United Nations: Humankind's Last Hope or New World Order?

By COGwriter

The United Nations (UN). Is the UN the last hope for humanity? Are its goals what humanity needs? Or might some of its goals end up with sinister results?

What does it say about itself? Is there any biblical support for any of its objectives?

What does the Bible teach about a confederation of nations in the end times?

This article will attempt to address those questions and more.

What is the United Nations?

Here is some of what the United Nations says about itself:

The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War by 51 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.

Here is what it claims are its main purposes:

The UN has 4 main purposes

Peace is a good objective. Having friendly relations between nations is a good objective. Cooperation to help the hungry, poor, and illiterate is a good objective.

Jesus taught:

9 Blessed are the peacemakers ... (Matthew 5:9).

The Apostle Paul taught:

18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. (Romans 12:18)

So, inasmuch as the United Nations strives to properly do that, it is consistent with biblical admonitions.

Last Hope for Peace or Politically-Entangled?

Many have called the United Nations the "last hope" for peace. Notice the following:

"To that world assembly of sovereign states, the United Nations, our last best hope in an age where the instruments of war have far outpaced the instruments of peace, we renew our pledge of support—to prevent it from becoming merely a forum for invective—to strengthen its shield of the new and the weak—and to enlarge the area in which its writ may run."

--John F. Kennedy--

The year was 1961. In his Inaugural Address, John F. Kennedy President of the United States of America, addressed the world as a nation. This was the first speech given by Kennedy since he had taken office. This was his acceptance speech.

In this speech, Kennedy had used a great deal of metaphors, metaphors that described other countries as family members, metaphors that portrayed communism as a great evil, and metaphors that describe the a union called the United Nations as the last hope for peace. (Walterick PD. Kennedy's Declaration of Peace. http://www2.yk.psu.edu/~jmj3/sc4_walt.htm viewed 05/07/14)

Notice what Pope Paul VI said to the UN in 1965:

The peoples of the earth turn to the United Nations as the last hope of concord and peace. We presume to present here, together with Our own, their tribute to honour and of hope. That is why this moment is a great one for you also. We know that you are fully aware of this. Now for the continuation of Our message. It looks entirely towards the future. The edifice which you have constructed must never collapse; it must be continually perfected and adapted to the needs which the history of the world will present. You mark a stage in the development of mankind; from now on retreat is impossible; you must go forward. (Pope Paul VI's Address to United Nations General Assembly, October 4, 1965. http://www.christusrex.org/www1/pope/UN-1965.html viewed 05/07/14)

A religious leader who professes Christ should teach the true "gospel of peace" (Romans 10:15; Ephesians 6:15) and point out that Jesus is the "Prince of peace" (Isaiah 9:6). But Pope Paul VI did neither in his UN address.

Although some have considered that the UN is humanity's last hope for peace, not all have viewed it that way.

Notice something from 1985:

Aim: Prevent Major War

The first article of the Charter outlines the aim those representatives had in mind in establishing the United Nations — "to maintain international peace and security."
This hope is more eloquently expressed in the foreword to the Charter. In it the signatory nations pledged "to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetimes has brought sorrow to mankind." The signers further pledged that "armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest."
Article 2 contains other basic principles such as the sovereign equality of its members (assuring one vote for each member country now grown to 159), regardless of size; that disputes are to be settled by peaceful means; and that members undertake not to use force or the threat of force in contravention of the purposes of the United Nations.
To prevent meddling within the affairs of each state, however, Article 2 stipulates that the United Nations shall not intervene in matters within the domestic jurisdiction of any member nation.
Since those idealistic days 40 years ago more than 100 armed conflicts have plagued the world, though thankfully none of them have been nuclear — yet. Hardly a month has gone by without fighting on some battlefield.
Said retired U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Jeane Kirkpatrick, the General Assembly does indeed operate much like a parliament or congress. There are parties, only here they are called the Western powers, the Afro-Asian-Third World bloc, and nonaligned states (many of whom are part of the second or Soviet "party" as well).
Moscow, Mrs. Kirkpatrick further asserted, has learned how to play the U.N. political game well, far better than Washington. ...
Because of the politics practiced in the United Nations, not only are major issues left virtually unattended, many regional disputes are often elevated to world crisis level.
As a result, said Mrs. Kirkpatrick, "what goes on in the U.N. actually exacerbates conflicts.... All kinds of countries that don't have any direct interest in a conflict get involved in it. As a result, you might say all conflict is globalized."
The U.N. General Assembly,. even some of its hard-pressed supporters in the Western World admit, has become skewed in its perceptions of what are and what are not true world problems. (Hogberg G. The United Nations at 40. Plain Truth, July-August 1985)

Here is a later 1985 report from one who attended the conference when the UN was founded:

FORTY years ago I attended the entire San Francisco Conference for the drafting and signing of the Charter for the United Nations.
On June 23 to 26 of this current year, the 40th anniversary of that Conference was held in San Francisco.
So far as I know, I was one of only four or so in attendance at this Anniversary Conference who had attended the Conference 40 years ago. Three were official representatives of nations and signed the Charter. I attended as a press representative, representing The Plain Truth. Although not political or official, at this 40th Anniversary Conference I was seated at the head speaker's table at dinners and some conferences. One hundred thirty-one people, including ambassadors representing about 100 nations, were present.
At the founding Conference 40 years ago, I heard loud and serious oratory in plenary sessions, saying solemnly that this United Nations they were forming was the world's LAST HOPE to avoid final doom! At this Anniversary Conference I heard mostly apologetic speeches for failure and limited praise for real accomplishment in minor areas. World War I was to have been the war to end all wars. World War II was billed likewise, and, at its close, the U.N. was to keep the peace. Yet more than 150 local wars have occurred since and no peace is remotely in sight now. Instead a new kind of violence to upset world peace is the current problem—TERRORISM!
WHY HAS THE UNITED NATIONS SO UTTERLY FAILED?
At the Conference 40 years ago, I attended a Pontifical High Mass at a Roman Catholic cathedral, attended largely by delegates to the Conference, officiated by Bishop Hunt of Salt Lake City. The bishop's loud voice rang out a stirring warning to the delegates, quoting from the Bible, "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it." It was abundantly evident the Eternal was having no part in building this house that was to be humanity's LAST HOPE for the survival of mankind!
I could have quoted more warnings from the sure Word of God. "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"—and it seems no two nations were or are in agreement. Also, "A house … divided against itself … cannot stand." And the United Nations is a house fatally divided against itself...
For 40 years now Germany has been a divided nation. Nazism promoted nationalism—a patriotic national pride. For 40 years West Germany has been suffering from the accusation of instigating World War II and the infamous Holocaust. But East Germans, though not enjoying prosperity under Communist rule, nevertheless are still, very much GERMANS—proud of being Germans, with the national spirit. They are still "more German" than the West Germans.
The Germans on both sides want to be united once again. There is now a dynamic movement toward a united EUROPE—a resurrection of the medieval Holy Roman Empire. Europeans know a house divided cannot stand. Eastern Europe is more Roman Catholic today than Western Europe....Europeans are saying that 40 years is long enough to be divided. This 40th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations may trigger events to bring on the world's last colossal world violence and trouble... (Armstrong HW. 40th Anniversary Conference of Drafting UN Charter. Plain Truth, October 1985)

And since he wrote that, the division of Europe basically ended, East and West Germany unified, and we have seen increases in terrorism.

This is not to say that the UN does no good, but only that it has not fully succeeded in its declared purpose to keep peace throughout the world and all nations friendly to each other--which were (and are) noble objectives.

