Pope Francis has more interfaith and ecumenical meetings set up. This time in Mongolia as Vatican News reports:
August 31, 2023
The papal plane took off from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport on Thursday afternoon at 6:41 PM bound for Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. …
Already on Wednesday afternoon, Pope Francis made his customary visit to the Basilica of St. Mary Major.
He paused in prayer before the ancient icon of Maria Salus Populi Romani and entrusted his Apostolic Journey to Mongolia to the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. …
On Sunday, Pope Francis holds an ecumenical and interreligious encounter in the morning and presides over a public Mass in the afternoon. https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2023-08/pope-francis-begins-apostolic-journey-mongolia.html
Related to the plan for the trip, the Salt Lake City Tribune reports:
Vatican City • When Pope Francis travels to Mongolia this week, he will in some ways be completing a mission begun by the 13th-century Pope Innocent IV, who dispatched emissaries east to ascertain the intentions of the rapidly expanding Mongol Empire and beseech its leaders to halt the bloodshed and convert.
Those medieval exchanges between Roman pope and Mongolian khan were full of bellicose demands for submission and conversion, with each side claiming to be acting in the name of God, according to texts of the letters that survive.
But the exchanges also showed mutual respect at a time when the Catholic Church was waging Crusades and the Mongol Empire was conquering lands as far west as Hungary in what would become the largest contiguous land empire in world history.
Officially, there are only 1,450 Catholics in Mongolia and the Catholic Church has only had a sanctioned presence since 1992, after Mongolia shrugged off its Soviet-allied communist government and enshrined religious freedom in its constitution. Francis last year upped the Mongolian church’s standing when he made a cardinal out of its leader, the Italian missionary Giorgio Marengo.
“It is amazing (for the pope) to come to a country that is not known to the world for its Catholicism,” said Uugantsetseg Tungalag, a Catholic who works with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in a nursing home in the capital. “When the pope visits us, other countries will learn that it has been 30 years since Catholicism came to Mongolia.”
The Mongol Empire under its famed founder Genghis Khan was known for tolerating people of different faiths among those it conquered, and Francis will likely emphasize that tradition of religious coexistence when he presides over an interfaith meeting Sunday. … Some 800 years later, Francis won’t be testing new diplomatic waters or seeking to proselytize Mongolia’s mostly Buddhist people when he arrives in the capital Ulaanbaatar Friday for a four-day visit. …
Invited to Francis’ interfaith event are Mongolian Buddhists, Jewish, Muslim and Shinto representatives as well as members of Christian churches that have established a presence in Mongolia in the past 30 years, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which officially claims more than 12,500 members in Mongolia in 24 congregations.
In a message to Mongolians ahead of his visit, Francis emphasized their interfaith traditions and said he was traveling to the “heart of Asia” as a brother to all. https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2023/08/30/pope-include-latter-day-saints/
Contrary to the statement by the Salt Lake City Tribune that this is not a mission to proselytize, it actually is.
Pope Francis will not try to convert others to Roman Catholicism, but to his vision of an interfaith world.
The fact that he is to meet with the Mormons (Latter Day Saints group) was interesting to the Salt Lake City Tribune. Actually, because the Mormons profess a trinitarian belief (see Teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) and the Continuing Church of God), this makes them acceptable for the Vatican’s ecumenical agenda (watch Vademecum: Rome’s Trinitarian Ecumenical Handbook). One that Vatican News alluded to.
Pope Francis is a Jesuit. Notice something about them:
Interreligious dialogue has a very long history in the life of the Society of Jesus. The Jesuits are indeed different from some of their missionary confreres in that they have sometimes practiced the inculturation of Christianity in a radical way. They have also stood out for their desire to better understand the culture and religious universe of the peoples they were (certainly) trying to evangelize.
This tradition of inculturation has also been combined with a desire to break with the contemptuous and intolerant attitude of the Church of yesteryear towards non-Catholic and non-Christian religious traditions, particularly Jews, and even more so in the aftermath of the Shoah. The time of the Second Vatican Council was essential in rejecting these contemptuous and deadly attitudes. 04/04/19 https://www.jesuits.org/press-release/the-society-of-jesus-pope-francis-and-interreligious-dialogue/
This Interreligious dialogue includes not only those who profess some connection to Christianity (like the LDS) or Jews, but also to religions that the Vatican considers to be pagan.
