Obama Book #1 Again? Fiscal Cliff an Economic & Military Danger

Probably because of his re-election late Tuesday, the Kindle edition of my book Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States–Amazon Kindle edition: is “number 1 in Kindle” for one of its three categories (and number 2 and 3 for the other two):

This does not mean that I have sold a huge number of books (being number 1 in a category is not the same as being on the New York Times best sellers list), but that sales for the book have improved a lot this week. And this position may drop relatively soon.

But the reason to report that is that it shows that there is interest in prophecy and concerns about the USA.  The upcoming “fiscal cliff” that the USA is facing is a concern to many.  And issues related to it are in my book, along with a lot of biblical prophecy.

As far as the “fiscal cliff” situation, notice some headlines, etc. from the news:

WASHINGTON – The double-whammy of spending cuts and tax hikes set to take effect in January would send the nation into another recession and drive up the jobless rate to 9.1 percent by next fall, congressional budget analysts said.
The startling new report by the Congressional Budget Office comes as Capitol Hill leaders and President Obama prepare for a lame-duck session of Congress where the so-called “fiscal cliff” will take center stage.

The CBO analysis says that the cliff — a combination of automatic tax increases and spending cuts — would cut the deficit by $503 billion through next September, but that the fiscal austerity would cause the economy to shrink by 0.5 percent next year and cost millions of jobs.

This “fiscal cliff” is that taxes in the USA are to raise January 1, 2013 without federal action and automatic spending cuts are also to go into place.

The tax portion has been called “taxmaggedon” and has been partially explained as follows:

TAXMAGEDDON IS COMING ON JANUARY 1, 2013 – THE LARGEST TAX HIKES IN AMERICAN HISTORY…

“Taxmageddon” – the date the largest tax hikes in the history of America will take effect. They will hit families and small businesses in three great waves on January 1, 2013:

FIRST WAVE: EXPIRATION OF 2001 AND 20043 TAX REFLIEF…

SECOND WAVE: OBAMACARE TAX HIKES…

THIRD WAVE: THE ALTERNATIVE MINIMUM TAX AND EMPLOYER TAX HIKES (http://www.libertynewsonline.com/article_301_32285.php)

Basically, the first wave increases income taxes and re-implements the “death tax” for more people.

The second wave will cost high earners a lot, cost working people without government approved medical insurance a lot, and will affect the USA economy in ways few have considered.

The third wave has been estimated to affect 31 million families for the increase of “alternative minimum tax,” all business owners, and even affect charitable contributions.

From an economic perspective, taxmaggedon would hurt the USA, and perhaps quite severely.  Some of it will likely be adjusted, but probably not enough.

The “automatic” spending cuts will hurt families as well as the strength of the USA military. The effect on families could result in increased civil unrest and perhaps rioting.  Other economic factors than the “fiscal cliff” (like unemployment) may also cause protests, rioting, and other forms of civil unrest.

The effects on the military may be something that the military will not truly ever recover from and will put the USA in a vulnerable position.  The USA Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has warned about the dangers of the cuts as “doomsday” (‘Doomsday’ Defense Cuts) and “unthinkable” (Panetta Weighs Unthinkable Defense Cuts) and yet they may well happen.

Now that he has been re-elected, Barack Obama will push for higher taxes, especially from those who already pay a lot of taxes.  President Obama is expected to make a public statement today to try to tell those in the USA that he will not allow the “fiscal cliff” situation to get as bad as many expect.  But the truth is that it is likely that at least some taxes will be raised and some military spending cut or curtailed (how social programs will be handled is an open question).   Pretty much no matter what is done, the total debt in the USA will still increase.

The economic, debt, and moral situations in the USA are serious. None of them can continue indefinitely and will end in ways that most Americans really do not believe is possible (cf. Daniel 11:39; Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).
