Rubio calls Trump a ‘con artist’; WP on end of ‘Christian America’
Iowa Caucuses top vote getters
The Republican party candidates debated last night and had some attacks again today, while Hillary Clinton seemed confident today (bolding below mine):

The latest debate among Republican candidates for the U.S. presidency Thursday turned into a shouting match as the candidates tackled issues such as illegal immigration, U.S. policy in the Middle East and transparency of candidates’ tax records.
Billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump repeated his claim that he would make Mexico pay for the wall he has proposed building on the U.S. southern border to curb illegal immigration. Because of objections from Mexican leaders on the issue, he said, “the wall just got 10 feet higher.”
His closest rivals, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Texas Senator Ted Cruz, accused Trump of using illegal immigrant labor in some of his high-profile building projects. Both said Trump was forced to pay a $1 million fine for hiring illegal immigrants. http://www.voanews.com/content/republican-candidates-squabble-over-immigration-foreign-policy/3209039.html

HOUSTON (AP) — Marco Rubio waged an all-out verbal assault on Donald Trump Friday morning as his allies prepared to spend millions on new attack ads in key states, promising an aggressive and well-funded takedown effort the morning after the Republican front-runner was knocked on his heels on the debate stage.
Rubio, the leading aggressor during the debate, picked up where he left off Friday morning. In several television interviews, he questioned Trump’s business background, his ability to lead the nation, and repeatedly called the billionaire businessman a “con artist” who has spent decades “sticking it to the little guy.”
“A con artist is about to take over the Republican Party and the conservative movement, and we have to put a stop to it,” Rubio charged on CBS’ “This Morning.”
The comments come as the GOP presidential candidates barreled into the final stretch to Super Tuesday following after a name-calling, insult-trading, finger-pointing final debate in which Rubio and Ted Cruz engaged in a tag-team attack intended to slow Trump’s momentum before it’s too late.
“I’ve dealt with tougher,” Trump sniffed after taking incoming for two-plus hours Thursday night. He said he knew the attacks were coming because “they’re desperate. They’re losing by massive amounts.” …
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton claimed new momentum on Friday on the eve of a South Carolina Democratic primary that she’s expected to win handily.
“I think it does take me a little bit longer to get into the rhythm of campaigning,” she said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” ”We hit our stride in Nevada. Our message of breaking all barriers is really beginning to take hold. I really felt we were on an upward trajectory.” http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_CAMPAIGN_2016?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2016-02-26-08-17-32
As far as Marco Rubio’s con artist comment, he is not the only one to question Donald Trump’s “conservative credential.” While I do not plan to go into that, look at something that a reader sent me from the Washington Post (WP):
Why we can now declare the end of ‘Christian America’
February 25, 2016
Political leaders feel the need to appear Christian, say Christian-sounding things, show up at Christian institutions, and end their speeches with “God bless America!” American money proclaims “In God we trust.” What could be more Christian than that?
The current election cycle is demonstrating (once again) that the rhetoric and mythology of a uniquely Christian America should come to an end. Why? Because the votes don’t lie.Though voters may speak piously and rather vaguely about Christian values and ideals, polls and election results communicate clearly that this is a nation consumed by fear, anger and suspicion, none of which are Christian virtues. …
In Matthew’s gospel (chapter 25) readers are taken to the time when God judges all the nations of the world. It is a rather terrifying scene because many of the people present are convinced that they are the legitimate inheritors of the Kingdom of God.
But God is not fooled. …
How will America fare in this time of judgment…? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2016/02/25/why-we-can-now-declare-the-end-of-christian-america/
Well, very few Americans will be found to have been real Christians. But prior to the fulfillment of judgment in Matthew 25, the USA, Canada, and their Anglo-Saxon allies will be punished (Isaiah 10), taken over militarily, and their lands divided (Daniel 11:39).
As far as to why we can now declare the end of ‘Christian America,’ let me state that while the USA was never mainly composed of genuine Christians, it did at least have many who professed belief in the Bible and biblical morality. And even if that was the majority in the past, that no longer is the case. With the massive acceptance of aspects of the homosexual agenda by even many evangelicals, and the general national acceptance of abortion, rampant pornography in the media, etc. we are clearly in a situation where clear aspects of biblical moral instructions are opposed.
While I do not agree with the writer at the Washington Post who claimed that voters never lie, it is abundantly clear that the two front runners in the Democratic party, both of who favor abortion and the LGBT agenda are not Christian. Bernie Sanders calls himself a secular Jew, so he unlike the others, does not pretend to be a Christian.
Both Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton and Republican front runner Donald Trump claim to be Christian, but it should be clear to voters that neither are. For more details about Hillary Clinton see Hillary Clinton in Prophecy. For more details on Donald Trump, who indicates that he is not repentant before God, see Donald Trump in Prophecy.
It is clear so far, that the majority of primary voters in the USA are supporting candidates that cannot possibly be considered to be real Christians.
Notice also a disturbing comment from a secular source that generally supports democracy:
All political campaigns lie and mislead. We all know that, and that knowledge is “baked into the cake,” so to speak, when it comes to assessing candidates. (Bookman J. GM on Romney: ‘Campaign politics at its cynical worst.’ Atlanta Journal Constitution, October 31, 2012. http://blogs.ajc.com/jay-bookman-blog/2012/10/31/gm-on-romney-campaign-politics-at-its-cynical-worst/)
No candidate should lie or mislead. And while I am not agreeing with the statement that they all do, the reality is that it is not godly conduct to lie or mislead, and that not only reflects unfavorably on the candidates, but also the process of modern democracy.
Notice a secular view related to the 2012 USA presidential election as it has some ideas to ponder:
When confronted with the false dilemma of the democratic political process, many individuals settle for the “less of two evils” as a kind of compromise. But one suspects (or hopes) they do so with a certain degree of moral discomfort. Ask a disciple of the Elephant Party, for example, if he agrees with the murderous drone attacks this moment underway in Pakistan and you will likely offend a delicate delusion of “Democrats for Peace.” Similarly, press any Donkey Party advocate on the issue of economic freedom and watch them squirm under close scrutiny of their own candidate’s position vis-à-vis the IRS, the Federal Reserve, the indigestible, 75,000- page tax code, etc., etc., etc….
Contrary to the popular snipe that “only those who vote have the right to complain,” common sense leads us to quite the opposite conclusion. It is only those who have not aggressed against others who have the right to complain when they are aggressed against. Those who, to invert a phrase, “feed the mouth that bites them,” may stand firmly, but do so on shaky ground.
A vote for either evil is nonetheless a vote for evil. (Daily Reckoning, October 19, 2012)
The Bible is clear that humankind, apart from God, cannot solve its problems. Jesus will return and He will be the non-humanly elected King of Kings (Revelation 17:14). Problems all humans have faced will be solved by the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Kingdom of God:
3 “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” (Revelation 21:3-5)
No matter which politician gets elected in carnal governments, human political leaders will not bring this about (see also Did The Early Church Teach Millenarianism?).
Christians need to pray.
Notice what Paul wrote:
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior (1 Tim 2:1-3).
Notice that we are to pray for worldly leaders and those that have authority over us so that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life. Nothing like this is said for voting that many falsely claim is their “Christian” duty–prayer for leaders is.
Jesus also taught His followers to pray for God’s Kingdom to come (Matthew 6:10).
Irrespective of who becomes the next president, by virtue of timing, that leader will be in a sense, apocalyptic. Meaning that steps will be taken that will lead to the end of the USA by the next president. Judgment is coming.