United Nations Has Same Goals as the Vatican?

Various world leaders seem to support an ecumenical-interfaith agenda:

February 6, 2014

Obama said Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. “In contrast to those who wield religion to divide us, lets do more to nurture the dialogue between faiths.”  http://www.cbsnews.com/news/obama-lets-nurture-the-dialogue-between-faiths/

In a world in which sectarian divisions fuel some of the most violent and dangerous confrontations, the interfaith movement — once thought as irrelevant — has emerged as a force in American religion like never before.

The movement has made for some unlikely bedfellows, such as an emerging think tank for Jews and Mormons in Salt Lake City.

It involves unlikely alliances, such as when one of the most conservative Christian pro-life groups staged a news conference on Capitol Hill in September applauding a Muslim prayer service on the Mall.

It involves unlikely allies, such as leading Christian “emergent” leader Brian McLaren, who was roundly criticized during Ramadan last year when he fasted the entire month out of solidarity with Muslims.

It involves unlikely support, such as that offered by the Obama White House, which has identified interfaith work as a public policy goal. ...

Some of the biggest movers and shakers in the interfaith movement are governments in Muslim states: Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan.

Heads — or former heads — of state are likewise involved. Soon after British Prime Minister Tony Blair retired, he founded an interfaith foundation in London to “promote respect and understanding about the world’s major religions and show how faith is a powerful force for good in the modern world.” http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/apr/05/interfaith-movement-gains-new-strength/#ixzz39wuzyqHA

What about the United Nations?

Zenit, a pro-Vatican news agency, reported the following:

May 07, 2014

In an interview published Wednesday, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has said the United Nations and the Holy See have the “same goals and ideas”.

The UN chief, who is to meet Pope Francis on Friday, said he was grateful to be able to meet the Holy Father for a second time (the two first met in April last year). This year, he noted they will meet “in the context” of a summit of heads of UN agencies taking place this week in Rome.

“I thank him for the time that he will dedicate to us,” he said, according to the Italian newspaper Il Velino. “The United Nations and the Holy See have the same goals and the same ideas,” he added.  http://www.zenit.org/en/articles/ban-ki-moon-says-un-and-holy-see-have-same-goals-and-ideas

I wondered if that meant that the United Nations not only shared the goal of peace through human efforts, but other ones as well, such as the ecumenical goals of the Vatican. So, I did a search on the United Nations’ website and found the following:

Secretary-General, at New York Ecumenical Service, Stresses Special Role of Religious Leaders as Standard-bearers of Reason, Respect

Following are UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s remarks at the Church of the Holy Family in New York…:…

Whether priest or lama, rabbi or imam, you are all standard-bearers of reason and respect within and among religious traditions.

People everywhere look to religious leaders for guidance, support and direction.  We need religious leaders in all parts of the world to help lead the way in promoting tolerance, seeking forgiveness, healing divisions and building mutual understanding and mutual respect.  This pursuit is rooted in all faith traditions and it is needed now more than ever.  We need voices of moderation and calm everywhere to make themselves heard…

Almost 50 years ago, Pope Paul VI delivered a sermon here at this very ecumenical service.  He said, “The work of peace is not restricted to one religious belief, it is the work and duty of every human person, regardless of…religious conviction.”

That remains our mission — our obligation — and our calling.  Lastly, I sincerely hope that under the leadership of the President of the General Assembly, Vuk Jeremić, we will be united and able to address all the challenges we are facing.  Let us strive together to advance our common humanity and shared future.  http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2012/sgsm14516.doc.htm

Faith-based Organizations Can Help Deliver United Nations Message for Renewed Cooperation to Tackle Climate Change, Other Crises, Secretary-General Says

Following is the text of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s message, delivered by Under-Secretary-General Vijay Nambiar, Chef de Cabinet, to the Ninth Annual Orthodox Prayer Service for the United Nations Community, presided over by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, in New York, today, 26 October:

I send greetings to His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, and to all the participants in this annual prayer service.

As a secular organization, the United Nations has no common religion.  But as humanitarians we, too, like all major faiths, work on behalf of the weak, the disadvantaged, and those who are vulnerable to violence, disease and disaster.  And we share the same ethical foundation:  a belief in the inherent dignity of all individuals.

If ever there were a time for unity among religions and peoples, it is now.  We must be united in purpose, united in action…

Let us work together for a safer, healthier more equitable future for all.  http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2009/sgsm12567.doc.htm

Respect between religions is a fine objective as long as it is not intended to result in biblical compromise.

Notice something that happened later:

July 17, 2017

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, a practicing Roman Catholic with a deep Christian faith, has addressed the faith community in New York on how it can help in combatting the violent extremism of groups claiming religion is their motivation.

"I firmly believe in the power of faith leaders to shape our world for good," he said.

Guterres spoke at the launch of the Plan of Action for Religious Leaders and Actors to Prevent Incitement to Violence that Could Lead to Atrocity Crimes throught the initiative known as the Fez Plan on July 14.

"The Fez Plan of Action is the product of two years of consultations, led by my Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide. It involved religious leaders representing different faiths around the world, as well as faith based organizations and many others," said Guterres.

"I would like to pay tribute to the critical role of many partners, and in particular KAICIID, the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers and the World Council of Churches." http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/voice-and-authority-of-religion-is-key-in-fight-against-extremism-says-un-chief/60381.htm

So, the head of the UN was endorsing interfaith matters and the World Council of Churches.

Therefore we see that it is not just ecumenical dialogue between professors of Christianity that some in the Vatican and UN want, some also want an inter-faith acceptance and cooperation–essentially a final Babylonian type cooperation (cf. Genesis 11:1-9)–and the Bible shows this will happen in the end times (Revelation 17, 18).

While some, even amongst the Eastern Orthodox have publicly opposed it (see Greek Orthodox Bishops denounce Pope Francis, Church of Rome, and Ecumenism as Antichrist Plan of Freemasons), others, like Patriarch Bartholomew, have embraced it. So much so, that the Eastern Orthodox agreed to their first “ecumenical council” in over a thousand years earlier this year (see Orthodox agree to eighth ecumenical council: If Orthodox prophecy is correct on it, this council marks a major step towards the end!), which is to take place in 2016.

Several years back, Charismatic Kenneth Copeland agreed to it (see Protestant endorsement of the ecumenical agenda: Kenneth Copeland do you not understand? and/or watch Charismatic Kenneth Copeland and Anglican Tony Palmer: Protestants Beware!).

While people of all religious backgrounds should try to get along--so yes, I endorse peace between all religions--the Bible clearly warns against the final Babylonian system which some in the ecumenical movement and some in the United Nations is trying to form:

4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast
6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. (Revelation 13:6-9)

Obviously, real Christians would not be part of what Revelation warns against. And, yes, Roman and Eastern Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants, Church of God Christians, and others who profess Christ understand that.

Notice, however, that the Bible warns that some religious leader will try to get people, through teaching (looking like a lamb, but being a dragon), "miracles" (signs and lying wonders), and economic pressure to support the Beast:

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.  (Revelation 13:11-18)

A new combination of religious Babylon and politics is prophesied to form.

United Nations Wants to Abolish True Religious Freedom

In 2023, a report from the United Nations Human Rights Council came out opposing the human right to believe the Bible:

UN Report: World Religions Must Accept Sex Perverts

August 10, 2023

An “independent expert” who toils for the United Nations has demanded that Christians reorder their teachings to accept and accommodate homosexuals, “transgenders,” pedophiles, and other freaks, weirdos, and perverts.

