Consumer mobile devices will store the digital identity wallets T-Systems is making with partners, and phones running Google software are refusing to edit photo ID cards. A Mitek survey on bank apps shows the importance of getting biometric authentication right. Meanwhile, Pangiam’s biometric software for airport systems are joining BigBear.ai’s portfolio, and Touch Biometrix has launched it’s FAP60 sensor for enterprise and government applications.

Pakistan is introducing biometric checks for the head of each family with an applicant for an ID card to cut down on fraudulent IDs. NADRA has taken other steps to secure the country’s identity systems with biometrics this year, and is now also joining an investigation into where all the illegal documents are coming from.

Australia’s myGov digital identity platform has been used to carry out US$2 billion in scams already this year, according to government stats. Phishing and other hacks are extracting large volumes of credentials, which are winding up on the dark web in commercial fraud products. Passkeys are being introduced to myGov in a step to address one of the system’s weaknesses.

The EU’s Parliament and Council have agreed on the framework for European Digital ID Wallets. The framework sets out a broad range of use cases for the wallet and the credentials it can store for both public and private sector services, and stipulates that the wallet must be issued for free. Idemia weighs in with a post on the goals for the EUDIW, and some common misconceptions about it.

Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems is collaborating with Gaia-X on a digital ID wallet intended to support self-sovereign identity and expected to be released next year. Combining digital ID with centrally-controlled currency.

The European Parliament (EP) and the bloc’s member-countries have reached a provisional deal on the digital ID framework, and now EU Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton is reported as suggesting CBDC (central bank digital currency) integration should follow.

The provisional agreement on what’s known as the eID (European Digital Identity) regulation is being presented by the EU Council (that worked on the agreement together with the EP) as a safe and trusted option, and also one that “protects democratic rights and values.”

Opponents, like Dutch EP member (MEP) Rob Roos, took to X, though, to announce the news, and brand it as “very bad.” The reason, according to Roos, is that in the process of striking a deal the two EU institutions “ignored all the privacy experts and security specialists.”

Commissioner Breton wasted no time – perhaps on purpose, building on a momentum that was no doubt difficult to get going – to say that now that there is a Digital ID Wallet, “we have to put something in it.”

Much is happening and privacy, financial and otherwise, is being lost. Mobile telephones look to be something governments want people to use so they can be monitored. And notice, this is NOT limited to Europe.

Let me also add that the key to cellular phones and digital identifications is normally a microchip. That is also something that can be implanted on the human body–like in the right hand (cf. Revelation 13:17). That may well be where this is heading.

That said, notice that one referred to above as a “Pro-Censorship Chief” likes this.

As far as more censorship goes, the Bible shows that is coming:

11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
But shall not find it.  (Amos 8:11-12)

Digital censorship will happen related to the above. Artificial Intelligence will also be involved (e.g., watch also Artificial Intelligence Superhuman Persuasion?).

As far as financial controls, we know that they are coming to Europe. The Apostle John was told by Jesus to write the following:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18)

World Economic Forum, CBDCs, and 666

Are there concerns about CBDCs (Central Bank Digitial Currencies)? The Summer meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) was held from June 27-29, 2023 in China. Did WEF speaker and Cornell University professor Eswar Prasad warn of CBDCs could “take us to a pretty dark place’? What did the European Commission say about the future of a digital euro and various protections the same week? Is the tweeted statement, “No one will be able to control how you use your euros” false in the long run according to biblical prophecies, such as Revelation 13:16-18? Is there a real ability to program a CBDC with an expiration date as well as restricting what it could be used to purchase?
