions including “America is the land of opportunity” – that somehow are considered a form of violence. Students are likewise demanding that “trigger warnings” be attached to great literature like “Huckleberry Finn” and “The Merchant of Venice,” to alert them to any possible discomfort they may feel while reading. Rather than preparing students to handle the stresses and challenges of the real world after they graduate, colleges are conditioning young adults to constantly identify as aggrieved victims for the slightest perceived, and often imaginary, offense.
- Teachers live in abject fear of being criticized, boycotted, hauled before kangaroo tribunals or fired for offending someone’s – anyone’s – sensibilities by saying the wrong thing. …
“Donald Trump is right about political correctness,” said Whistleblower Editor David Kupelian. “It is like a disease that has infected America and is destroying it. The cure is truth, spoken boldly and courageously, but without hate.
I first objected to ‘political correctness’ in writing in 1991 related to certain peers and professors involved with the university I received my Ph.D. from.
The movement has grown.
We are now getting more and more to the place where freedom of academic expression, to cite one, is being limited. Teachers can lose the opportunity for tenure if they dare teach that there are scientific problems with evolution (e.g. Is There Another View of Evolution?), ‘climate change,’ or a variety of other positions that the mainstream has determined need to be taught a certain way.
As far as Donald Trump goes, yes he has often been politically incorrect. That, of itself, does not mean he should or should not be the next President of the United States. But even Donald Trump did take a somewhat, literally, ‘politically correct’ step today:

Donald Trump announced Thursday he has signed a GOP pledge not to run as an independent in 2016, after a personal appeal from the Republican Party chairman.
“I have signed the pledge,” Trump said, holding it up.
The decision by the Republican presidential front-runner helps ease concerns among party leadership that an outside Trump bid — should he not win the nomination — could threaten the party’s chances in the general election by peeling off votes. …
Trump said he got nothing in return, and sees no circumstances under which he would “tear up that pledge.”
The pledge states in part that if the GOP contender does not become the nominee: “I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is,” and “I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party.” http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/09/03/rnc-presses-trump-to-pledge-no-independent-2016-run/
While I heard some commentator on the radio saying that this was expected of all Republican candidates, the reality is that Donald Trump was pressured as he was the only one with a chance to get much of a third-party following. I believe the idea that one needs to commit to support a candidate from a particular political party is an another example of political correctness going too far. If an opposition candidate in one’s political party has vastly different views on key subjects, it would seem to be morally wrong to support that candidate or to expect an opponent to do so.
But welcome to the USA in 2015.
My focus for this post is not partisan politics. It is that, more and more, moral issues are becoming in danger of being ‘politically incorrect’ to denounce.
This includes not only abortion, pornography, homosexuality, but excessive debt accumulation, political alliances, and other matters.
On the homosexuality side, notice what a federal judge in Kentucky did today:

A federal judge ordered a defiant county clerk to jail for contempt Thursday after she insisted that it would violate her conscience to follow court orders to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.
Rowan County clerk Kim Davis and her deputy clerks were summoned to appear before U.S. District Judge David Bunning after she repeatedly denied them marriage licenses, cited her religious beliefs and “God’s authority.” …
Davis served as her mother’s deputy in the clerk’s office for 27 years before she was elected as a Democrat to succeed her mother in November. Davis’ own son is on the staff.

While the government may have the right to remove, fire, reassign, or apparently in Kim Davis’ case impeach her (as she is an elected governmental employee), jailing someone for upholding their religious views is wrong.
The ‘politically correct’ message from the judge is that the government determines right and wrong and all should accept the government’s pushing of the homosexual agenda. The judge is saying that Kim Davis cannot have thoughts that so strongly disagree with the government’s new position.
The USA no longer has the type of ‘freedom of religion’ or ‘freedom of speech’ its founders envisioned.
Having biblical views are becoming more problematic in the USA.
The time will come when the USA will apparently stop the efforts of websites like this one.
Notice also the following prophecy:
13 Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time. (Amos 5:13)
The above indicates that even those that are doing nothing wrong will need to be silent at the coming evil time.
Currently, it is still time to:
1 Cry aloud, spare not;
Lift up your voice like a trumpet;
Tell My people their transgression,
And the house of Jacob their sins. (Isaiah 58:1)
Which is what we in the Continuing Church of God are doing. We have denounced, not only sins that the world sometimes seems to consider politically correct, but also sins that many claimed COGs will not do, because of their own concerns about their political fates and/or fates that could happen if they offended their financial supporters if they told the truth to truly fulfill Isaiah 58:1.

That being said, the idea of ‘thought police’ is consistent with the fact that behind the scenes, many in the government have plans and are watching the internet with plans to deal with materials that they some day hope to silence.
Notice the following from the Bible:
1 Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation;
Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows — bitter words,
4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter;
They talk of laying snares secretly;
They say, “Who will see them?”
6 They devise iniquities:
“We have perfected a shrewd scheme.”
Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep. (Psalms 64:1-6)
And while you might think that if you have done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear from surveillance, consider that many in the government of the USA consider that not supporting homosexual marriages, etc. are extremist. I also saw someone once on a documentary that stated that people who believed in the millennium could not be trusted and should be considered as potential terrorists. The fact that we in the Continuing Church of God would be considered pacifists, does not change the fact that since we hold to millennial and other biblical views that we will not be improperly classified by government employees with various agendas.
The Prophet Amos was inspired to record the following:
11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
But shall not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)
Notice that the Bible tells of a time that will come when the word of God will not be found. And that would seem to be because truth from it will be taken off the internet. In the 21st century, the internet is accessed by people in every country, and thus some type of internet restriction/suspension/site removal is coming.
We are getting closer to this time.
That is part of why we in the are preparing for the ‘short work’ (Romans 9:28) and the coming ‘famine of the word.’
