Wrong Protestant view about the coming ‘blood moons’
The first of four blood moons is expected in 2014 and 2015 is just a few days away. Now the Australians are reporting about this:
Alignment of Mars, Earth and Sun could herald ‘End of Days’
April 9, 2014
IT’S been touted a rare astrological event that could herald the ‘End of Days’...
Mars, Earth and the Sun today aligned in a rare ‘opposition of the planets’ that only happens once every 778 days.
And it comes six days before a full lunar eclipse occurs when the entirety of the moon is shaded by Earth and appears as an eerie reddish colour…
Some Christians believe the phenomenon represents the End of Days and the second coming of Christ…
Pastor and author John Hagee, from San Antonio, Texas, has written a book on the phenomenon. He believes today marks the dawn of a ‘hugely significant event’ for the world.
He says: “This is not something that some religious think tank has put together.
“NASA has confirmed that the Tetrad has only happened three times in more than 500 years — and that it’s going to happen now.”
The first Tetrad since the Middle Ages, in 1493, saw the expulsion of Jews by the Catholic Spanish Inquisition, which rocked western Europe.
The second coincided with the establishment of the State of Israel – after thousands of years of struggle – in 1949.
The last one occurred in 1967 – far earlier than expected – precisely at the time of the Six-Day Arab–Israeli War…Because Europe and most of Asia will be turned away from the moon and will be in daylight during the eclipse, the majority of the world’s population will miss out on this shady celestial drama. http://www.news.com.au/technology/science/alignment-of-mars-earth-and-sun-could-herald-end-of-days/story-fnjwlcze-1226878957918
The first of the four blood moons is expected to be seen on or near April 15, 2014.
John Hagee himself has claimed:
“I believe that the heavens are God’s billboard – that he has been sending signals to planet Earth and we just haven’t been picking them up,” Hagee told his San Antonio, Texas, congregation. “Today, with the help of God’s word and some very astute scientists, I’m going to walk you through 500 years (of four blood moons on Jewish feast days) and show you how God is literally screaming at the world: ‘I am coming soon.’”

Basically he is saying that Jesus is coming soon and these blood moons are trying to tell us something.
The Bible does not support that the occurrence of these blood moons are teaching that Jesus will return or the Day of the Lord start in 2014 or 2015.
How can I be so certain?
Because Jesus listed a variety of events that precede His return and the events of the sun and moon in Matthew 24, and they cannot happen prior to the end of 2015. Furthermore, the seven-year deal of Daniel 9:27 has not taken place as of the date I am writing this (actually, the news today reports that a peace deal is not expected at this time). Notice what Daniel wrote:
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate. (Daniel 9:27)
Since this deal has not happened, there are at least seven years until Jesus return. Since the deal is to be broken in the middle of it, there is least 3 1/2 years before the start of the Great Tribulation (cf. Matthew 24:15-21; Daniel 11:31; for more details, please see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).
So, when Jesus does not come, the Great Tribulation does not start, and the Day of the Lord does not begin in 2014 or 2015, some people may sadly point to people like John Hagee to attempt to prove that various prophecies will not come to pass. But, there is “a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed” (2 Peter 1:19, KJV)–it is just that neither John Hagee or those who agree with him on this have it. But we in the Continuing Church of God do. Since Catholics are not pushing this tetrad ‘blood moon’ issue, it may well be that once it is all proven wrong, Catholics will push some Protestants to support them as Protestants will again see that their leaders like John Hagee and the late Harold Camping (see Harold Camping’s Teachings About the End of the World Do Not Agree with the Bible ) were false interpreters of prophecy.
On the other hand, if by tribulation, various Protestant proponents mean confirming of the the seven-year deal of Daniel 9:27, this is possible for September or October of 2014 or 2015. Though it is a bit early to know that for certain. But the deal, which has not even been made, is not expected to be confirmed by a European power on April 15, 2014.
Certain Protestants call the ‘tribulation’ the seven-year period that coincides with the ‘week’ of Daniel 9:27, which they have followed by the “Great Tribulation” starting 3 1/2 years later. Some Protestants believe that the first 3 1/2 years of their seven-year tribulation will not seem to be that bad, but that the last 3 1/2 years will be.
Additionally, it remains my view that most will not actually recognize the deal that will be associated with Daniel 9:27, and hence will not take proper steps to be protected from the Great Tribulation that will start 3 1/2 years later. This does not just include Protestants, but also most who claim to be part of the Church of God.