The Vatican’s 2019 Amazon synod had some Roman Catholics wondering about their church’s view of pagan idols:
In the wake of the Oct. 6-27 Synod of Bishops on the Amazon, in fact, I would submit this proposition: “Pachamama” has become the new insider Catholic version of “Who am I to judge?” meaning a single word or phrase which, immediately upon utterance in front of another Catholic, whatever comes across their face will tell you everything you need to know about where he or she stands. …
The Pachamama is a female fertility figure, representing Mother Earth, venerated by peoples in the Andes and portions of the Amazon. In the context of the synod, it’s become the shorthand way of talking about several small figurines of a naked pregnant woman that made their initial appearance at an Oct. 4 indigenous prayer service in the Vatican gardens attended by Pope Francis, and that popped up several other times before going on display in Rome’s Church of Santa Maria in Traspontina near the Vatican.
From the beginning, they aroused intense controversy among traditionalist and conservative Catholics, who saw their presence at the Vatican – at the far end of opinion – as quasi-demonic symbols of pagan idolatry, or – somewhere closer to the middle – as expressions of an uncritical embrace of all things indigenous, without the “purification” which Pope emeritus Benedict XVI insists is the heart of Christianity’s interaction with cultures. https://cruxnow.com/amazon-synod/2019/10/29/pachamama-has-become-the-new-catholic-insider-who-am-i-to-judge/
It should be obvious that the Black Madonna and Pachamama statues both represent mother fertility goddess worship. Pope Francis may be subtly (or really not so subtly because of the timing) trying to point out that female fertility symbols are something that the Church of Rome has embraced, so “get over” problems with the Pachamama controversy.
Related to the Amazon synod and the Pope’s agenda, the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) put out the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:
Vatican’s Babylonian Amazonian Religion
In front of Pope Francis, on October 4, 2019, the Vatican hosted an Amazonian tree-planting ceremony in where people bowed down to a circle around to semi-naked pagan female images. Vatican News promoted this. Some Catholics are concerned that the Amazonian synod is leading to two Catholic faiths: the traditional one and one that is being called the “Amazonian Religion.” The Vatican has also been promoting an interfaith agenda with the Jews and Muslims with the “Higher Committee of Human Fraternity,” and its first major project, the “Abrahamid Family House” (which is set to open in 2022). Are these good things for Christians? WIll they lead to the rise of Babylonian Beast and Antichrist power? What does the Bible warn about this? Do both the Bible and certain Catholic writings show that the Church of Rome will be betrayed by powers it will align with? Is some type of one world religion being worked on? If so, is the Vatican, World Council of Churches, certain Muslims, and the United Nations involved? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues and more.
Here is a link to our video: Vatican’s Babylonian Amazonian Religion.
Pushing his version of ‘Mary,’ as well as his climate agenda, is something Pope Francis has been doing for years. They are both part of his ecumenical, interfaith, and European agendas (see also Pope Approves New Feast Day for ‘Mary’).
The Bible warns against end time Babylon and says that God’s people should not be part of it:
1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”
4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her. (Revelation 18:1-8)
Despite the biblical warnings about this, Pope Francis wants to use ‘Mary’ as a springboard for the type of ecumenical unity that the Bible condemns. Notice, for one example, how Pope Francis specifically appealed to Mary to unite prior to giving his ‘Angelus prayer’:
And we entrust this, our prayer, to the maternal intercession of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Christ and Mother of the Church so that She, like a good Mother, may unite us. (Angelus Address: On the Thirst for Unity. January 25, 2015 http://www.zenit.org/en/articles/angelus-address-on-the-thirst-for-unity)
The ‘Angelus prayer’ starts out with the words, “Hail Mary” and the pontiff’s goal is a Babylonian unity. The Bible warns against that (Zechariah 2:6-9) and shows that true unity does not come through ‘Mary’ but happens AFTER the return of Jesus Christ (Zechariah 2:10-11; see also Why Should American Catholics Fear Unity with the Orthodox?).
Note the tweet at the beginning of this post shows Francis bowing before what is considered perhaps the oldest Marian icon around.
Francis considers to push a Babylonian ecumenical and interfaith agenda.
