Greenlanders do not want to be Americans, while Denmark & Germany push a united European front

US President-elect Donald Trump continues to make statements that are stirring up various ones around the world. The truth is, on one topic, that Greenlanders are not clamoring to become Americans:

Greenlanders have rejected the idea of joining the US, despite Donald Trump’s insistence that the US could provide the island with “freedom”.

A new poll shows that an overwhelming 85% of Greenlanders do not want the island to become part of the US, despite US President Donald Trump’s push to take control of the semi-autonomous Danish territory.

Trump has ramped up calls to take the world’s largest island, rich in natural resources and home to a US space facility.

“I think we are going to have it,” Trump said on Saturday, insisting the island’s 57,000 residents “want to be with us”.

However, a poll by research company Verian for newspaper Sermitsiaq in Greenland and Danish media outlet Berlingske shows only 6% of residents want to join the US, with 9% undecided. https://www.euronews.com/2025/01/29/most-greenlanders-oppose-joining-us-despite-trumps-push-poll-shows

Germany and Denmark’s political leaders met on Tuesday in a show of unity amid concerns about Russian hybrid warfare in the Baltic Sea and possible US designs on the annexation of Greenland.

The German chancellor did not directly mention US President Donald Trump’s renewed interest in making Greenland a part of the United States. However, he appeared to hint at it during the press conference.

“Borders may not be moved by force: To whom it may concern!” he said.

Mette underlined the notion that Europe needed to take responsibility for its own security.

“We need to step up in Europe, we need a stronger and a more resolute Europe standing increasingly in its own right, capable of defending and promoting Europe and the European interests,” she said. “It is up to Europe to define the future of our continent. In an exclusive interview with Euronews on Wednesday, European Council President António Costa said the territorial integrity of Denmark is an “essential issue” for the European Union.

The European Union gives “full support” to Denmark against Donald Trump’s threat to take control of Greenland and stands ready to defend the principles of national sovereignty and territorial integrity as it did when Russia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, António Costa told Euronews in a wide-ranging interview.

“It is these fundamental principles that lead us to support Ukraine. It is these fundamental principles that lead us to condemn the violations of the border in the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” the president of the European Council said.

“We must not stop defending these principles when the territorial integrity of a member state of the European Union is at stake,” he added.

Europe is getting more and more upset with Donald Trump.

There will be many unintended consequences because of various of Donald Trump’s statements and actions.

Well, one of the unintended consequences of Donald Trump’s hopes for Europe is that more in Europe want increased unity.[i]

Many leaders also want more military strength.[ii] …

While I believe that he believes he wants to help, certain of his actions are pointing to destruction.

Donald Trump has made political, economic, and military statements which will ultimately help the rise of the upcoming Beast power in Europe. Donald Trump seems to think the relationship between Europe and the USA is better than it really is.

This European Beast power will, after it has a prophesied reorganization and rises up, destroy the United States (Daniel 11:39). And the leader of this power is supposed to rise up “When the transgressors have reached their fullness,” (Daniel 8:23).

Pushing against Europe is getting more within Europe to want to unify and build up militarily.

Although Greenland has basically long been friendly with the USA, Donald Trump is turning a friend into a potential enemy (cf. Lamentations 1:1-2).

Europe will become a conquering military power (cf. Revelation 13:1-10; Daniel 11:39-43).

The USA is, inadvertently, pushing this.

There will be many unintended consequences of Donald Trump’s presidency.
