Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza and some of the Lebanese have become violent again:
Israel strikes Lebanon, Gaza after rocket attack
April 7, 2023
Israel launched strikes in southern Lebanon early on Friday morning while continuing to hit targets in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military said.
The strikes came after militants from Lebanon fired nearly three dozen rockets at Israel on Thursday.
Additionally, rockets were fired from Gaza toward southern Israel early Friday morning, following the Israeli attacks there.
Clashes have been escalating this week, after Israeli police raids at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem. …
The Israeli military on Friday said the strikes targeted installations belonging to the militant group Hamas in the south of Lebanon. Local media reported blasts in the Lebanese port city of Tyre.
The US, EU, Japan and several other nations have classified Hamas as a terrorist organization. …
In response to the strikes, Hamas said they “strongly” condemned “aggression against Lebanon in the vicinity of Tyre at dawn today.” https://www.dw.com/en/israel-strikes-lebanon-and-gaza-strip-after-rocket-attack/a-65255787

Israel’s military hit sites in Lebanon and Gaza early on Friday, in retaliation for rocket attacks it blamed on the Islamist group Hamas, as tensions following police raids this week on the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem threatened to spiral out of control.
Loud blasts rocked different areas of Gaza, as Israel said its jets hit 10 targets including tunnels and weapons manufacturing and development sites of Hamas, which controls the blockaded southern coastal strip. …
The crossborder strikes came amid an escalating confrontation over Israeli police raids at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which this year coincides with the Jewish Passover holiday.
“We hold the Zionist occupation fully responsible for the grave escalation and the flagrant aggression against the Gaza Strip and for the consequences that will bring onto the region,” Hamas said in a statement.
Although Israel blamed Hamas for Thursday’s attack, which took place as Hamas head Ismail Haniyeh was visiting Lebanon, security experts said Hezbollah, the powerful Shi’ite group which helps Israel’s main enemy Iran project its power across the region, must have given its permission.
“It’s not Hezbollah shooting, but it’s hard to believe that Hezbollah didn’t know about it,” Tamir Hayman, a former head of Israeli military intelligence, said on Twitter.
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued a statement condemning any military operations from its territory that threatened stability but there was no immediate comment from Hezbollah. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/04/07/israeli-strikes-target-hamas-in-lebanon-and-gaza-after-rocket-attack.html
The Palestinians are mad and do not like Jewish activities on the area known as the Temple Mount. And more troubles are expected.
The reality is that the Palestinians have been outraged by the demolition of homes and Israeli positions on Jerusalem and other territories.
Notice something from one of Hamas’ official founding documents:
THE COVENANT OF THE HAMAS – MAIN POINTS . . .
Goals of the HAMAS:
——————
‘The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine.’ (Article 6)On the Destruction of Israel:
—————————–
‘Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.’ (Preamble)
Hamas wants Israel gone, but that does not mean that it will not be open to some type of timed withdrawal.
Israel has a certain confidence in its military prowess.
Yet, one day, the nation of Israel will lose territory (for details, see the prophecies in the article Gaza and the Palestinians in Bible Prophecy).
The entire 47th chapter of Jeremiah is a prophecy involving the Philistines, including Gaza–notice also that Ashekelon is mentioned:
1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before Pharaoh attacked Gaza.
2 Thus says the Lord: “Behold, waters rise out of the north, And shall be an overflowing flood; They shall overflow the land and all that is in it, The city and those who dwell within; Then the men shall cry, And all the inhabitants of the land shall wail. 3 At the noise of the stamping hooves of his strong horses, At the rushing of his chariots, At the rumbling of his wheels, The fathers will not look back for their children, Lacking courage, 4 Because of the day that comes to plunder all the Philistines, To cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains; For the Lord shall plunder the Philistines, The remnant of the country of Caphtor. 5 Baldness has come upon Gaza, Ashkelon is cut off With the remnant of their valley. How long will you cut yourself? 6 “O you sword of the Lord, How long until you are quiet? Put yourself up into your scabbard, Rest and be still! 7 How can it be quiet, Seeing the Lord has given it a charge Against Ashkelon and against the seashore? There He has appointed it.” (Jeremiah 47:1-7)
Problems were thus prophesied for the Palestinians including those of Gaza–since there is a duality to some prophecies (e.g. Malachi 4:5 & Matthew 17:10-13), this looks to have future application. It should be noted that Ashkelon is currently part of Israel, Hamas recently targeted it, and the Palestinians will either control it again or be so numerous in it that they are affected.
Ultimately in this age, the nation of Israel will lose territory to the Palestinians.
Despite conflicts, the time will come when there will be a temporary ‘peace deal’ (see the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).
While the Palestinian Authority and Hamas both opposed Donald Trump’s Deal of the Century, the Palestinians have tended to feel (correctly) that Europe would need to be involved in some type of peace deal.
Biblical prophecy shows that a European leader will also be involved in confirming the coming prophesied deal of Daniel 9:26-27, which states:
26 And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).
The “prince” is a European leader who is later called the King of the North in Daniel 11:40. The ‘one week’ has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal, that is broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years). This break is also confirmed in the following scripture:
31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. (Daniel 11:31)
The “him” is the King of the North. And the above is consistent with breaking the deal in the middle of the week as Daniel 9:27 points out will happen.
Why is Daniel 9:27 believed to be a type of ‘peace deal’?
Well, notice some other scriptures that discuss this leader who will confirm the deal as a prince, but later be the King of the North in Daniel 11 (he is also called the Beast from the sea in Revelation 13:1-10):
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25, KJV).
23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24, NKJV)
So this European leader gives people the impression that there will be “peace” and is involved in some type of deal. This is the same leader that confirms the covenant in Daniel 9:27. The term translated as “peace” in Daniel 8:25 is from the Hebrew term shalvah and essentially means security. In other words, this leader will destroy “many” who are under the impression that they are secure because of some type of security and/or trade arrangement. Such arrangements are now commonly referred to as peace deals or treaties. Land swaps or changes to territories are likely.
Since the prophesied deal has not been confirmed, at least not publicly, the Great Tribulation would seem to be at least 3 1/2 years away.
So, what does this mean for now?
Consider that Jesus warned:
7 For there will be an intifada of ethnic group against ethnic group, (Matthew 24:7, Orthodox Jewish Bible)
A couple of years ago, Hamas called for an intifada in Jerusalem that will not stop. Presumably, it is intended to stop when Hamas gets full control of Jerusalem.
While that is not expected, neither is the opposite.
Which is?
Contrary to past statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Jerusalem will NOT remain the “undivided capital of Israel.”
The situation will change.
The Palestinians will, for a time, accept a temporary peace deal according to the Bible.
Neither the current government of Israel nor the Palestinian Authority trust each other.
Neither the current government of Israel nor the Palestinian Authority want to accept the deals that have been publicly proposed.
Yet, peace deals normally happen after major conflict.
Thus it is probably safe to conclude that the acceptance by the Palestinians and the Israelis of the Daniel 9:27 deal is likely to come after more violent conflict in the Middle East–probably involving Iran (cf. Isaiah 22:6-8).
Expect violence to get worse in the future, before a temporal peace deal is somewhat accepted.
