Kurds want to vote on independence, USA opposed

On USA Independence Day, Voice of America, a US government supported news source, reported the following:

The president of Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region has asked his parliament to prepare for a referendum on independence, a measure that drew the United States’ swift objection.
Massoud Barzani told the region’s legislature in a speech Thursday that it is “time to decide about our self-determination and not to wait for other people to decide for us.”
And in an interview with VOA, he called self-rule “a natural right that must be achieved. Independence must be achieved. I believe now the conditions are also favorable for independence.”
Barzani asked the lawmakers to form a committee to organize the referendum and pick an election date.
The Obama administration reacted quickly, saying Iraq must remain unified as it battles the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The Sunni-led militant group has taken over large swaths of western and central Iraq in its quest to establish an Islamic state.
“The best way for Iraq to confront the threat that’s posed by ISIL is to unify the country in the face of that existential threat,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said.
Barzani’s request to the Kurdish legislature comes days after Iraq’s new parliament ended its first session since April’s election without selecting a new leader. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who is in the process of forming a new government, so far has ignored growing demands for him to step down. http://www.voanews.com/content/iraqs-kurds-push-for-independence-vote-us-objects/1950548.html
That being said, there will be other changes coming to Iraq. Eventually, at least parts of its will support the coming King of the South of biblical prophecy (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:2-8).
The Kurds, which may also provide some support to that king, have long wanted independence and are getting more and more disappointed that the USA does not support them in their objective here.
Interestingly, from a British perspective, North America essentially split into three pieces when the USA became independent in the 18th century. There were the Canadian colonies, the Caribbean colonies, and the USA.
The Kurds were abused under Saddam Hussein and other Iraqi governments. And, in my opinion, much more abused than the American colonies were when they declared their independence from Britain on July 4, 1776.
The Bible warns that destruction is coming to “an hypocritical nation” which it will end up being destroyed (Isaiah 10:5-11, KJV). While there are serious problems and conflicts in Iraq, those who think that the USA will not reap what it is sowing (cf. Galatians 6:7-8), are in error (Daniel 11:39).
