Obama goes on Leno and supposedly cancels meeting with Russia’s Putin because of Snowden asylum

In a rare diplomatic rebuke, U.S. President Barack Obama says he is canceling next month’s planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

The White House said Obama still plans to travel to Russia to attend the Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg. But instead of flying to Moscow afterwards, he intends to head to Sweden.

The Obama administration was angered by Russia’s grant of temporary asylum last week to Edward Snowden, the former U.S. intelligence contractor who leaked details of clandestine surveillance programs being conducted by the United States. Obama had asked Russia to expel Snowden to face U.S. espionage charges, but Putin rejected the request…

Obama, in a U.S. television appearance Tuesday night NBC-TV’s Tonight Show, said he was “disappointed” when Russia granted asylum to Snowden…there is no U.S.-Russian extradition treaty…

Separately, in answer to a question about Russia’s new law banning what it calls gay propaganda, Obama said he has “no patience” with foreign laws discriminating against gays and lesbians. President Barack Obama said Tuesday the anti-gay laws in Russia are a prime example of violating “universal rights.”

Jay Leno asked Obama about the laws, and the “Tonight Show” host didn’t mince words…

“I have no patience for countries that try to treat gays or lesbians or transgender persons in a way that intimidate them or are harmful to them,” Obama responded, while stressing that “Russia is not unique,” and noting he’s had to balance his pressure over laws like these within larger relationships with several African nations as well. http://www.politico.com/story/2013/08/barack-obama-russia-anti-gay-laws-95266.html#ixzz2bIGYzMsf

But, Obama acknowledged, despite the American-Russian cooperation over things like supplying troops in Afghanistan or tracking terrorists after the Boston Marathon bombings, he’s not surprised that things have reached this point with Moscow.

“In some ways it’s reflective of what’s been going on with Russia lately,” Obama said— “not major breaks,” but important ones that show a government he said is not living in 2013

The USA President can decide who he does and does not wish to meet with, but not meeting with Russia’s President Putin would not be expected to help USA relations with Russia.

While the Edward Snowden matter is the reason given for the cancellation, it would not surprise me if part of the reason for cancelling the meeting is that Vladimir Putin is probably the most powerful political leader in the world to recently come out against homosexual marriage and other aspects of the homosexual agenda (see, for example, Russia’s Putin blasts West on Syria and Western media disapproves of his position on homosexuality).

I suspect that President Obama may have decided that cancelling the meeting with President Putin would show he took action related to Edward Snowden as well as to show that he is not pleased that Vladimir Putin took a public stand closer to biblical standards of morality against aspects of homosexuality. While President Obama may have decided this move will help him politically, his own approving and promoting aspects of the homosexual agenda is still wrong and will lead to destruction.

The Bible clearly warns of destruction that will come from the accepting of sins such as homosexuality, including lesbianism:

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. The ‘gay’ agenda will end in destruction. Yet various government officials, like Barack Obama, are promoting it. They apparently do not take the warnings of the Bible seriously and do not want others to be too bold in proclaiming what the Bible teaches on this subject.
