The government of Australia is splitting from at least part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), also known as the New Silk Road project:

Australia has canceled infrastructure projects that were meant to boost trade with Beijing. …
The Australian government may have only halted a couple of small joint-infrastructure projects with China, but the response from Beijing to the decision was one of rage and threats. The Chinese embassy in Canberra called the halt “unreasonable and provocative” and vowed revenge.
Canberra stepped in last year to pass a law that allows the federal government to overrule agreements made by Australian states with foreign countries. The decision followed deals signed by the state of Victoria in 2018 and 2019 to cooperate with China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) — often dubbed the New Silk Road — a massive infrastructure plan that aims to smooth trade links with dozens of countries.
Foreign Minister Marise Payne said the deals were incompatible with Australia’s foreign policy and were not legally binding. The cancellation could also mean an end to further Sino-Australian cooperation in the fields of industrial production, biotechnology and agriculture.
Loss of face for China
Heribert Dieter, from the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), thinks that the cancellation is an “extremely difficult loss of face” for China. He said Australia’s relations with Beijing had “been bad for two or three years and are getting worse.”
China has imposed tariffs on Australian exports after Canberra’s criticism of Beijing’s more aggressive foreign policy. The Australian government has led calls for a full investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic and was the first Western country to ban Huawei from its 5G network. https://www.dw.com/en/cracks-appear-in-chinas-new-silk-road/a-57388521
China has made threats against Australia in the past. In my view, one day it is likely that China will end up with some or all of Australia.
As far as the BRI goes, the USA and Australia have long been concerned about that. Here is a link to something from last December: USA and Australia have concerns over China’s ‘Belt and Road Initiative,’ but the new ‘Silk Road’ has prophetic ramifications.
More recently in his March 25th news conference, US President Biden brought up competing with China’s BRI program as did Jacob Lew in April:
On March 25, President Joe Biden held his first presidential press conference since taking office. He said that China would never be allowed to surpass the US as the most powerful country in the world during his term of office. He also emphasised that the US would increase investments in domestic infrastructure and key areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing and biotechnology, to ensure that the US stays ahead in the competition with China.
At the same time, to strengthen its competitive advantage against China, the Biden administration intends to enhance cooperation with allies and partners, especially Japan, Australia, Canada, the UK and the EU. Mr Biden seeks to unite US allies to contain China, and this is an indirect admission that the US alone is unable to counter the rise of China, particularly in East Asia.
For the US to seriously compete with China, infrastructure development will be an important area. In a recent telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Mr Biden has proposed that the US and the UK should have an initiative similar to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), bringing together democratic nations to help developing nations upgrade their infrastructure.
The BRI is the hallmark of China’s emergence. Through this platform, China is rapidly extending its economic influence in Asia and other parts of the world. China’s effective domestic control of Covid-19 has enhanced its leaders’ confidence and the ambition to continue to promote and implement the BRI internationally. …
The details of Mr Biden’s new initiative to rival the BRI remain unclear. Yes, there are concerns in the USA and Australia. Yet, understand that Chinese investments in its Belt and Road Initiative can be helpful to many nations around the world.
Australia was to have one or more ports considered part of the BRI project.
As far as trade issues go, notice something I wrote and posted back in 2008:
trade … Negotiations will continue and some type of loose agreements will happen. …
However, over time, it will become increasingly clear that the British will be in more agreement with the Canadians and Americans and that the European Union in more agreement with the Mexicans than the EU will have with the English-speaking nations.
Trade wars and/or serious trade disputes will most likely arise.
The Brits will ultimately decide that they are more supportive of the Americans and Canadians. They will be so much more supportive that they will end up in a trading agreement with them (with the Australians and New Zealanders probably also becoming part of that agreement). (Thiel B. We see that since that came out, the UK left the EU and Australia has taken steps to back away from China.
But there still are BRI issues of prophetic significance.
Now notice another BRI related map:
Notice that China intends to connect much of Asia to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa–through actual roads and naval port projects.
China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) will provide infrastructure in many parts of the world.
While BRI will face more obstacles, China’s Silk Road project looks to be supportive of some biblical prophecies. Thus, the whatever the USA and/or Australia do will not stop certain prophecies from being fulfilled.
Understand that some of the BRI infrastructure will be accessible to troops that could be to be used to get to them closer to Armageddon. Notice the following prophecy:
12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-16)

NBC reports that China intends to spend one trillion dollars to build roads, bridges, railroads, and maritime facilities to reach from China to Europe and China to the Middle East. Over 60 nations, including Russia, are involved with this. Could this Silk Road project possibly produce thoroughfares that could be used by troops that will amass at Armageddon? While it is true that the Silk Road project increases China’s economic and political influence, consider also the reality that most roads go both ways. And that certainly will be the case for those involved in this project.
Since the Bible teaches that it will be Europe that will dominate world trade, Italy’s, Greece’s, and Portugal’s agreed-to involvement in the BRI looks to be a way that Europe will get access to markets in Asia and Africa. Europe has a long history of trading with Asia and is prophesied to continue to do so.
Consider that the Bible teaches the following about an end time European power:
2 … Babylon … 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury. (Revelation 18:2,3)
The above is referring to the fact that nations of the world are prophesied to get wealthy trading with end time Babylon, which will be a European entity.
Back in 1971, the old Worldwide Church of God (WCG) published the following:
Momentous, historic events are transforming Western Europe. But most Americans are “asleep at the switch” to what is happening. It’s time for a self-centered America to wake up – before her allies become her enemies. Envision the startling future of Western Europe. A … union of perhaps 250 million people, surpassing both the United States and the Soviet Union in economic strength, possessing for the first time worldwide political power and influence. One news source recently called it an “enormous, physically powerful beast.” A new Western Europe controlling perhaps half of all world trade, by exclusive arrangements with dozens of nations who produce raw materials. A “United States of Europe” possessing one single currency – a currency so strong that it will replace the U. S. dollar as the kingpin currency of world trade. (Hogberg G. Now we all know that Europe has its own currency–a currency that some see as the logical replacement for the US dollar for world trade. Now, let me add that less than a decade after the above was published, the WCG publicly announced at the Feast of Tabernacles in the Fall of 1979 in Tuscon Arizona (I was there) that Eastern Europe would also be part of this European power. And within a decade of that, Eastern European nations began to officially join in with what has become the European Union. And, in population, the European Union is actually larger than that of the USA.
The prophecies in Revelation 18 about the trading Babylonian power will come to pass.

With the BRI, Europe is getting more of the connectivity that it wants. The USA and Australia will not stop prophecies from being fulfilled.

Despite problems, there will be increased connectivity between Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Even though this is a massive project, relatively few in the USA are even aware of the BRI project, or Europe’s interest in connectivity.
Properly understood biblical prophecies are coming to pass.
