US voters push back against some ‘progressive’ matters

There were elections in a few US States yesterday. Here are some reports related to the results:

First Thing: Republican wins Virginia governor’s race in blow to Biden

Joe Biden suffered a bitter political blow early on Wednesday as the Democrats suffered a shock defeat in the election for governor of Virginia.

The Democratic candidate, Terry McAuliffe, had campaigned with Biden and Barack Obama but it was not enough to prevent the Republican Glenn Youngkin pulling off an upset. …

Education was one of the key campaign issues with Youngkin accused of stoking culture wars. …

“It’s A Blood Bath” …Voters Punish Democrats For Leftward Shift

If the off-year election of 2021 truly was a proxy for the public’s feelings toward President Biden and the Democrats, then the Dems have officially been warned: their shallow electoral mandate is already collapsing – and the midterms are still a year off. Because the Dems had a worse Tuesday night than the Houston Astros, a sign that voters are pushing back against the party’s increasingly leftward drift.

Not only did Republican political newcomer Glenn Youngkin wax former Democratic Gov. (and Clinton pal) Terry McAuliffe in Virginia, but in New Jersey, what was supposed to be an easy re-election victory for Gov. (and former Goldman Sachs employee) Phil Murphy has turned into a political dogfight, with neither Murphy nor his GOP rival Jack Ciattarelli able to claim victory after a long night of ballot-counting. Both spoke to supporters in post-midnight speeches, but the mood of deflation felt by the Democrats was difficult to ignore. …

Circling back to Virginia for a moment, not only did voters reject McAuliffe and back GOP Youngkin, they also backed Republican Winsome Sears, a black woman and immigrant from Jamaica and former Marine, to be the state’s next Lieutenant Governor. …

So, what’s the takeaway from all of this? Well, clearly, voters are uncomfortable with the Democrats’ courting of the progressive left, especially when it comes to issues like whether CRT should be taught in schools. …

First-time Virginia voters on why they backed Youngkin: ‘Supporting police is a big thing for me’

Young voters rally behind Virginia’s governor-elect Glenn Youngkin, being the first Republican to hold the office in over ten years, for his stance on various issues, including education, tax reform, and police funding.

College students Emma Davis, Eric Potter, and Spencer Hudson joined “Fox & Friends First” on Wednesday to discuss what issues matter to them and why they cast their ballot for Youngkin.

“So I like that he has this plan about keeping politics out of education and focusing on what the parents want to do,” Potter explained.

Minneapolis Voters Reject Democrat Proposal To Replace Police Department

Minneapolis progressives were handed a defeat Tuesday night after voters rejected a proposal to replace the city’s police department with a Department of Public Safety, … The proposed change would have fought crime with “a comprehensive public health approach to the delivery of functions by the Department of Public Safety,” the specifics of which would have been in the hands of the mayor and City Council. https://www.zerohedge.com/political/minneapolis-voters-reject-democrat-proposal-replace-police-department

Overall, many Republicans and those who oppose the push for the ‘progressives’ agenda’ are pleased with the results of yesterday’s election.

But slowing down some of the ‘left’s agenda’ will not save the USA.

Without national repentance the USA is doomed–and relatively soon.

Repentance is one of the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith (see also Elementary Doctrines of the Church: Hebrews 6 and/or watch the related sermon Basic Doctrines of Hebrew 6).

In speaking of God’s people Ephraim–whom He’s going to punish for their lack of repentance, God says:

“And they have not cried unto me WITH THEIR HEART, when they howled upon their beds: … they rebel against me. Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me. They return, BUT NOT TO THE MOST HIGH” (Hosea 7:14-16).

Without national repentance, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are doomed.

The Anglo-nations need national repentance. God would listen:

13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. (2 Chronicles 7:13-15)

But because they will not, they will have problems. God’s anger is arroused against the USA (Samaria, below; see also Spiritual Samaritans: Old and New) because it rebels against God and will not turn towards innocence::

5 O Samaria!
My anger is aroused against them —
How long until they attain to innocence? (Hosea 8:5)

16 Samaria is held guilty, for she has rebelled against her God. They shall fall by the sword, Their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child ripped open. (Hosea 13:16)

Notice that lack of repentance is listed as a reason that the King of Assyria (the final King of the North) will become Ephraim’s king:

3 I taught Ephraim to walk…5…But the Assyrian shall be his king, Because they refused to repent. 6 And the sword shall slash in his cities, Devour his districts, And consume them, Because of their own counsels. 7 My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him. (Hosea 11:3a, 5b-7)

The prophesied shame is starting to come upon the Anglo-American powers. The Assyrian king is also prophesied to eliminate the USA per Isaiah 10:5-12.

Without repentance, increased pride is occurring, and this will be followed by the prophesied destruction of the Anglo-American nations. And yes, other nations have their sins, but they will be punished later–But you personally can and SHOULD repent.

Individually, and nationally, repentance is needed:

20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

21 “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. 23 Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live? (Ezekiel 18:20-23)

30 “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord God. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!” (Ezekiel 18:30-32)

Your Bible says many people have made an OUTWARD show of returning to Him or repenting, but they haven’t done it WITH THEIR HEARTS!

Despite what many on the ‘right’ hope, the reality is that the ‘progressives’ have mainly ‘won’ the culture war related to pushing many aspects of the LGBTQ agenda.

That agenda ends in death according to the Bible (cf. Romans 1:18-32).

Yesterday’s election results will not change that.

Most on the left and on the right put their hope in elections.

Christians, however, need to put their hope in Jesus and the establishment of the soon coming Kingdom of God.