The demand came in a report to the UN from Victor Madrigal-Borloz, the “Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity (UN IE SOGI).” …

Madrigal-Borloz expostulated at length about how tough perverts and groomers have it because of religious authorities, and that “states” must set straight religious figures. So religious freedom and rights for perverts are incompatible.

“Religious conservatives” — meaning traditional Christians — must change and toe the UN’s line. Or else. …

The “expert” also explained that religions that don’t accept sex perversion are discriminating, and implicitly suggested that such “discrimination” is “violence.”

“The State obligation to adopt measures to eradicate such violence and discrimination continues nevertheless to face opposition,” he wrote. The UN must eliminate that opposition. …

He’s quite disturbed that a “state’s human rights obligations must be calibrated against the dominant religious and belief or cultural orthodoxies in national contexts,” and that “the right to be free from discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity conflicts with national religious and belief sensibilities.”

As well:

Notions of “traditional values,” “public morals” and “national values” are commonly used in discourses that are hostile to the human rights of women, LGBT persons and religious and belief minorities, and often rely implicitly or explicitly on religious and belief norms and values, also linked with patriotism and patriarchal gender and family norms.

Another of his concerns is the “autonomy” that churches and religions enjoy, and protections against state interference with their beliefs and practices. That “principle” often ends in sex perverts “being excluded” from participating with normal people in normal activities. That’s bad for the perverts, who are “marginalized” and “stigmatized.”

Thus, “states have a duty to create ‘an enabling environment’ where dissenters, dissidents, progressive reformers and activists are protected against violence and harmful practices from the larger religious community, so that they can assert their agency and participate in religious discourse on an equal footing.”

In other words, the state should force churches to permit — and pastors to perform — homosexual “marriages.”

The UN is of course worried about sex perverts who are forced, or those who feel forced, to leave churches or faith communities, the author wrote. Because “alienation from organized religion” affects “the ability of the individual to seek happiness through spirituality.” …

In a news release, the UN summarized Madrigal-Borloz’s report with this headline: “Freedom of religion or belief not incompatible with equality for LGBT persons: UN expert.” That’s the opposite of what the report clearly says.

After that, the globalist sexpert claimed that “religious narratives have been deliberately used to justify violence and discrimination — often in defiance of the doctrine of those faiths, and also beyond the scope of the right [to] freedom of religion or belief.” https://thenewamerican.com/us/culture/un-report-world-religions-must-accept-sex-perverts/

Madrigal-Borloz is in a position which United Nations Human Rights Council appoints.

Basically, this United Nations report says you cannot believe what the Bible says.

One would think that a “human rights” council would defend freedom of religion–but many these days prefer to promote perversion over truth.

Now, the logo of the United Nations Human Rights Council caught my attention.

Official Logo of the United Nations Human Rights Council

Why?

Because it has flames–which, of course, come from fire.

That brought to mind the following scripture:

24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. (Genesis 19:24-25)

And why did it happen?

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)

Homosexuality is a form of sexual immorality that involves going after “strange flesh.”

Why mention this in the 21st century?

Because God turned:

6…the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6)

Thus, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah were to serve as an example to those who would live as they did. Yet despite biblical warnings, many modern leaders are endorsing so-called homosexual “rights” and “same-sex marriage.” The Bible, however, warns about such leaders:

12…Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).

So, leaders that ignore what the Bible teaches are leading others toward destruction.

The LGBTQ+ agenda is opposed to God, His statutes, His judgements, His commandments, and even His creation. It is destructive and sinful.

It is sad when an international human rights council opposes the right to believe and practice what the Bible teaches.

The pro-LGBTQ+ agenda will not end well (see also Revelation 11:15-18).

Laudato Si: A Call for a One World Government?

Pope Francis’ encyclical titled Laudato Si was officially released in June 2015. Here is some information about it:

June 24, 2015

The Pope’s encyclical appears to focus on climate change and environmental degradation but the larger focus is his indictment of capitalism and the presumed greed that it spawns, leading Pope Francis to call for a global government solution. The language in the encyclical looks like it came from the UN’s Agenda 21 and the Club of Rome’s Limits to Growth. Both were deeply flawed analyses of problems and solutions.  …

Pope Francis is especially harsh in his criticism of capitalism as if it is the cause of greed, selfishness, and a lack of concern for our fellow man.

That type of criticism is directly from the Socialism philosophy that holds that property be held in common and economic relationships be governed by political hierarchy.  History has demonstrated that Socialism, while intellectually appealing, fails in the real world. The tone and direction of the Pope’s condemnation suggests that he is enthralled by the writings of Thomas Malthus and the doomsayer Paul Ehrlich who has been consistently wrong in his predictions and prescriptions for saving the planet. …

And according to the Guardian, he seeks “changes in lifestyles and energy consumption to avert unprecedented destruction of the ecosystem before the end of the century”. This is the language of Greenpeace and Earth First who are extreme by any definition.

The call for global governance is reminiscent of President Jacques Chirac’s 2000 statement that “For the first time, humanity is instituting a genuine instrument (the Kyoto Treaty) of global governance, one that should find a place within the World Environmental Organisation which France and European Union would like to see established.”

The notion that the world should be run by an organization modeled after the UN or the European Commission and European Union is chilling and ought to lead to the prompt dismissal of the Pope’s philosophy but not his personal values or focus on reducing poverty. http://fuelfix.com/blog/2015/06/24/pope-francis-call-for-global-governance/

His Laudato Si encyclical is very similar to the United Nation's '2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,' which Pope Francis has promoted and endorsed.

Pope Francis also pushed for 'humanism' when he spoke to European leaders on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome:

Address of His Holiness Pope Francis
to European Heads of State and Government
24 March 2017

Distinguished Guests,

I thank you for your presence here tonight, on the eve of the sixtieth anniversary of the signing of the Treaties instituting the European Economic Community and the European Atomic Energy Community. ...

At the origin of the idea of Europe, we find “the nature and the responsibility of the human person, with his ferment of evangelical fraternity…, with his desire for truth and justice, honed by a thousand-year-old experience”.[3]  Rome, with its vocation to universality, symbolizes that experience and was thus chosen as the place for the signing of the Treaties.  For here – as the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, J. Luns, observed – “were laid the political, juridical and social foundations of our civilization”.

It was clear, then, from the outset, that the heart of the European political project could only be man himself. ...

As Saint John Paul II affirmed: “Today too, the soul of Europe remains united, because, in addition to its common origins, those same Christian and human values are still alive.  Respect for the dignity of the human person, a profound sense of justice, freedom, industriousness, the spirit of initiative, love of family, respect for life, tolerance, the desire for cooperation and peace: all these are its distinctive marks”. ...

What hope do they offer for the Europe of today and of tomorrow?

Their answers are to be found precisely in the pillars on which they determined to build the European economic community.  I have already mentioned these: the centrality of man, effective solidarity, openness to the world, the pursuit of peace and development, openness to the future.  Those who govern are charged with discerning the paths of hope, identifying specific ways forward to ensure that the significant steps taken thus far have not been wasted, but serve as the pledge of a long and fruitful journey.

Europe finds new hope when man is the centre and the heart of her institutions. ...

As leaders, you are called to blaze the path of a “new European humanism” made up of ideals and concrete actions.  This will mean being unafraid to take practical decisions capable of meeting people’s real problems and of standing the test of time.

For my part, I readily assure you of the closeness of the Holy See and the Church to Europe as a whole, to whose growth she has, and always will, continue to contribute. http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2017/03/24/pope_francis_address_to_eu_heads_of_state_and_government/1300895

While cooperation and striving for peace is fine, the Bible warns against a church that sits on seven hills/mountains that is engaged improperly with political leaders:

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.  5 And on her forehead a name was written:

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. 10 There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. 11 The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

15 Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”   (Revelation 17:1-18).

