China pushing ‘New Silk Road’ after completing one road connecting itself into the edge of Europe

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — An official says China wants to further boost cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe where it is already financing infrastructure and other projects as part of a wider bid to increase global influence.
Transport Minister Li Xiaopeng spoke Tuesday at a meeting with officials from 16 countries from the region that focused on transport links.
The initiative is part of China’s wider “New Silk Road” plan to boost influence in Europe and elsewhere in the world through investments and closer economic relations. …

The Chinese recently completed a major road, which connects it to part of the continent of Europe:
A vast motorway stretching from the Yellow Sea off eastern China to the Russian port of St Petersburg has opened to traffic, providing an alternative overland trade route between Asia and Europe.
It will allow lorries to drive from the city of Lianyungang to St Petersburg in ten days, compared with the 45 days it takes by sea. So, transit time can be reduced from 45 days to 10 days. This would be expected to improve trade.
The Chinese continue to look at various ways to better dominate world trade and international influence. This also includes financial influence (watch, for example, US Dollar being challenged by Gold-Petro-Yuan).
But various ones are concerned about this:

A recent seminar run by the New Zealand China Council in Marlborough was held to convince business and local government of the benefits of reviving the ancient silk road trade routes for New Zealand.
A woman at the event asked if China’s aim was global domination, a sentiment echoed around the world.

EU launches Asia strategy to rival China’s ‘new Silk Road’
As doubts grow over China’s vast “Belt and Road” trade infrastructure project, the EU is launching an alternative plan for Asia that it says will not saddle countries with debt they cannot repay.
EU member countries are expected to sign off on the new “Asia connectivity strategy”—which aims to improve transport, digital and energy links while promoting environmental and labour standards—in time for a major summit of European and Asian leaders next month.
Brussels insists the scheme is not a response to any other player, but its launch comes as the sheen fades on Beijing’s “new Silk Road” initiative, which envisions railways, roads and ports being built across the globe using billions of dollars in Chinese loans.
Federica Mogherini, the EU’s diplomatic chief, said talks have been going on for several months with a number of Asian countries that were “interested in looking at the European way” …
The new strategy comes after European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker called for a more muscular EU foreign policy to match the bloc’s economic clout, taking on not just US President Donald Trump’s “America First” approach but also China’s energetic involvement in Africa and Asia.

So, there are concerns that China is loading places with debt to help finance its One Belt, One Road Initiative (also called BRI–Belt Road Initiative).
Some wonder if China is working towards global domination.
The European Union wants nations in Asia to instead consider “looking at the European way.”
Neither the Chinese nor the EU plan promote Anglo-American interests.

