Blowing of a Shofar

COGwriter

The Feast of Trumpets runs from sunset October 2nd until sunset October 3rd in 2024. The Jews call it Rosh Hashana. Here is something from the Temple Institute:

Shana Tova Umetuka – Wishing all a Good and Sweet New Year!
Elul 29, 5784/October 2, 2024
Today we stand before HaShem. The shofar blows, the trumpets are sounded.  … The shofar that we sound on Rosh HaShana, the sole unique commandment concerning Rosh HaShana, of which we are told, “And in the seventh month, on the first day, there shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall not perform any mundane work. It shall be a day of shofar sounding for you,” (Numbers 29:1)

The Feast of Trumpets is a holy convocation, one in which an offering is taken up.

14:52

Does the Bible command Holy Day Offerings? Should an offering be taken up on the Feast of Trumpets? If the Church of God is to teach all that Jesus commanded, what about crying out on topics that result in getting “shadow banned”? If the “trend is your friend,” do media like radio make sense in this internet age? What about travels and literature? Are you robbing God by not giving tithes and offerings? Does God promise to bless the giver? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues and also blows a chatsoserah and two shofars. On the first day of the seventh month of the biblical calendar, it is a day of blowing the trumpets. Also a special offering was taken up then. Dr. Thiel goes over many scriptures and more in this offertory for the Feast of Trumpets. Offerings can be mailed to the Continuing Church of God, 1036 W. Grand Avenue, Grover Beach, CA 93433. Offerings can also be given online via PayPal–check out: https://www.ccog.org/donations/

Feast of Trumpets & the Purpose of the Church

On September 11, 1980 the late Pastor General Herbert W. Armstrong (Herbert W. Armstrong) gave a sermon for the Feast of Trumpets titled ‘Trumpets and the Purpose of the Church’ in Pasadena, California. After reviewing it, adding more scriptures, and putting in some 21st century updates, Dr. Thiel made this sermon for the Feast of Trumpets for October 3, 2024. Topics covered include “a voice crying out in the wilderness,’ the Holy Days, Christian begettal at Pentecost to be born again at the last trumpet, the return of Jesus, purposes of the church, Philadelphian church governance, false churches, and that Christians should have comfort in God’s plan and the seventh trumpet. Will the nations of the world look forward to the last trumpet? What about true Christians?

God’s Holy Trumpet Plan

The Jews call it Rosh Hashana, the Bible calls it a day for blowing of trumpets. Should you keep the Feast of Trumpets? Was it done away or does it have applications for Christians? What does a shofar sound like? What about a silver trumpet? What plagues are associated with which trumpet in the Book of Revelation? Which trumpet does Jesus return with? When are the saints resurrected? Does God’s holy plan include giving trumpet warnings to the world? Will the bulk of humanity repent or rebel from the events associated with the seven trumpets and seven last plagues or Revelation? Which trumpet proclaims the Kingdom of God? Dr. Thiel goes over all of these matters (and also blows a couple of types of trumpets) in this sermon intended for the Feast of Trumpets.

1:10:49

The Bible tells of a Holy Day where trumpets are to be blown in the seventh month. When is the biblical seventh-month? This Feast of Trumpets is called Rosh Hoshana by the modern Jews. Jews believe that this is the day names are inscribed in the Book of Life. The New Testament also speaks of the Book of Life as well as a resurrection that occurs at the seventh and last trump. Is this a day Christians have long observed? What are some of the lessons that it teaches us? How do you choose life? Are obedience and the Ten Commandments important? Do many who profess Christ not understand God’s plan of salvation because they do not observe this and other biblical Holy Days? Dr. Thiel address these issues and more in this sermon message.
