France’s President Macron to receive the Charlemagne Prize: Any relationship between Charlemagne and the Beast of Revelation?

French President Emmanuel Macron is to be given Europe’s ‘Charlemagne Prize’ next May. It is awarded annually by the German city of Aachen for “contributions to European unity.” Charlemagne, himself, was the first one crowned emperor of the old ‘Holy Roman Empire’ (800 A.D.):

Germany’s award-giving city Aachen – bordering Belgium and the Netherlands – on Friday named Macron as its 2018 recipient of the Charlemagne Prize for services to Europe.

Named after Charles the Great, who is credited with first envisioning a united Europe back in the 8th Century, and awarded since 1950, past recipients include British historian Timothy Garton Ash, Pope Francis and former US president Bill Clinton.

Aachen’s present and former mayors Marcel Philipp and Jürgen Linden, who heads the prize committee, said Macron would receive the award on May 10, 2018 for his “vision of a new Europe.”

This speech has been continuing for more than an hour. He’s at Sorbonne University in Paris.

We in the CCOG have always expected a type of United States of Europe. Now President Macron is to get an award for advocating for it.

The type of unity that President Macron has promoted will not end well for Europe (Revelation 17:12-14; Daniel 11:44-45). Europe needs the Kingdom of God (consider also watching the video Millennial Utopia).

President Macron and Pope Francis’ vision of a European utopia will be a nightmare when a version is realized

The Bible tells of a Babylonian unity between Europe and the church on the seven-hills in Revelation 17:1-9.

Although that relationship will end (Revelation 17:15-16), the Bible tells of a religious leader who is instrumental in promoting the final European Beast of the sea in Revelation 13. That Beast is a warring power:

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”(Revelation 13:4)

That sea is the Mediterranean Sea (Daniel 7:2-8; Numbers 34:6-7; Joshua 1:4; 9:1; 23:4; Ezekiel 47:13-16). Despite some false claims by some, the Beast power is not a nation like Russia, which does not border the Mediterranean Sea, but Europe which does (Russia, however, will be a factor in eliminating the European beast power, see also The Eurasian Union, the Kings of the East, and Bible Prophecy). A comparison of the beasts in Revelation 13 and Daniel 7 shows that they share many of the same characteristics (for some details, you may wish to watch the YouTube video Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).

Any relationship to Charlemagne?

Consider some of what the old Worldwide Church of God reported about Charlemagne:

New King Pepin dies in 768. His sons Charles (Karl) and Carloman jointly succeed to the Frankish throne.

In 771, Carloman dies suddenly, and Charles becomes sole king of the Franks.

Though only 29 years old, Charles is an imposing figure. He literally exudes power and authority!

Charles is 7 feet tall — well over a foot above average height — and robust. He is stately and dignified in bearing, but is known for his warm-heartedness and charity. He speaks a type of Old High German.

But most important, he is a zealous and dedicated Catholic Christian!

Now in undisputed possession of the Frankish throne, Charles directs his efforts against the enemies of his kingdom. His great goal is to reestablish the political unity that had existed in Europe before the invasions of the fifth century.

He first launches a campaign against the fierce Saxons, who are threatening his frontiers. The Saxons are the last great pagan German nation. During the next three decades, Charles will wage 18 campaigns in his costly and bitter struggle against the stubborn Saxons. In 804 they will finally be Christianized at the point of the sword and incorporated into his empire.

Charles also undertakes campaigns against the Bavarians, Avars, Slavs, Bretons, Arabs and numerous other peoples. During his long career, he will conduct 53 expeditions and war against 12 different nations! Charlemagne brought unity through war and the threat of war–that is similar to what the Beast of Revelation will do as well! Charlemagne was at least partially Germanic as will be that Beast (cf. Isaiah 10:5-14; see also Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).

What will happen in Europe will be a Babylonian unity that one day will be destroyed:

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day — death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her. (Revelation 18:4-8)

Despite warnings about this in the Bible in places such as the 17th and 18th chapter of the Book of Revelation, many European leaders continue to promote something that the Bible warns against.

Even yesterday there was another call for a “United States of Europe.” What made this of even more interest is the hope to attain this by 2023 (see German call for a ‘United States of Europe’ in five years).

The Bible shows that Europe will reorganize and end up with a strong leader:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

Many do not understand about this reorganization. But you can (see Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?).

The Bible also shows that Europe will have problems getting along:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)

And we see a mixture in Europe. Europe is fulfilling biblical prophecies. But notice from both the Old and New Testaments that Europe is NOT destined to bring in a real utopia, but the united European power will be eliminated by God:

44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. (Daniel 2:44)

14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. (Revelation 17:14)

The Bible warns that nearly all on the earth in the final end times will be deceived (2 Thessalonian 2:9-12) and fall for it (Revelation 13:8). Have the ‘love of the truth’ so that you will not fall for this as more and more are coming to believe that European and other worldly unity is the key to peace.

Human efforts to do this apart from the true God are clearly destined to fail.

Europe giving out the Charlemagne Prize will not change that.