The woman/church is involved in politics, is on the great city of seven hills, and will finally be betrayed by political leaders in the end time.

Catholic scholars teach:

9. The seven heads are the seven hills, on which the woman sits. That is, the city of Rome. (Victorinus. Commentary on the Apocalypse, from the seventh chapter. Translated by Robert Ernest Wallis. From Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. 7. Edited by Alexander Roberts, James Donaldson, and A. Cleveland Coxe. (Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1886.) Revised and edited for New Advent by Kevin Knight. <http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0712.htm>)

“The Church that is in Babylon saluteth you, and so doth my son Mark” (1 Peter 5:13). That Babylon stands for Rome, as usual amongst pious Jews, and not for the real Babylon, then without Christians, is admitted by common consent (cf. F.J.A. Hort, “Judaistic Christianity”, London, 1895, 155) (Wilhelm J. Transcribed by Donald J. Boon. Apostolic Succession. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume I. Copyright © 1907 by Robert Appleton Company. Online Edition Copyright © 2003 by K. Knight. Nihil Obstat, March 1, 1907. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York).

The seven headed city is probably Rome (septicolis– seven hills) (Dupont Yves. Catholic Prophecy. TAN Books, 1973, p.24).

The woman sits on a scarlet beast, which is full of blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns (illustrating the close relationship between the historical city of Rome and the beast, the symbol of the Roman Empire, see Revelation 17:3). This woman (Rome) has been called Babylon the great and is drunk with the blood the saints and martyrs (see 17:5-6)…Another code for the symbols of the beast is announced in Revelation 17:9: “This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven mountains on which the woman is seated” (an obvious reference to the city of Rome built on seven hills).(Kurz, W. G. Rossi (1873): We must observe that St. Malachy does not mention the last Pope as a distinct person from the preceding one, whom he styles Glory of the Olive. He merely says, “During the last persecution of the Church, Peter II, a Roman, shall reign. He shall feed the flock in many tribulations, at the end of which the City of the Seven Hills (Rome) will be destroyed, and the awful Judge shall judge his people.” According to St. Malachy, then, only ten, or at most eleven, popes remain to be in future more or less legitimately elected. We say more or less legitimately elected, because out of those future popes it is to be feared that one or two will be unlawfully elected as anti-popes. (Rossi G. THE CHRISTIAN TRUMPET, OR, Previsions and Predictions about Impending General Calamities, The Universal Triumph of the Church, The Coming of Antichrist, The Last Judgment, and The End of the World. Compiled by PELLEGRINO [Gaudentius Rossi], A Missionary Priest with Superior’s permission. Boston, THOS. B. NOONAND & CO., 1873, p. 139)

…the Apocalypse was an inexhaustible quarry where to dig for invectives that they might hurl then against the Roman hierarchy. The seven hills of Rome, the scarlet robes of the cardinals, and the unfortunate abuses of the papal court made the application easy and tempting (Van den Biesen, Christian. “Apocalypse.” The Catholic Encyclopedia. Vol. 1. New York: Robert Appleton Company, 1907. 5 Oct. 2008 <http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01594b.htm>).

Nor must we look for order in the Apocalypse; but we must follow the meaning of those things which are prophesied. Therefore in the trumpets and phials is signified either the desolation of the plagues that are sent upon the earth, or the madness of Antichrist himself, or the cutting off of the peoples, or the diversity of the plagues, or the hope in the kingdom of the saints, or the ruin of states, or the great overthrow of Babylon, that is, the Roman state (Victorinus. Commentary on the Apocalypse, Chapter 7, Verse 8. Excerpted from Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 7. Edited by Alexander Roberts & James Donaldson. American Edition, 1886. Online Edition Copyright © 2004 by K. Knight).

There was a strong anti-Roman tradition in the early Church. Rome was the harlot city soaked in the blood of the saints, the centre from which spread out wave after wave of persecution. The Book of Revelations’ gloating vision of the coming ruin of Rome, ‘Fallen, fallen, is Babylon the great’ (Revelations 14:8), remained a persistent strand so long as the empire continued to persecute the church, and survived even into the Middle Ages (Duffy, Eamon. Saints & Sinners: A History of the Popes. Yale University Press, New Haven (CT), 2002, pp. 16-17).

The author of the Commentaries upon the Apocalypse set forth in St. Ambrose name, writeth thus: This…sometime signifieth Rome, specially which at that time when the Apostle wrote this, did persecute the Church of God. But otherwise it signifieth the whole city of the Devil, that is, the universal corps of the reprobate. Tertullian also taketh it for Rome, thus, Babylon (saith he) in St. John is a figure of the city of Rome, being so great, so proud of the Empire, and the destroyer of the saints. Which is plainly spoken of that city, when it was heathen, the head of the terrene dominion of the world, the persecutor of the Apostles and their successors, the seat of Nero, Domitian, and the like, Christ’s special enemies, the sink of idolatry, and false worship of the Pagan gods (Annotations on Chapter 17 of the Apocalypse. The Original And True Rheims New Testament Of Anno Domini 1582. Prepared and Edited by Dr. William G. von Peters. Ph.D. 2004, copyright assigned to VSC Corp. Page 583).

It is clear that even the Roman Catholics admit that John is referring to a reprobate church (he used the analogy of a woman) as Babylon and that early Christians identified that with Rome. A reprobate church would seem to be one that incorporates non-biblical practices (such as certain traditions) as superior to biblical ones.

Roman Catholics may be surprised to read what two of their scholars (Will and Ariel Durant) wrote about Catholic Christianity:

Christianity was the last great creation of the ancient pagan world (Durant W and A. The Story of Civilization: Caesar and Christ, a history of Roman civilization and of Christianity from their beginnings to A.D. 325 Volume 3 of The Story of Civilization. Simon and Schuster, 1935 Original from the University of Virginia Digitized Apr 10, 2008, p. 595).

This should give Roman Catholics pause to think. It appears that the Durants are stating that Roman Catholicism is essentially a pagan creation, while The Catholic Encyclopedia (and other Catholic scholars) teach that Rome is Babylon.

But irrespective of these passages, John (the last living original apostle) never writes anything positive about Rome or any church there. He warned about one that will be involved in a Europe-wide government that will affect the whole world (Revelation 13 & 17).

Pope Francis did not call for the establishment of the kingdom of God, but for an international coalition, that is part of why I named my video on Laudado Si: Laudato Si: Pope’s Agenda or Kingdom of God?

While many consider Pope Francis very spiritual, notice something that the Apostle Paul warned against:

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:6-9)

2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted — you may well put up with it! (2 Corinthians 11:2-4)

European humanism, without the Jesus of the Bible, is a false gospel. A 'chaste virgin' will not be entangled with false religions and humanistic politics.

Although Catholic scholars admit that Rome is the city of seven hills/mountains, the Bible teaches that real Christians are not to be in this end time Babylonian system:

2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. (Revelation 18:2-5)

That is the system that some in the ecumenical movement and some in the United Nations seem to be trying to prop up.

Pope Francis wants the UN to go further to push his wealth distribution agenda:

May 09, 2014

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis told U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday that the world body must do more to help the poor and should encourage the "legitimate redistribution" of wealth.

Francis, who since his election last year has often called for significant changes to economic systems, made his comments in an address to Ban and heads of many U.N. agencies meeting in Rome...

A contribution to equitable development could be made "both by international activity aimed at the integral human development of all the world's peoples and by the legitimate redistribution of economic benefits by the State ...," he said...

