Dec 12 (Reuters) – Russia faces massive consequences and severe costs if President Vladimir Putin attacks Ukraine, the Group of Seven warned in a statement on Sunday.
U.S. intelligence assesses that Russia could be planning a multi-front offensive on Ukraine as early as next year, involving up to 175,000 troops.
The Kremlin denies it plans to invade and says the West is gripped by Russophobia. Moscow says the expansion of NATO threatens Russia and has contravened assurances given to it as the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. …
“Russia should be in no doubt that further military aggression against Ukraine would have massive consequences and severe cost in response,” said the statement, which confirmed a draft version previously reported by Reuters.
“We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the right of any sovereign state to determine its own future.”
A statement released by the Russian Embassy in London on Saturday evening, before the joint G7 document was reported, … “Russia has made numerous offers to NATO on ways to decrease tensions. The G7 forum could be an opportunity to discuss them, but so far we hear nothing but aggressive slogans,” the embassy statement said.
‘RED LINE’
For Moscow, the growing NATO embrace of a neighbouring former Soviet republic – and what it sees as the nightmare possibility of alliance missiles in Ukraine targeted against Russia – is a “red line” it will not allow to be crossed. …

Russia likely will not massively invade Ukraine at this time. Should it do so, it would imperil its Nord Stream 2 project, which it wants to go live to deliver oil to Germany without having to use its pipeline that goes through Ukraine.
That being said, changes are going to occur in the relationship between Ukraine and Russia (see also Russia and Ukraine: Their Origins and Prophesied Future).
There will also be changes in the G7. Ultimately The UK, USA, and Canada will be taken over by a coming European beast power that will include Germany, France, and others in what is now called the European Union.
For well over a decade, it has been my position that Russia would ultimately assist the Europeans against the USA and its British-descended allies.
Years after I came to that conclusion, I noticed a similar view that was published by the old Radio Church of God in 1962:
United within the ancient boundaries of the Holy Roman Empire; united by the common spiritual bond of universal Catholicism; united in a burgeoning and booming industrial economy that dominates today’s world; united geographically in the most productive and industrial complex of all the earth — at least TEN NATIONS OF MODERN EUROPE WILL MARCH ONTO THE SCENE OF WORLD HISTORY AS THE GREATEST SINGLE HUMAN FORCE EVER SEEN BY MAN! Europe may, for a time, continue to go along with the USA. But that will change.
Consistent with prophecies such as found in Daniel 11:39, about the power with the strongest military getting taken over and having its land divided, I expect Russia to end up with at least some land currently part of the USA and Canada (see also Will the Anglo-Saxon-Celtic Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?).
