Supertanker attacks and US dollar ‘attacks’

Tankers targeted near Strait of Hormuz amid Iran-US tensions

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Two oil tankers near the strategic Strait of Hormuz were damaged in suspected attacks on Thursday, leaving one ablaze and the other adrift and forcing sailors to evacuate in the latest mysterious incident involving tankers amid heightened tensions between the U.S and Iran.
The U.S. Navy, which rushed in to assist the stricken vessels, and the ship’s owners offered no immediate explanation on what weapon caused the damage to the MT Front Altair and the Kokuka Courageous in the Gulf of Oman off the coast of Iran, though all believed the ships had been targeted in an attack. Dubai, United Arab Emirates — Two tankers were attacked Thursday near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, leaving one ablaze and adrift as sailors were evacuated from both. It was the second time in a month that tankers have been seriously damaged in the region, and again U.S. officials were quick to point the finger of blame at Iran.
A U.S. defense official told CBS News senior national security correspondent David Martin it was “highly likely Iran caused these attacks” on Thursday. The official dismissed an Iranian claim to have rescued the crews of both vessels in the Gulf of Oman as “patently false.” He said the USS Bainbridge picked up 21 crew members.

It would seem to be illogical for Iran to authorize (or cause) these tanker attacks since it wants the European Union to help it reduce the problems caused by US sanctions.

A European payment system set up to circumvent US sanctions on Iran will be ready soon, according to German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
This is yet another move in a global effort to minimize dependence on the US dollar.
According to an Al Jazeera report, Maas recently met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran in an effort to salvage the nuclear arms deal negotiated in 2015. Pres. Trump withdrew the US from the agreement last year.
The new payment system called INSTEX (Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges) will allow France, Britain and Germany, along with other EU nations, to continue trade with Iran outside of the dollar-based SWIFT payment system. When EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini announced the plan, she said the new payment channel would allow companies to preserve oil and other business deals with Iran despite US sanctions. …
The Russians have already developed an alternative payment system that has reportedly surpassed SWIFT in popularity within that country. ..
Weaponizing the Dollar
The United States has taken advantage of the fact that the dollar serves as the world reserve currency by using it as leverage to achieve its foreign policy goals.
In effect, the US has weaponized the dollar.

In a speech at the International Economic Forum, in St. Petersburg, Russia, “Russian Davos”, President Putin reaffirmed his position regarding the Federal Reserve Note and it’s international role. For the record, we see the abuse of the Federal Reserve and the Federal Reserve Note, U.S. dollar, in similar light as President Putin. The current status of “world reserve currency” should not be allowed in this day and time. The absolute abuse of power, excessive power granted and the ability to shackle entire nations through the use of a currency that is not even their own should have never been allowed but it is way past time for this system to be dissolved.
In a speech at a plenary session, Mr Putin accused Washington of seeking to “extend its jurisdiction to the whole world.”

As recently we pointed out Russia has been and is, apparently readying, a gold backed cryptocurrency to use as global trade settlement. So, we have seen various ones ‘attacking ‘ the US dollar. Or, perhaps more accurately, looking how to circumvent the use of the US dollar as an economic weapon. Ultimately, as more nations look to bypass the US dollar, its fall as the world’s primary reserve currency gets closer (see also The End of US Dollar Dominance).
Getting back to the tanker attacks, Bloomberg had some interesting comments:

Two oil tankers have been damaged in a suspected attack in the waters between the United Arab Emirates and Iran as they were leaving the Persian Gulf. This is the second incident in four weeks, and raises the question of who gains what from them.
Fingers will certainly be pointed at Iran as the mastermind behind these events. But the potential benefits to the Persian Gulf nation are outweighed by the risks. And even if Tehran isn’t responsible, it will still suffer the consequences. …
Who gains from these attacks?
The obvious answer is Iran. If Tehran is attacking tankers leaving the Persian Gulf – either directly, or through proxies – it sends a message that transit through the world’s most important choke point for global oil flows is not safe without its consent. If Iran is pushed to the brink economically by sanctions, it will not go quietly. …
There is another group that will benefit from the incident – the people who want to see the U.S. step up its campaign against Iran and move from an economic war to a military one. There are plenty of those, both in the U.S. and among its allies in the Persian Gulf and wider Middle East regions.
The timing of the attacks also raises questions.
They come as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is visiting Tehran, with the blessing of President Trump. …
A day earlier, Iran freed a U.S. resident imprisoned on espionage charges.
This would seem very clumsy timing from a country seeing the first tangible signs of any easing of the crippling sanctions imposed by the Americans. But it is absolutely understandable if you’re someone whose ultimate goal is to derail any easing of tensions between the two nations, and to effect regime change in Tehran. Irrespective of who caused the attacks, one day, Iran looks to be prophesied to lead a major military attack against Israel (cf. Isaiah 22; see also Iran in Prophecy)–and it could negatively impact the USA.
However Iran will, ultimately not do well.
Consider the following prophecy:
34 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, 35 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam,
The foremost of their might.
36 Against Elam I will bring the four winds

And before those who seek their life.

Until I have consumed them.
38 I will set My throne in Elam,

Iran needs to be cautious as biblical prophecies suggest it will be involved in militaristic ventures, and ultimately that will not end well for Iran.
Whoever committed the terroristic attacks against the oil tankers should repent.
Violence and destruction like that will not bring real peace.
We need the Kingdom of God.