In the past 14 months since his election, Francis has issued several strong attacks on the global economic system...

Ban also renewed an invitation for the pope to address the United Nations in New York.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-rt-us-pope-un-20140509,0,5167939.story

The wealth distribution agenda seems to be consistent with what will happen under the final Antichrist (for some additional details, see Some Doctrines of Antichrist).

Sometimes the UN and Vatican have solidarity and are pushing for a common cause:

May 10, 2014

When Pope Francis met executives from the United Nations agencies, led by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, he urged them to challenge all injustice, the "economy of exclusion," the "throwaway culture" and to "protect the family."

For his part Ban hailed the personal commitment of Pope Francis to eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable development during their meeting at the Vatican Friday.

"I count on the Catholic Church, under your leadership, to continue to work closely with the United Nations to promote a life of dignity for all.

"Our meeting today will send a very strong message of solidarity in our common cause." Ban said...

This time Ban brought with him the heads of the U.N. agencies, around 50 senior U.N. officials who were meeting in Rome.

The Catholic Church and U.N. agencies... normally concur on the fight against poverty...

Ban said during his audience with the Pope. "Inequality is growing. Injustice is prevalent. There is too much intolerance among peoples and faiths. All of these aggravate insecurity."...

"Across the U.N. agenda, I see the need for calm, compassion, cooperation and courage," said Ban. "Your Papacy embodies these principles and has inspired people in all regions and from all backgrounds. We deeply appreciate your personal commitment to eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable development." http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/un-counts-on-catholics-to-promote-dignity-for-all-ban-tells-pope-francis-24743

Some in the UN and Vatican are committed to working together. They want a socialistic, ecumenical, and inter-faith world. And yes, one can work with various ones in the Vatican and the United Nations to try to make the world a better place.

However, as far as some in the UN and morality goes, notice some additional information about what its former Secretary General believed:

On 7 March 2012 Ban delivered a speech titled "The Time Has Come" to the United Nations Human Rights Council urging the Council to place greater emphasis on combating homophobia and LGBT rights around the world. The speech was met by a protest by the committee, with delegates organizing a walk-out protest during the speech. During a speech at the UN headquarters commemorating Human Rights Day, Ban condemned countries with anti-gay laws, mentioning 76 countries that criminalize homosexuality. He said: "It is an outrage that in our modern world, so many countries continue to criminalize people simply for loving another human being of the same sex." Ban has told senior managers that homophobia will not be tolerated. He pointed to countries such as Ukraine which has proposed criminalizing public discussion about homosexuality as threatening basic human rights. He further stated that government has a duty to defend vulnerable minorities.

In April 2013, he described LGBT rights as one of the great neglected human rights of our time. He also said that religion, culture or tradition can never justify denial of basic rights. (Ban Ki-moon. Wikipedia, viewed 05/08/14)

The above is against the Bible and should not be endorsed (cf. Romans 1:18-32). See also The Bible Condemns Homosexuality.

United Nations Works with the World Council of Churches

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has, with some United Nations' (UN) support, announced that it is launching a global peace network:

December 9, 2014

The World Council of Churches says it has launched an Ecumenical Peace Advocacy Network to build a just and sustainable peace, engaging churches, ecumenical organizations and civil society.

The WCC announced EPAN at its conference held from December 1 to 5 in Sigtuna, Sweden it said in a statement on December 9. ...

"This consultation intended to create program synergies and develop collaboration methods, sharing best practices and lessons learned in peace-building, conflict prevention and advocacy for peace," said Rudelmar Bueno de Faria, WCC representative to the United Nations in New York.

The WCC meeting on Peace-building and Advocacy for Just Peace was hosted by the (Lutheran) Church Sweden, the Uniting Church in Sweden, and the Christian Council of Sweden.

More than 80 ecumenical advocacy experts, church leaders, as well as civil society and United Nations partners from 37 different countries, took part in the event. ...

The event will follow-up in 2015 in Africa and the Middle East meeting aimed at preparing advocacy strategies and plans to promote just peace, reconciliation and conflict prevention.

"The new Ecumenical Peace Advocacy Network is a great opportunity for churches to act collectively to address issues related to peace on a global level," Bueno de Faria said.

"Churches and ecumenical organization have the responsibility to mobilize themselves on specific peace issues and influence processes that brings about lasting and just peace." http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/wold-council-of-churches-launches-global-just-peace-advocacy-network-27478#ixzz3LVJ7x5mM

The ecumenical and inter-faith movements are moving ahead, but unless they properly involve biblical truth, they WILL NOT RESULT IN REAL AND LASTING PEACE.

While a temporary peace will come to the Middle East per Daniel 9:27, it will not last per that same verse (see also The 'Peace Deal' of Daniel 9:27). It will end in destruction for many in the Middle East (see also The Future King of the South is Rising).

World Not Pleased with Donald Trump

Before US President Donald Trump took office, I wrote and had the following published:

Donald Trump’s view of climate change is expected to set up some type of issue between the USA and Europe. Europe will tend to see the USA as an irresponsible polluter of the planet, while Europe will claim to be the protector that the world needs. (Thiel B. Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse. Nazarene Books, 2017)

This was confirmed. Notice:

February 1, 2017

Faced with a U.S. retreat from international efforts to tackle climate change, European Union officials are looking to China, fearing a leadership vacuum will embolden those within the bloc seeking to slow the fight against global warming.

While U.S. President Donald Trump has yet to act on campaign pledges to pull out of the 2015 Paris accord to cut greenhouse gas emissions, his swift action in other areas has sparked sharp words from usually measured EU bureaucrats.

When Trump’s former environment adviser, until the president’s inauguration this month, took to a stage in Brussels on Wednesday and called climate experts “urban imperialists”, a rebuke from Britain’s former energy minister drew applause from the crowd packed with EU officials. …

‘WE LOST A MAJOR ALLY’

China’s partnership with former U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration helped get nearly 200 countries to support the Paris climate change pact in 2015.

That agreement, which looks to limit the rise in average global temperature to “well below” 2 degrees Celsius compared with pre-industrial levels, entered into force late last year, binding nations that ratified to draft national plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

But despite Beijing’s green policy drive, propelled by domestic anger over smog and the environmental devastation wrought by rapid economic growth, some EU officials are skeptical it can pull as much weight as the United States on climate issues.

“We will make a lot of noises (about allying with China), but let’s be honest we lost an ally – a major one,” a senior EU energy diplomat said, speaking on condition of anonymity. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-eu-climatechange-idUSKBN15G5B3

The Trump Administration position on ‘climate change’ upset the Europeans at the latest G20 conference (see Trump, Germany, China, and G20).

Furthermore, because of at least two of Donald Trump's executive orders, the USA is being called a rogue nation:

Trump’s attack on the climate will fail, spectacularly

President Donald Trump’s most recent assault on the environment not only makes the US into a rogue state on climate change. It will also fail in its goal to create jobs and stimulate the economy, says DW’s Sonya Diehn.

29 March 2017

US President Donald Trump’s latest attempt to pander to a tiny constituency – aside from being a thinly veiled gift to the fossil fuel industry – is bound to fail.

In a PR event on Tuesday, Trump stood flanked by coal miners and climate-denying Environmental Protection Agency head Scott Pruitt as he announced his latest assault on global environmental security.

Not only does Trump’s executive order deny the existence of climate change, it also rejects the existence of well-documented risks resulting from our changing climate

What, then, will be the result of this executive order?

Step toward self-destruction

Trump’s executive order reversing the climate protections introduced by former President Barack Obama will stand as another milestone in a gradually failing administration.