Gerard Postiglione, honorary professor at the University of Hong Kong, told University World News that the United States’ withdrawal from multilateral agreements, including trade pacts in Asia, has produced a vacuum at a time when China has become more outward looking with its New Silk Road project. “The question is, can China take advantage of that vacuum left by the US,” he said.
The so-called “’post-American’ world has, and will have, increasingly strong implications for Europe’s relationship in higher education with China”, Postiglione told the seminar, adding that “the gradual stepping back of the United States from the world has shifted the structure of opportunities”.
The New Silk Road initiative launched in 2013 is seen as having “game-changing” potential, with China’s financial backing ranging from US$150 billion to US$1 trillion. With 65 countries currently involved, “the scale of the New Silk Road project will be transformative,” said Simon Marginson, professor of higher education at the University of Oxford and director of the Centre for Global Higher Education at UCL Institute of Education in the United Kingdom. …
Europe cannot ignore the rise of China, which now has the second-largest research and development budget in the world after the US and the second-largest pool of researchers in the world after the EU, and it recently bypassed the US in the number of articles in the sciences, Marijk van der Wende, professor of law, economics and governance at Utrecht University, noted, referring to OECD figures.
The European Commission is “keeping a very close eye on China”, particularly in the area of innovation, Van der Wende said. The EU “realises it [the EU] has a performance lead, but that is decreasing very rapidly because China has improved seven times faster than the EU” in such performance indicators. …
So from a country that has been collaborating with and probably had an aid relationship, China may be moving towards becoming competition, Van der Wende acknowledged.
How this will play out in terms of future collaboration between Europe and China is still unclear. But Van der Wende noted the “hundreds of dialogues and workshops every year” between European and Chinese institutions and companies and an “ever deeper and broader relationship in many areas”. 10/04/18 http://www.universityworldnews.com/article.php?story=20181004184538317
The Bible tells of the final time of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24; see also The Times of the Gentiles). Part of the objective of the European Union itself and China’s One Belt, One Road initiative is to establish a new world order–an order no longer dominated by the USA and its Anglo-Saxon allies, like the UK.
As far as Australia and New Zealand go, they will be ‘swallowed up’ in a sense by one or more Gentile powers–this will happen during the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21; Daniel 8:24-25). That is when the USA will be conquered (Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses). It is likely that China will end up with all or part of Australia (watch also the video Are Chinese threats against Australia for real?) and/or New Zealand.
As far as the European Union goes, it is upset that the UK is leaving it, is upset with US President Trump, has been threatening actions against the USA for intended sanctions against Russia (see Brussels to act ‘within days’ if US sanctions hurt EU trade with Russia – internal memo) and Iran (see ‘European Firms Hit Hard By U.S. Sanctions On Iran’ and then there are the sanctions against Russia), and would like to cooperate more with the Chinese as well as the Russian-dominated Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). So, a coordination of Gentile powers against the Anglo-Americans is occurring.
Notice also the following prophecies from the Old and New Testaments:
23 ‘Make a chain,
For the land is filled with crimes of blood,
And the city is full of violence.
24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,
And they will possess their houses;
I will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,
And their holy places shall be defiled.
25 Destruction comes;
They will seek peace, but there shall be none. (Ezekiel 7:23-25)23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:23-24)
2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. (Revelation 11:2)
Notice that Ezekiel, Jesus (whose words are recorded in Luke), and John (who penned Revelation) were talking about the same time.
The time of Gentile domination is prophesied (Ezekiel 7:24, 30:1-3, 34:25-30; Jeremiah 10:25; Luke 21:23-24; Revelation 11:2)–though it is not quite here yet. It will be here for the 3 1/2 years of the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin? 2018, 2019, or 2020?).
When will it end?
The old Worldwide Church of God taught:
With the second coming of Christ, the “times of the Gentiles” will at last come to an end. (Stump K. The Arab World in Prophecy. Plain Truth, December 1979, p. 38)
The Great Tribulation itself is further described in Revelation 6:9-11 (the fifth seal, that seems to occur because the faithful church has suffered martyrdom, cf. Daniel 11:31-35; Matthew 24:9-10), Lamentations, Daniel, and other parts of the Bible. It starts with Matthew 24:21 and Daniel 11:39. Some would call this World War III (WWIII; see also World War III: Steps in Progress and/or watch Is World War III About to Begin? Can You Escape?).
As regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God news page are aware, I have speculated that China may be paving the roads to Armageddon (watch also Is China paving roads to Armageddon?). Although the finished BRI road does not really do that, it would tend to increase trade with Europe and may have military ramifications as well.
As far as Armageddon goes, the term Armageddon is only used once in the Bible. It is the sixth of seven bowls of God’s wrath:
1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.” (Revelation 16:1)
12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-16)
For them to gather, they must cross over land to get to Armageddon. The Silk Road project will make that easier.
The kings of the east reference refers to Asian nations, including Russia, whose border extends to the farthest parts of the east–and China which is commonly believed to be part of the ‘far east’ end of the Earth:
50:41 “Behold, a people shall come from the north,
And a great nation and many kings
Shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.
42 They shall hold the bow and the lance;
They are cruel and shall not show mercy.
Their voice shall roar like the sea;
They shall ride on horses,
Set in array, like a man for the battle,
Against you, O daughter of Babylon.43 “The king of Babylon has heard the report about them,
And his hands grow feeble;
Anguish has taken hold of him,
Pangs as of a woman in childbirth…”(Jeremiah 50:41-43).
Russia is in the north and is in the northern and eastern ends of the earth. Looking at the maps at the beginning of this post, you will see other nations that border Russia, like China. China is a far country from Europe–but now connected by a major new road.
Notice also that the Bible shows Babylon tied together with birth pains/pangs to a group from a far country:
1 The burden against Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.
2 “Lift up a banner on the high mountain, Raise your voice to them; Wave your hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have also called My mighty ones for My anger–Those who rejoice in My exaltation.” 4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, Like that of many people! A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The LORD of hosts musters The army for battle. 5 They come from a far country, From the end of heaven–The LORD and His weapons of indignation, To destroy the whole land. 6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore all hands will be limp, Every man’s heart will melt, 8 And they will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a woman in childbirth; They will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be like flames (Isaiah 13:1-8).
Thus, both the accounts in Jeremiah and Isaiah seem related to the same invaders. This is referring to an end time confederation that has a distance to travel–apparently a type of union of powers from the east.
Furthermore, a “far country” also seems to be tied to the powers of the east elsewhere in Isaiah:
11 Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it. (Isaiah 46:11)
We are seeing steps for such a confederation beginning to come to pass.
For the final time of the Gentiles to arise, the Gentiles will need to cooperate together against the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies. The BRICS, EAEU, SCO, and Silk Road arrangements are all intended to do that–as is the European Union–and the nations involved with them are all taking steps which align with properly understood biblical prophecies. A block of nations from North Africa and the Middle East will also be involved (cf. Daniel 11:27, 40-43)–this is something that US President Donald Trump and others have encouraged (see How Will Middle East Peace be Brought About?).
Yet, most in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand do not understand what is now happening on the world scene and how they will be affected.
In the American television news, how often have you seen the Silk Road project or the EAEU mentioned? What about the EU’s alternative plan to China’s Silk Road?
Perhaps not at all.
The focus of the media is obscuring what is really happening in the world.
We are getting closer to the end of Anglo-American dominance as well as Armageddon.
Steps continue to be taken that are leading to it.
