President Barack Obama said Britain would be at “the back of the queue” to negotiate a trade agreement with the U.S. if it votes to leave the European Union, in a direct assault on the arguments of those who say the U.K. could win better deals outside the bloc.
“Some of the folks on the other side have been ascribing to the United States certain actions we will take if the U.K. does leave the EU,” Obama said at a joint press conference in London Friday with Prime Minister David Cameron. “For example, that, well, we’ll just cut our own trade deals” with the U.S. “Maybe at some point down the line there might be a U.K.-US trade agreement, but it’s not going to happen anytime soon.”

Here is something I wrote on April 22, 2016 about Barack Obama’s position regarding trade with the UK:
Despite what Barack Obama is urging, if the UK does vote to leave it will likely draw the UK closer to, and not farther from, its ‘blood brother,’ the USA. (Thiel B. And the next day, April 23, 2016, I added:
Should Britain vote to exit (Brexit) the EU on June 23, 2016, it is not likely that the major US presidential candidates will publicly state that the UK will be in the back of the line for trade talks. It is more likely that they will want to make a deal with the UK as that would likely be a lot easier than making one with the entire EU. (Thiel B. Donald Trump has said leaving the EU would not put Britain at the back of the queue to secure a US trade deal under his presidency – a move applauded by the Ukip leader, Nigel Farage, who admitted he had reservations about backing the controversial Republican.
Referring to Barack Obama’s warning to Britain over the EU referendum, Trump, who is on track to secure the Republican nomination, said: “I think if I were from Britain I would probably want to go back to a different system.”
Questioned about Britain’s place in any queue under a Trump presidency in an interview with Piers Morgan, to be broadcast on ITV on Monday, he said: “I don’t want to say front or anything else.

The UK is “first in line” for a trade deal with the US, President Trump’s national security adviser has said.
John Bolton said the US supported a no-deal Brexit and added Washington would propose an accelerated series of trade deals.
Mr Bolton claimed deals could be done on a “sector-by-sector” basis, with an agreement on manufacturing made first. …
According to Mr Bolton, a bilateral agreement or “series of agreements” could be carved out “very quickly, very straight-forwardly”. …
Mr Bolton said “doing it in pieces” was not unprecedented and the US understood the importance of doing as much as possible as rapidly as possible before the 31 October exit date. …
Asked whether his proposed plan would follow World Trade Organisation rules, Mr Bolton said “our trade negotiators seem to think it is”.

The United States and the United Kingdom will be looking for a quick, piece by piece, trade deal when Britain leaves the European Union.
“I think here we see the importance and urgency of doing as much as we can agree on as rapidly as possible,” said John Bolton, the US national security adviser, on Monday. “We wish we could have moved further along in this with the prior government,” he added, in a thinly veiled criticism of former Prime Minister Theresa May.

The Trump Administration would love to point to positive trade deals for many reasons, including showing that all of its approaches to trade are not confrontational.
Back in 2008, based on various prophecies in Revelation and Daniel, I wrote that the British would decide to move closer towards the USA and farther away from the Europeans on trade (Thiel B. A Combined EU & North American Trade Block Coming? COGwriter.com, March 3, 2008) and we are seeing this. We are also seeing the US move closer towards the British and farther away from the EU on trade.