Just as Trump demonstrated a lack of knowledge, negotiating skills and general competency in the dramatic failure of Trumpcare last week, so too will this executive order ultimately act to undermine the administration.

Even if it does salvage some coal jobs, this won’t outweigh missed opportunities in the renewables sector. It’s a round conclusion that the US turning its back on the development of renewable energy will set the country back economically. …

China and the European Union will now have to take the lead, as they’ve already been doing. …

Where will this story end? http://www.dw.com/en/opinion-trumps-attack-on-the-climate-will-fail-spectacularly/a-38184209

The US is becoming a “rogue state” as it backslides on hard-fought global pact, say international observers http://www.climatechangenews.com/2017/03/28/trump-reneges-on-us-climate-pledge-but-stays-in-paris-agreement/

March 28, 2017

Trump’s executive order puts the world on the road to climate catastrophe

It’s so egregious, it no longer really matters if he doesn’t formally opt out of the Paris climate deal. ...

This is not politics as usual. The irreversible consequences of Trump’s actions would rank as one of the most tragic blunders of all time. ...

But far more importantly, this order makes America a rogue nation in the global fight to save the climate, comparable to Vladimir Putin’s Russia. ...

America is not just the second-biggest annual carbon polluter, but we are the biggest cumulative source of CO2 over the past century and the richest country in the world. https://thinkprogress.org/trumps-executive-order-on-climate-just-turned-the-u-s-into-a-rogue-nation-6bf6cccbda91

30 March 2017

ROME, March 30 (Reuters) - The Vatican urged U.S. President Donald Trump to listen to "dissenting voices" and reconsider his position on climate change on Thursday, saying the United States risked being supplanted by China as leader in environmental protection.

Pope Francis has made defense of the environment a key plank of his papacy, strongly backing scientific opinion that global warming is caused mostly by human activity. https://www.aol.com/article/news/2017/03/30/vatican-urges-trump-to-reconsider-his-stance-on-climate-change/22018621/

The United Nations tends to turn against "rogue nations" when it wishes. Donald Trump is also not a supporter of the UN. Watch also The USA Declared a 'Rogue Nation'!

Donald Trump's position on the enviroment and other points from his administration has concerned many:

19 January 2019

In his first two years in office, US President Donald Trump pulled the US out of the landmark international nuclear arms agreement with Iran, out of the signature global climate accord ... Because of its potential long-term negative consequences for international efforts to combat global warming, Nye ranks the US withdrawal from the Paris climate compact among Trump's most damaging political decisions yet. https://www.dw.com/en/two-years-in-donald-trump-remains-the-unprecedented-president/a-47113128

US accused of blocking ambitious global action against plastic pollution

15 March 2019

Environmental groups involved in talks at a United Nations conference in Kenya have accused the US of blocking an ambitious global response to plastic pollution. … a coalition of environmental groups at the conference condemned the US for blocking the ambitious attempts to tackle plastic pollution at source as well as downstream. …

“It’s hard to find one solution for all member states,” Siim Kiisler, the president of the UN environment assembly, told Agence France-Presse before the final decision. “The environment is at a turning point. We don’t need verbose documents, we need concrete commitments.”

When asked whether the US had pushed to have the commitments watered down during the week’s negotiations, Kiisler said: “I will not answer that question.”

David Azoulay, from the Center for International Environmental Law, condemned the weakening of the commitment.

He said: “The vast majority of countries came together to develop a vision for the future of global plastic governance. Seeing the US, guided by the interests of the fracking and petrochemical industry, leading efforts to sabotage that vision is disheartening.” https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/mar/15/us-accused-of-blocking-ambitious-global-action-against-plastic-pollution-un-conference-environment

The separation between the USA and its European allies iis going to become even more real (though many will act like it is not until it is too late for the USA).

The time will come when friends and allies will turn against the USA:

1 How lonely sits the city
That was full of people!
How like a widow is she,
Who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces
Has become a slave!

2 She weeps bitterly in the night,
Her tears are on her cheeks;
Among all her lovers
She has none to comfort her.
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
They have become her enemies. (Lamentations 1:1-2)

According to Bible prophecy, despite not intending to (cf. Isaiah 10:7), the Europeans will essentially decide they need to take over the USA per Daniel 11:39. If more and more consider the USA to be a rogue nation, it will be easier to persuade more to support the takeover. Climate positions of the USA may be something that will be used to justify the takeover.

As mentioned the Bible shows this will happen, even though the Europeans do not think that they want to:

5 "Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger
And the staff in whose hand is My indignation.
6 I will send him against an ungodly nation,
And against the people of My wrath
I will give him charge,
To seize the spoil, to take the prey,
And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 Yet he does not mean so,
Nor does his heart think so;
But it is in his heart to destroy,
And cut off not a few nations.
8 For he says,
'Are not my princes altogether kings?
9 Is not Calno like Carchemish?
Is not Hamath like Arpad?
Is not Samaria like Damascus?
10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols,
Whose carved images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria,
11 As I have done to Samaria and her idols,
Shall I not do also to Jerusalem and her idols?'" (Isaiah 10:5-11)

More on the Assyria can be found in the articles Germany's Assyrian Roots Throughout History and Germany in Biblical Prophecy. More on Samaria in the articles Anglo - America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel and Spiritual Samaritans: Old and New.

The UN's and Vatican's climate change agenda will end it ways that the USA has simply not imagined.

United Nations Does See Problems

Does the United Nations recognize there are problems now?

Yes.

And it does help in various ways.

But it does not always understand the proper solution:

September 25, 2014

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warns of ‘turbulence’ ahead, with wars, refugees, disease and climate change

WHEN the Secretary-general of the United Nations says the world seems to be falling apart, perhaps we should sit up and listen.

The United Nations chief last night gave his “state of the world” address. Put simply, he thinks it’s awful.

“This year, the horizon of hope is darkened” were his exact words. …

“The world’s ‘fasten seat belt’ light is illuminated. Turbulence is testing the multilateral system, national institutions and people’s lives.”

In other words, prepare for a rough ride. …

“Not since the end of the Second World War have there been so many refugees, displaced people and asylum seekers. Never before has the United Nations been asked to reach so many people with emergency food assistance and other lifesaving supplies,” he said in his address at the opening of the UN General Assembly’s annual ministerial meeting. …

He called for world leaders to join together to ease the plight of nearly unprecedented numbers of refugees, the displaced and victims of violence and disease.

“But leadership is precisely about finding the seeds of hope and nurturing them into something bigger,” the UN chief told presidents, prime ministers, monarchs and ministers from the UN’s 193 member states.

“That is our duty,” Ban said. “That is my call to you today.”  http://www.news.com.au/world/un-secretarygeneral-ban-kimoon-warns-of-turbulence-ahead-with-wars-refugees-disease-and-climate-change/story-fndir2ev-1227069828195

Notice that Ban Ki-Moon essentially called on world leaders to unite to prevent the situation from getting worse and put his hope in that.

