Australia Fires & Ron Weinland

The fires in Australia are a concern:
By MERAIAH FOLEY
SYDNEY, Australia — A series of wildfires that tore across the southern state of Victoria over the weekend killed at least 131 people, the state police said Monday, making it the country’s deadliest firestorm.
Two entire towns were destroyed and at least 750 homes were leveled, along with more than 770 square miles of forest and farmland. Hot winds of more than 62 miles per hour and temperatures that peaked at 117 degrees in Melbourne on Saturday fanned the blazes, some of which the police suspected were set deliberately…
Fires are common during Australia’s hot, dry summers, when the oil-rich eucalyptus forests become especially vulnerable during lightning strikes or sparks thrown from farm equipment. But a prolonged drought and the weekend’s searing temperatures made recent conditions particularly bad…
The deadliest previous blazes were the “Ash Wednesday” fires of 1983, when 75 people were killed and hundreds of homes were destroyed across southern Australia. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/09/world/asia/09australia.html?_r=1&partner=rssemc=rss
LCG announced the following about them:
Bruce Tyler reports: We are having a hot spell in the weather in this part of the world. Adelaide reached a high of 114.26 Fahrenheit on January 28. Melbourne is also very similar. Train lines have buckled, throwing things into chaos as well. The big worry right now is the potential for bush fires. Everything is so dry. Here is a bit of the news covering the subject:
I was not going to mention Ronald Weinland’s Church of God-Preparing for the Kingdom of God today, but notice what the Don’t Drink the Flavor Aid site reported about his latest sermon:
False Prophet Ronald Weinland was in Bloomington IL this weekend. He read a letter from his Australian evangelist Wayne Matthews which proof-texted the 3rd thunder describing the drought in Australia.
Ronald Weinland has attempted to prove much of his error from scripture and take twist news items to fit his changing scenarios. But basically, Ronald Weinland almost always tends to say that his writings and his interpretations are right no matter what the Bible says and no matter that he has repeatedly been proven wrong.
The fact is that the world is in for some perilous times, and it is sad that Ronald Weinland gets some to follow him because of that.
Notice what Ronald Weinland taught in a sermon given March 29, 2008:
If by Pentecost I’m just going to make this real clear to everyone. If by Pentecost it is not powerfully and abundantly clear that there has been a great deal of destruction that will clearly encompass a third of all plant life in the US and at least the clear results of this mingled with blood the death of very much animal life and the beginning of large numbers of human life then I will stop preaching. Just so all the critics and everyone out there will understand. I am true to my word in these things. OK? And for all the critics if by the end of July and for most likely around Pentecost if nothing has clearly caused great destruction and death I will make it very clear that I was a false prophet. I will do exactly what I said I would do on all of those interviews that I have held; to do less, aah well, would be quite insane. (Weinland R. Three More Weeks–quote from near the 1 hour 28 minute point from the CGPFK website version. Sermon given March 29, 2008).
Since Pentecost in 2008 was June 8th, by mid-June Ronald Weinland was to stop preaching according to his own words.
And by mid-July 2008 apologize and publicly admit his error.
Instead on April 19th, he pronounced curses on his critics (see Ronald Weinland Again Calls for Death) and by April 26th, he changed one date. And by late June 2008, he changed his dates. And in August 2008, he declared his ideas about critics to be the “50th truth” he restored to the church.
So, while the situation in Australia is a concern, Ronald Weinland’s interpretations of them should not be trusted. They are not part of the third thunder as Ronald Weinland is now apparently claiming.
He has made many false claims. Ronald Weinland is NOT one of the two witnesses. Nor did the Great Tribulation begin last year as he is still claiming that it did (for some details, see the older item The 1260 Days Did Not Start This Month Ronald Weinland).
Several articles of possibly related interest include:
Concerns About Ronald Weinland’s Church of God-Preparing for the Kingdom of God Ronald Weinland falsely claims to be one of the two witnesses God is raising up and that the end will come in 2008. Is he a false prophet? He has at least one other view that suggests that he is not part of the COG.
Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End? Was a 6000 year time allowed for humans to rule followed by a literal thousand year reign of Christ on Earth taught by the early Christians? When does the six thousand years of human rule end?
Can the Great Tribulation Begin in 2009, 2010, or 2011? Can the Great Tribulation begin today? When is the earliest that the Great Tribulation can begin? What is the Day of the Lord?
Who Are The Two Witnesses? What is their job? What does the Bible reveal? What has the Church of God taught on this subject? Might even Roman Catholic prophecies give some clues here?
There are Many COGs: Why Support the Living Church of God? This is an article for those who wish to easily sort out the different COGs. It really should be a MUST READ for current and former WCG members or any interested in supporting the faithful church. It also explains a lot of what the COGs are all about.
