Truckers protesting because of COVID policies and ‘political unrest’ in Canada

OTTAWA (Reuters) – Canada’s capital city of Ottawa is set on Saturday for a “massive” protest against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates with the arrival of convoys of hundreds of vehicles from across the country.

The so-called “Freedom Convoy” – coming from east and west – started out as a protest against a vaccine requirement for cross-border truckers, but has turned into a demonstration against government overreach during the pandemic with a strong anti-vax streak.

The convoys are scheduled to get in around noon, but already on Friday dozens of vehicles blocked the roads in front of parliament. A total of some 2,700 trucks are expected, a federal government source said.

Trudeau on Friday said he was concerned about the protest turning violent in an interview with the Canadian Press, and said this week the convoy represented a “small fringe minority” who “do not represent the views of Canadians.” https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-canada-trucking-idUSKBN2K308U

Nova Scotia Targets The Freedom Convoy Supporters

Nova Scotia has made it illegal to gather alongside the interprovincial highway in support of the Truckers for Freedom Convoy.

OTTAWA, Ontario (TND) — A convoy of trucks crossing Canada, protesting vaccine mandates for truckers, could be a world-record setter, but there are doubts about the actual size of the convoy.

The “Freedom Convoy” was reportedly organized to protest against the vaccine mandates put in place at the U.S.-Canada border, as well as mask mandates for truckers, which orders the drivers to wear masks in trucks.

Beacon Of Hope

Thousands of Canadians have braved the cold along the route. Supporters have lined the route, cheered from overpasses, and offered to feed drivers in their homes and restaurants.

On January 26, speaking at a press conference, embattled Candian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the millions supporting the freedom convoy organized by everyday truckers a “fringe minority,” adding that only by complying with the government can citizens regain their rights and freedoms.

Shocked and visibly shaken by the enormous number of freedom-loving Canadians coming to Ottawa to demand he stops his directorial measures, Trudeau stated,

“The small, fringe minority of people are on their way to Ottawa, who are holding unacceptable views that they’re expressing, do not represent the views of Canadians who have been there for each other, who know that following the science, and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to continue to ensure our freedoms, our rights, our values, as a country,” …

This ‘Freedom Convoy’ and Prime Minister Trudeau’s comments about it suggest that there is growing division in Canada.

COVID policies around the world have been protested as many see them as totalitarian governmental overreach.

Claudia Winterhalter lived in West Germany when the country was divided, and says she saw the impact of totalitarianism on East Germany. Growing up, she watched her dad work as a bus driver and wanted to follow in his footsteps. To qualify for driving a bus, you first have to drive a truck in Germany, she said, so she began her career in trucking in 1996. After she married a Canadian truck driver, she continued her career in Canada. The 54-year-old from Orangeville, Ont., has not been vaccinated, but is not against the vaccine. Most of her family and children have gotten it. She believes it is a personal choice. She says much of what is happening reminds her of what she grew up witnessing, with food shortages, political unrest and government overreach. The above report mentioned totalitarianism and political unrest. That causes division.

Jesus taught:

25 Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. (Matthew 12:25)

We are seeing more divide in Canada

This will not end well for Canada (cf. Daniel 8:24-25, 11:39).

Notice also something that Isaiah was inspired to record:

4 Alas, sinful nation,
A people laden with iniquity,
A brood of evildoers,
Children who are corrupters!
They have forsaken the Lord,
They have provoked to anger
The Holy One of Israel,
They have turned away backward.

5 Why should you be stricken again?
You will revolt more and more.
The whole head is sick,
And the whole heart faints.
6 From the sole of the foot even to the head,
There is no soundness in it,
But wounds and bruises and putrefying sores;
They have not been closed or bound up,
Or soothed with ointment.

7 Your country is desolate,
Your cities are burned with fire;
Strangers devour your land in your presence;
And it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers. (Isaiah 1:4-7)

Truly, Canada is a sinful nation with a people laden with iniquity.

As far as the future safety of areas of Canada go, consider the following prophecies:

5 They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, Because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation. … 25 The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:5,25)

12 “Cry and wail, son of man; For it will be against My people, Against all the princes of Israel. Terrors including the sword will be against My people; … (Ezekiel 21:12)

5 Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way (Ecclesiastes 12:5).

6 You have forsaken Me,” says the Lord,
“You have gone backward.
Therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you;
I am weary of relenting!
7 And I will winnow them with a winnowing fan in the gates of the land;
I will bereave them of children;
I will destroy My people,
Since they do not return from their ways.
8 Their widows will be increased to Me more than the sand of the seas;
I will bring against them,
Against the mother of the young men,
A plunderer at noonday;
I will cause anguish and terror to fall on them suddenly. (Jeremiah 15:6-8)

Irrespective of what happens with the truckers’ protest and the Canadian government’s response, Canada will be hit with terror and unrest.

Like the USA, Canada may very well be gone by 2028 (see also Might the U.S.A. Be Gone by 2028?).

Canada’s only hope is not protests or its government.

Canada needs national repentance and the coming Kingdom of God.
