Sufi Muslims are essentially the most peaceful of the three main Islamic groups. They teach love, but have some peculiar doctrines. They represent maybe 1% of Muslims.
Here is some information about them:
Sufism or Taṣawwuf (Arabic: الْتَّصَوُّف [sect]; personal noun: صُوفِيّ – ṣūfiyy/ ṣūfī, مُتَصَوّف – mutaṣawwūf), which is often defined as “Islamic mysticism”,”the inward dimension of Islam”, or “the phenomenon of mysticism within Islam”, is a mystical trend in Islam “characterized … [by particular] values, ritual practices, doctrines and institutions” which began very early in Islamic history and represented “the main manifestation and the most important and central crystallization of” mystical practice in Islam. Although the overwhelming majority of Sufis, both pre-modern and modern, were and are adherents of Sunni Islam, there also developed certain strands of Sufi practice within the ambit of Shia Islam during the late medieval period.
Practitioners of Sufism have been referred to as “Sufis” (Arabic plurals: صُوفِيَّة – ṣūfiyyah; صُوفِيُّون – ṣūfiyyūn; مُتَصَوُّفََة – mutaṣawwūfah; مُتَصَوُّفُون – mutaṣawwūfūn), an Arabic word which is believed by historians to have originally indicated the “woolen clothes (ṣūf) or rough garb” worn by the early Islamic mystics. …
The seeker must also, of necessity, turn away from sins, love of this world, the love of company and renown, obedience to satanic impulse, and the promptings of the lower self. (The way in which this purification of the heart is achieved is outlined in certain books, but must be prescribed in detail by a Sufi master.) The seeker must also be trained to prevent the corruption of those good deeds which have accrued to his or her credit by overcoming the traps of ostentation, pride, arrogance, envy, and long hopes (meaning the hope for a long life allowing us to mend our ways later, rather than immediately, here and now). The famous twirling Dervishes of Istanbul are adherents of Sufism.
The NBC story mentioned Egypt’s former President Mohammed Morsi. President Morsi was part of the Muslim Brotherhood. Those that ousted him have taken steps against the Muslim Brotherhood, which seems to have emboldened some of the more violent Muslims in Egypt.
Those affected by terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa, Muslims, Copts, Catholics, Protestants, etc. are in my prayers.
Those perpetuating such violence do not know the love of God, nor place their hope in the Kingdom of God.
Groups like the Muslim Brotherhood are seeking unity among Muslims and want a massive Islamic empire called a caliphate.
Terrorist incidents in the Middle East and North Africa are part of the reason that people there will support a leader that the Bible calls the King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43).
Nations, outside the Arab world, are supportive of greater cooperation between the nations so affected and look to be supportive, also, of the rise of the King of the South.
Something like what the Muslim Brotherhood wants to have happen will one day form, but according to biblical prophecies (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:2-8), this will NOT end well for Egypt.

The Future King of the South is Rising Does the Bible teach that there will be a future King of the South in Daniel 11? Is this kingdom rising up now? Did the old Worldwide Church of God (WCG) teach that there would be another one? And who is the King of the South? How will this involve Egypt? Is the final King of the South some type of Arab-Muslim confederation? Can Iran be involved? Is there a group that seems to be supporting the goals of the King of the South? The Muslim Brotherhood and the Rise of the King of the South The Bible tells of the formation of a power of nations that are in the Middle East and North Africa that are part of the final “King of the South” (Daniel 11:40-43) The Muslim Brotherhood wishes to have an Islamic empire with basically the same nations. This YouTube video explains what to expect from such a confederation.
Is There A Future King of the South? Some no longer believe there needs to be. Might Egypt, Islam, Iran, Arabs, or Ethiopia be involved? Might this King be called the Mahdi? What does the Bible say?
The Arab and Islamic World In the Bible, History, and Prophecy The Bible discusses the origins of the Arab world and discusses the Middle East in prophecy. What is ahead for the Middle East and those who follow Islam? What about the Imam Mahdi? What lies ahead for Turkey, Iran, and the other non-Arabic Muslims? An item of possibly related interest in the Spanish language would be: Líderes iraníes condenan la hipocresía de Occidente y declaran que ahora es tiempo para prepararse para el Armagedón, la guerra, y el Imán Mahdi.