Other than his hope in this present world, what Ban Ki-Moon stated sounded similar to what Jesus said on the Mount of Olives:

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.  5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.  6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.  7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.  8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.  (Matthew 24:4-8)

Jesus’ statement that the sorrows were not yet the end are consistent with Ban Ki-Moon’s. However, while Ban Ki-Moon put his hope that humans could solve the problems without the God of the Bible. Jesus taught that the situation would eventually worsen, God would insure the solution (the gospel of the kingdom) would be proclaimed to the world as a witness,  and then things would get so bad that God has to intervene to stop the world from being destroyed:

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.  17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.  18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.  19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!  20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.  21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.  22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:14-22)

The United Nations was never God’s hope for humanity, the Kingdom of God was. At that remains the true hope for this world. For more information, check out the free online booklet The Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

We are having climate problems and that was expected. Back in 2009, my book, 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect mentioned the following was about to happen:

The world is actually in a berserk transition, as the real age of peace is not yet here. It may be a period of chaos. It is the beginning of sorrows Matthew 24:8

The problems that the world is now facing should be a wake-up call to repent (see also Weather Blessings and Sorrows).  The ‘trumpet’ warnings are going out, but many prefer to put their trust in humankind and not God to solve the problems.

While pollution is a clear factor in climate change, pushing aspects of sexual immorality and other sins as various ones in the UN and various governments have been doing results in 'climate change.' But that is not something that many people wish to seriously consider.

The Bible is clear that humans would destroy the earth and the Jesus has to come before humans do so:

18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth. (Revelation 11:18)

22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:22)

The Bible is clear that various aspects of weather will be used by God prior to Jesus' return. As warnings and as punishments.

Much of the world in the 21st century sees that there have been various forms of 'climate change.' What should be done? Notice what Solomon prayed:

26 "When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, when they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them, 27 then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance.

28 "When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; when their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is; 29 whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, when each one knows his own burden and his own grief, and spreads out his hands to this temple: 30 then hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of the sons of men), 31 that they may fear You, to walk in Your ways as long as they live in the land which You gave to our fathers. (2 Chronicles 6:26-31)

The solution to various weather-climate matters is to pray (see also Prayer: What Does the Bible Teach?) and to repent and properly obey God (see also Where is the True Christian Church Today?).

Christians should care about the environment (see also The Bible, Christians, and the Environment).

The United Nations and others have a plan. But unless they involve God, their plan will NOT work:

1 Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory…every island fled away (Revelation 16:8-9, 20). (Revelation 16:8-9).

Sadly, unless people will not properly repent and turn to the God of the Bible, 'global warming' will happen beyond what most now think is possible.

Yes, Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers' (Matthew 5:9), He also taught that the Kingdom of God was the solution (Mark 1:14, Matthew 24:14; Revelation) and His word explained, regarding those of the world who would not heed scripture, "the way of peace they have not known" (Isaiah 59:8; Romans 3:17).

The United Nations 2015 'Sustainable Agenda' by 2030

Many world leaders, including Pope Francis as well as Klaus Schwab (head of the World Economic Forum), believe that  it will be international human cooperation that will bring peace and prosperity, and not the Kingdom of God. And while they will have some temporal successes, they will not only not succeed, their human efforts will ultimately bring planet Earth to the point that it would make life unsustainable if Jesus did not return to establish His Kingdom.

Notice a warning from the Apostle Paul to the Galatians:

3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. (Galatians 1:3-10)

It is Jesus, not the United Nations, who will deliver us from the present evil world. The UN has helped in some things, but it does not have a biblical focus.

Here is something directly from the United Nations:

Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Preamble This Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. We recognise that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan. We are resolved to free the human race from the tyranny of poverty and want and to heal and secure our planet. We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path. As we embark on this collective journey, we pledge that no one will be left behind. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets which we are announcing today demonstrate the scale and ambition of this new universal Agenda. They seek to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what these did not achieve. ...

The Goals and targets will stimulate action over the next fifteen years in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet:

People

We are determined to end poverty and hunger, in all their forms and dimensions, and to ensure that all human beings can fulfil their potential in dignity and equality and in a healthy environment.

Planet

We are determined to protect the planet from degradation, including through sustainable consumption and production, sustainably managing its natural resources and taking urgent action on climate change, so that it can support the needs of the present and future generations.

Prosperity

We are determined to ensure that all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives and that economic, social and technological progress occurs in harmony with nature.

Peace We are determined to foster peaceful, just and inclusive societies which are free from fear and violence. There can be no sustainable development without peace and no peace without sustainable development.

Partnership

We are determined to mobilize the means required to implement this Agenda through a revitalised Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, based on a spirit of strengthened global solidarity, focussed in particular on the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable and with the participation of all countries, all stakeholders and all people. The interlinkages and integrated nature of the Sustainable Development Goals are of crucial importance in ensuring that the purpose of the new Agenda is realised. If we realize our ambitions across the full extent of the Agenda, the lives of all will be profoundly improved and our world will be transformed for the better.

DECLARATION

Introduction

1. We, the Heads of State and Government and High Representatives, meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 25-27 September 2015 as the Organization celebrates its seventieth anniversary, have decided today on new global Sustainable Development Goals.

2. On behalf of the peoples we serve, we have adopted a historic decision on a comprehensive, far-reaching and people-centred set of universal and transformative Goals and targets. We commit ourselves to working tirelessly for the full implementation of this Agenda by 2030. We recognize that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. We are committed to achieving sustainable development in its three dimensions – economic, social and environmental – in a balanced and integrated manner. We will also build upon the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals and seek to address their unfinished business.

3. We resolve, between now and 2030, to end poverty and hunger everywhere; to combat inequalities within and among countries; to build peaceful, just and inclusive societies; to protect human rights and promote gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls; and to ensure the lasting protection of the planet and its natural resources. We resolve also to create conditions for sustainable, inclusive and sustained economic growth, shared prosperity and decent work for all, taking into account different levels of national development and capacities.

4. As we embark on this great collective journey, we pledge that no one will be left behind. Recognizing that the dignity of the human person is fundamental, we wish to see the Goals and targets met for all nations and peoples and for all segments of society. And we will endeavour to reach the furthest behind first.

5. This is an Agenda of unprecedented scope and significance. It is accepted by all countries and is applicable to all, taking into account different national realities, capacities and levels of development and respecting national policies and priorities. These are universal goals and targets which involve the entire world, developed and developing countries alike. They are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development. ...

Sustainable Development Goals

10.2 By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status
10.3 Ensure equal opportunity and reduce inequalities of outcome, including by eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices and promoting appropriate legislation, policies and action in this regard ...

We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to achieving this Agenda and utilizing it to the full to transform our world for the better by 2030. https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/post2015/transformingourworld accessed 0904/15

The above was formally adopted by the United Nations on September 25, 2015, not too long after Pope Francis spoke before the UN that day--he also applauded the approval:

September 25, 2015

UNITED NATIONS (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – World leaders on Friday adopted the most sweeping agenda ever of global goals to combat poverty, inequality and climate change, capping years of debate and saying now is the time for “a little less conversation, a little more action.”Described by the United Nations secretary-general as “a to-do list for people and planet,” the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, are to be implemented over the next 15 years with a big global push to win public and political support.

The 193 U.N. member nations formally adopted the goals in the shadow of the worst refugee crisis since World War II, calling for shared peace and prosperity.

Pope Francis called the adoption of the SDGs “an important sign of hope.”

“Solemn commitments, however, are not enough, even though they are a necessary step toward solutions,” said the Pope as the Vatican flag flew for the first time outside the United Nations where security was heightened for his visit.

He said world leaders must follow through with “a will which is effective, practical, constant, with concrete steps and immediate measures” to protect the environment and end social and economic exclusion. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/09/26/us-development-goals-adoption-idUSKCN0RP2FL20150926.

While many consider that this is good news--and I support reductions in pollution, sustainable agriculture, reducing hunger, peace, etc., the UN's 2030 agenda will not be attained as stated (though many of the objectives should be worked on). To push for some of these items, Klaus Schwab called for something called 'the great reset' in order to move in that direction (see ‘No Privacy, No Property: The World in 2030 According to the WEF’ ‘The Great Reset’).

