In the letter, four representatives of EU governments – Claude Bartolone of the French National Assembly, Laura Boldrini of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Norbert Lammert of the German Bundestag, and Mars Di Bartolomeo of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies – say that closer cooperation is essential for dealing with problems that no one EU state can tackle on its own, such as immigration, terrorism, and climate change. …

Now is the moment to move towards closer political integration: Federal Union of States with large skills. We know that the prospect stirs up strong resistance, but the inaction of some can not be the paralysis of all. Those who believe in the European ideal is to be able to revive rather helplessly to its slow decline. …

The letter was published in the run-up to a meeting of parliamentary leaders in Rome on March 17 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, which established the European Economic Community (EEC). The leaders of the lower chambers of parliament of Germany, Italy, France, and Luxembourg have called for a European “Federal Union” in an open letter published in Italian newspaper La Stampa on Sunday. …

“Now is the moment to move towards closer political integration — the Federal Union of States with broad powers. We know that the prospect stirs up strong resistance, but the inaction of some cannot be the paralysis of all. Those who believe in European ideals, should be able to give them a new life instead of helplessly observing its slow sunset,” the letter read.

The letter’s authors also warn that the European integration project is currently more at risk than ever before, with high unemployment and immigration problems driving populist and nationalist movements. The EU must also come to grips with the fact that, last June, the United Kingdom decided to leave the union after holding a national referendum, aka Brexit, becoming the first member nation to opt out of the bloc.

The statement “The more European integration: the way forward” indicates cleanly things to do to win the European and global challenges. We signed the four of us in the Roman Palazzo Montecitorio September 14, 2015. Today the signatures under the text have become fifteen. We must surrender to the evidence that this number will not increase anymore. This shows that there is a strong willingness to enhanced cooperation, but also that there is a common position of all EU parliaments.

We are convinced that in the face of crisis, we need more Europe, although we have to face headwinds. We can not ignore the social impact that the disastrous economic and financial measures have had on tens of millions of families. We need to focus on growth and jobs that Europe can have no charm for young people if they do not offer them credible job prospects. We must have the courage to share sovereignty in many sectors in which the action of individual States is now totally ineffective and doomed to fail: from global warming to energy policies, from financial markets to the rules for immigration, tax evasion to the fight against terrorism.

Now is the moment to move towards closer political integration: Federal Union of States with large skills.

So, we are seeing more and more in Europe calling for it to get closer together.

This will happen. Yet, first we may see a split into ‘core Europe’ and other nations. In the long run Europe, despite its lack of unity (cf. Daniel 2:41-43) will ultimately reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13) and give its power to the Beast of the Sea of Revelation 13:1-10.

Consider that when Europe was still recovering from being devastated in World War II, after attending a conference related to the start of the UN, in the December 1948 issue of The Plain Truth Herbert W. Armstrong predicted a coming “United States of Europe” when he wrote:

It was the SERMON that shot forth that spark, impregnating the minds of world leaders in attendance. This amazing sermon was delivered by a foremost radio speaker of the Catholic Church, Bishop Duane G. Hunt of Salt Lake City…Without the guidance, supervision, authority of the Catholic Church, he told these men, they were laboring in vain…

This was the Roman Catholic bid to resurrect the so-called “HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE” ! And PROPHECY says they will succeed!…At the psychological time, the pope will step in… Thru this political movement, he will UNIFY…nations in Europe. It will be a “The UNITED STATES OF EUROPE,” but that probably will never become its official name. (Armstrong HW. Now It Can Be Told…The Plain Truth,December 1948, pp. 2,5).

A European Federal Union of States sounds an awful lot like a United States of Europe.

In the past year or so Europe has taken significant steps to do something that the old Worldwide Church of God warned about decades ago. It is trying to get together militarily, while it appears that the USA and UK are more and more throwing their lot in together.

Notice something published back in 1981:

Either Western Europe slides slowly into the Soviet orbit by default– or Europe awakes to the threat, and leaders rise to the fore demanding that free Europe become a “Third Force” to protect Western civilization.

Bible prophecy predicts the latter — that there will be yet again, for the final time, a revival of the Roman Empire in what historians call “classic Europe” — stern and Central Europe. …

The stage is being set for some dramatic realignments of power in Europe. …

The Christian Science Monitor’s Joseph C. Harsch, of the reconstitution of what he calls “the whole of classic Europe.”

“Classic Europe” is nothing other than a new European alignment along the lines of the old Holy Roman Empire, under the Catholic aegis.

Thus, the final resurrection of the Roman Empire may be closer than you think. This will not be good news for the United States — decoupled from Europe — or Britain either. As British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher recently told President Reagan: “We in Britain stand with you.” And a British Foreign Office source told the Associated Press: “She is convinced that Britain’s lot lies with America.” (Hogberg G. As far as reorganization of Europe goes, the Bible tells of at least two more reorganizations to come in Revelation 17:2-13 (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?).

This will not end well for the world (Revelation 18), the USA (Daniel 11:39), its Anglo-Saxon Allies (Daniel 8:24-25), the Muslim nations of the Middle East and North Africa (Daniel 11:40-43), nor Europe itself (Daniel 11:44-45; 2:44; Revelation 17:14).

But politicians are moving ahead in that direction because they do not believe the Bible nor wish to live according to biblical standards.
