Obama signed $1.1 trillion spending bill; Will social unrest hit Europe in 2015?

The Senate of the USA approved the proposed spending bill late last night:

President Barack Obama has signed a $1.1 trillion bill that will fund nearly every federal government agency through 2015.

The only exception in the bill signed Tuesday is the Department for Homeland Security, which will run out of funding at the end of February. Republican leaders limited funding for the agency so it can force the president to reverse his executive order that removes the threat of deportations from millions of undocumented immigrants in the United States. …

Obama said Friday that the bill includes provisions he does not like, but that there are other parts that ensure progress would continue on health insurance, climate change, early childhood education and job growth.

Even though today’s $18 trillion in debt does not all fall entirely on President Obama’s shoulders, his administration has exasperated the problem much more than perhaps any president in the history of the United States.

Although some see dangers in the spending practices of the USA, many believe that the USA can continue to increase its debt without severe consequences. That is a wrong belief. The Bible shows that this will not end well for the USA (Habakkuk 2:6-8). Some have realized that it is probably mathematically impossible for the USA to actually pay back its debts (see also U.S. Senate approves $1.1 trillion spending bill–the ‘debt is almost mathematically impossible’ to repay).

But what about Europe?

Financial writer Larry Edelson claims that it has such severe financial problems that it may have social unrest in 2015:

Almost everyone I talk to thinks the European sovereign debt crisis is coming to an end. …

I say baloney, to all of it.

First, severe austerity measures continue to this day and they are hollowing out Europe’s economic growth. …

Clearly, all the austerity measures that Europe has implemented have done nothing to reduce debt levels.

Meanwhile, it’s created some of the worst social chaos we have seen in modern times.

Second, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Greece remain hotbeds for massive social unrest.

Each and every one of these countries is in hock way over its head. And each and every one of them is in the depths of a nightmare caused by austerity measures.

Spain’s unemployment is stubbornly high at 24 percent. Portugal’s, 13.4 percent. Italy’s, 13.2 percent. Greece’s, 25.9 percent.

Unemployment among youth is still off the charts. From the second quarter of 2008, the youth unemployment rate — those under 25 years of age — has skyrocketed and now stands at a whopping 23.1 percent.

All told, over 24 million people are jobless in the 28 European member states.

Although the Bible teaches that Europe will be the economic leader of the world for a time (and according to IMF figures, the combined nations of the European Union actually already represent the largest economy in the world), the Bible also teaches that Europe will have troubles. The Bible shows some parts of Europe will be strong while others weak (Daniel 2:41-43).

Secular analysts tend to miss that.

However, this does not mean that there will not be massive social unrest in Europe. Church of God writers have long felt that economic factors would facilitate the rise of the final European Beast power. In a sermon on July 7, 1984, the late Herbert W. Armstrong stated:

And I can see now, the event that is going to trigger the formation of the reunification in Europe; the resurrection of the medieval Holy Roman Empire that we’ve been looking forward to that is prophesied to come…

But I believe that some event is going to happen suddenly just like out a blue sky that is going to shock the whole world and is going to cause the nations in Europe to realize they must unite! … Well now I think I can see what may be the very event that is going to trigger…that is the economic situation in the world…

The whole banking structure in the United States is a network all jointed together. But not only that, one nation has to deal with other nations and imports and exports. And so they have to have a means of transforming money from one nation to another. And so the banking structure is international and interwoven…

Now when the financial structure breaks down, all civilization is going to break down…

I expect civil unrest in the USA as well as Europe.

This will lead to other events, including religious-related ones. The European Beast power will start to rise up. While many will believe that this will lead to peace, sudden destruction will come:

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-5)

The sudden destruction will hit the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended nations first (Jeremiah 30:7), then a few years later, destruction will come to Europe.

Until then, we will see ups and downs, prosperity and troubles, and times of civil unrest.