Now, even the UN declared above that its earlier "Millennium Development Goals" did not succeed. The difference at this time is that we have seen changes in the world as well as a pontiff who is more directly involved in endorsing this. As far as Pope Francis goes, he basically laid much of this out in his encyclical titled Laudato Si.

According to the Bible, it will take a combination of a military leader in Europe (called the King of the North, also called the Beast of Revelation 13:1-10) along with a religious leader (called the false prophet, also called THE Antichrist and the two-horned Beast of Revelation 13:11-17) from the city of seven hills (Revelation 17:9,18) to bring in a Babylonian (Revelation 17 & 18). And the Bible teaches that this is not good (Revelation 13, 14, 17, & 18). According to both biblical and Roman Catholic prophecies, certain leaders will push a compromised and changed form of Catholicism that the faithful should avoid.

This is something that the Continuing Church of God has denounced since its inception and plans to continue to denounce. Since the Satan beguiled Eve to fall for a version of his gospel nearly 6000 years ago (Genesis 3), humans have believed that they know better than God what will make them and the world better. It may well be that the 6000 years God gave humans to rule itself will be up between now and the UN's hoped for fully implementation of its 2030 agenda (details on the 6000 year plan are in the article Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?).

Notice also the following assessment of the UN's plans:

October 9, 2015

In a nutshell, if we all behave ourselves and do exactly what the U.N. wants, then in a mere 15 years the entire population of the planet will be able to do something it’s never been able to do in 6,000-plus years of modern human civilization, to wit: “End extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and fix climate change.” Yes really. These 17 goals, when implemented, will achieve those three things. Isn’t that nice? ...

These goals are carefully crafted and worded that no sane person can object to them. After all, who wants more poverty, hunger, or dirty water? Who wants girls and women to be oppressed? Who wants cities and human settlements to be discriminatory, unsafe, failing and unsustainable instead of “inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”? ...

There’s just one picky little problem: how to achieve these goals. How can we “reduce inequality within and among countries”? How do we “ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns”? What’s the best way to “strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development”?

When we put aside the pretty buzz words and disregard the sparkly packaging, it comes down to one thing: force. Remember, there are only two ways to get someone else to do something: persuasion and force. When persuasion doesn’t work, force is the only alternative.

If you have more money than I do and I can’t persuade you to give me some, these U.N. goals means I can force you, at the point of a gun, to give me some of your money so we can “equalize” our wealth. If you have access to better health care than I do, I can force you, at the point of a gun, to make you pay for mine so we can both have “healthy lives.”

If your country is richer than my country, I can force you at the point of a gun – or since we’re talking entire nations, probably at the threat of nuclear annihilation – to give me your wealth and your resources. Now let’s look at these goals from a different angle. What is preventing these goals from being achieved in the first place? What is preventing girls and women from achieving equality? What is preventing “peaceful and inclusive” societies with “justice for all” from happening? What is preventing people from getting educational opportunities or abundant health care?

In other words, what is the source of the equality, the wealth, the security, the sustainability and the inclusiveness these goals demand? It’s very simple. The source of these good things comes from human ingenuity. The only thing that prevents people from exercising the full extent of their ingenuity is other people, particularly collections of other people known as “government.” Only government has the force needed to “persuade” people to obey – forcibly. Throughout history, most systems of government have done their best to rope people into the service of that government. Whether “government” was represented by kings or dictators or tyrants, the purpose of people was to serve their leaders. http://www.wnd.com/2015/10/the-utopia-from-hell/#K9tBTobPKq4G28h5.99

The reality is that the Biblee warns of one who will use force to get control (Revelation 13:4, 16-18). It will take the return of Jesus Christ, and not the UN, to bring about real peace and prosperity for all (though the UN can help in many places).

Although it is claimed to be peaceful, a coming movement will also be propped up through economic intimidation and terror (Revelation 13:15-17), as well as signs and lying wonders that will deceive all but the very elect who have the love of the truth:

24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. (Matthew 24:24-25)

9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)

Well there have been many signs and lying wonders throughout history, the time will come when they will become even worse (2 Timothy 3:13; 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12). The world will be deceived (Revelation 12:9, Mark 13:22).

The time to stand up for the truth is now. While peace is a fine goal (Psalm 122:6; Matthew 5:9) that all of us should work for (cf. Romans 12:18), the Bible warns of a time when false declarations of peace will be indicated and also made:

21 And in his place shall arise a vile person, to whom they will not give the honor of royalty; but he shall come in peaceably, and seize the kingdom by intrigue. 22 With the force of a flood they shall be swept away from before him and be broken, and also the prince of the covenant. 23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time.  (Daniel 11:21-24)

10 “Because, indeed, because they have seduced My people, saying, ‘Peace!’ when there is no peace (Ezekiel 13:10).

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.  (1 Thessalonians 5:3-6)

In the future, some associated with the Vatican (Revelation 13,17), some in the United Nations, certain ones in Europe (it is the European King of the North who comes in peaceably in Daniel 11), and elsewhere will be talking peace (Ezekiel 13:10), yet war and destruction will come.

The Bible clear warns about this coming Babylonian arrangement (Zechariah 2:7) and teaches that the only true unity of the faith will come after that system is destroyed (Revelation 18) and Jesus returns (Revelation 19; Zechariah 2:8-12). However, peaceful cooperation is something all should endorse (cf. Romans 12:18).

A Conferation of Nations of the World Will Fight Against Christ!

As astounding as it sounds, the Bible is clear that the nations of the world will unite against the returning Jesus Christ. When Jesus returns, He will destroy a confederation of nations that are against Him:

11:15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and voices could be heard shouting in heaven, calling, 'The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.' 16 The twenty-four elders, enthroned in the presence of God, prostrated themselves and touched the ground with their foreheads worshipping God 17 with these words, 'We give thanks to you, Almighty Lord God, He who is, He who was, for assuming your great power and beginning your reign. 18 The nations were in uproar and now the time has come for your retribution, and for the dead to be judged, and for your servants the prophets, for the saints and for those who fear your name, small and great alike, to be rewarded. The time has come to destroy those who are destroying the earth.' (Revelation 11:15-18, NJB)

19:6 And I heard what seemed to be the voices of a huge crowd, like the sound of the ocean or the great roar of thunder, answering, 'Alleluia! The reign of the Lord our God Almighty has begun;... 19 Then I saw the beast, with all the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered together to fight the Rider and his army. 20 But the beast was taken prisoner, together with the false prophet who had worked miracles on the beast's behalf and by them had deceived those who had accepted branding with the mark of the beast and those who had worshipped his statue. These two were hurled alive into the fiery lake of burning sulphur. 21 All the rest were killed by the sword of the Rider, which came out of his mouth, and all the birds glutted themselves with their flesh... 20:4 Then I saw thrones, where they took their seats, and on them was conferred the power to give judgement. I saw the souls of all who had been beheaded for having witnessed for Jesus and for having preached God's word, and those who refused to worship the beast or his statue and would not accept the brandmark on their foreheads or hands; they came to life, and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (Revelation 19:6,19-21; 20:4, NJB)

Notice that Jesus will have to destroy world of armies unified against Him.

You should not support this. But whatever is left of the 'United Nations' in the end will.

If you will believe the Bible and truly live as a faithful elect Christian, the Bible shows that you will not have to be deceived as the rest of the world will be (Matthew 24:24; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).

We Christians want to be part of Jesus' 'new world order' (see also Did The Early Church Teach Millenarianism?), not the one that the Bible condemns that the Vatican and United Nations are working on.
