Obama sends video to Iran to try to propose a nuclear bomb deal

US President Barack Obama sent a message to Iran today:

WASHINGTON: President Barack Obama sent a video message to Iranians on Thursday to say there is a chance to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran if Tehran takes verifiable steps to assure the West its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

“I’m under no illusions. This will be difficult,” Obama said in a message to mark the Iranian holiday Nowruz. “But I’m NEWS1committed to diplomacy because I believe there is the basis for a practical solution.”

The United States and five other major powers are trying to reach a comprehensive deal to deny Iran a nuclear bomb capability after reaching a six-month temporary deal implemented on Jan. 20…

Obama’s Nowruz message was aimed at fostering good will with the Iranian people and encouraging them to welcome a nuclear agreement.

“There is a chance to reach an agreement if Iran takes meaningful and verifiable steps to assure the world that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only,” he said. “Iran would have access to peaceful nuclear energy.”

Obama’s Iran overture is not without controversy in the US Congress. A wide majority of US senators this week urged Obama to insist that any final agreement state that Iran “has no inherent right to enrichment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.”

In his Nowruz message, Obama said a comprehensive agreement would help move Iran along a new path and ease the economic hardships that sanctions have caused.

“If Iran meets its international obligations, we know where the path of dialogue and greater trust and cooperation can lead. Some in Israel do not have confidence that Barack Obama will stop Iran and that Israel will have to take steps itself:

Ukraine may have been the final straw to convince Ya’alon that Obama is really going to let Iran go nuclear. And that if the Shiite bomb is going to be stopped, it’s going to be stopped by Israel…

Jerusalem could not afford to rely on US President Barack Obama to lead an action against Iran’s nuclear program, Ya’alon reportedly said. Israel had believed that “the one who should lead the campaign against Iran is the US,” but instead, “the US at a certain stage began negotiating with them, and unfortunately in the Persian bazaar the Iranians were better,” he said. Therefore, “we have to look out for ourselves.”

Obama Inc. is predictably reacting by throwing a fit. Obama inc. was furious after Ya’alon called Kerry “messianic”. I reported about the Israeli Defense Ministers comments a couple of days ago (see Israelis worried that USA’s approach to Ukraine leaves them vulnerable to Iran, etc.). It may be because of his comments that Barack Obama decided to make and send the video. But, many are having doubts about the USA President’s rhetoric because of what happened in Crimea.

Since its meetings with the West about its nuclear intentions this past Fall, Iran has announced new nuclear centrifuges. Evidence has also come out that its nuclear intentions have not clearly been entirely peaceful (see Iranian report suggests Iran has wanted nuclear weapons because of the mystical 12th Imam).

Nuclear centrifuges, which Iran keeps trying to perfect (see Iran boasts of new nuclear centrifuges), basically help enrich uranium to the point that it can be used to develop nuclear energy or nuclear bombs. It is not necessary to substantially enrich uranium for peaceful nuclear power purposes. While Iran is publicly claiming their intentions are peaceful, many believe that its real goal is to produce nuclear weapons, hence improved centrifuges will give it a better ability to make weapons.

Iran’s use of nuclear bombs or dirty bombs (conventional bombs containing radioactive materials) would be dangerous and may well result in its neutralization. As regular readers of the COGwriter news page are aware, I have been warning for some time that a regional war involving Iran, Israel, the USA, and/or Syria seems likely. Since US President Obama has been a bit disgraced by the Crimean situation, it is likely that he is looking for an opportunity to make a show of force to prove that he is not just about rhetoric. The fact that he was involved in bombing Libya, etc., shows that he will engage USA forces when he feels he wants to. He may or not do so to support Israel. But Iran at some point in time will be neutralized (which could possibly instead come from internal unrest and change).

“Neutralizing” Iran would allow most of the other Islamic states (like Saudi Arabia and Egypt) to continue to exist (Syria might not do well per Isaiah 17:1) and allow for the rising of the prophesied King of the South to rise up.

The top leadership of Iran has a Shi’ite Muslim agenda, which they have concluded includes causing chaos and war. I, for one, do not believe that Iran’s leaders have given up on their goals of Islamic domination.
