COVID fear has hurt economies and the IQ of babies

COVID remains in the news:

August 22, 2021

Florida’s Hillsborough County Public Schools have had students in classrooms for only two weeks, and yet Katherine Burdge, a school nurse for the district, said she’s more stressed out than at any other point during the coronavirus pandemic.

The district, the eighth largest in the U.S., has had to isolate or quarantine more than 13,485 students and employees since the start of August, and more than 2,650 of them have tested positive for Covid-19. In response, the Hillsborough County school board ordered a more restrictive mask mandate Wednesday after hours of debate, defying Gov. Ron DeSantis’ order that masking decisions be made by parents.

“It’s frustrating and overwhelming just to be in the position that we are in,” Burdge said. “We have so many children as well as teachers that are either isolated or quarantined right now. It’s really tough for nurses. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/it-s-impossible-lack-covid-safeguards-overwhelm-school-nurses-n1277299

According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 37 million cases have been reported in the U.S., with more than 623,300 deaths reported from the virus. Globally, more than 4.7 billion vaccine doses have been administered, including more than 356 million doses in the U.S. alone.

Worldwide, more than 208 million people have been confirmed infected and more than 4.3 million have died, according to Johns Hopkins University. The true numbers are certainly much higher, because of limited testing, different ways nations count the dead and deliberate under-reporting by some governments. https://www.clickondetroit.com/health/2021/08/22/michigan-covid-heres-what-to-know-aug-22-2021/#//

While COVID can kill, fear has continually been promoted by many in the government and on the media.

There is a cost to that.

Many have gained weight and gotten even more unhealthy because of the lockdowns.

Increased use of drugs and alcohol have been reported.

Increases in certain categories for suicides have been reported.

But that is not all.

There have been economic, freedom, and academic costs to societies around the world.

Here is an official statement related to economic impact in the USA:

The initial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the U.S. economy was widespread and affected people across all age groups and all states while the initial mortality impact targeted mostly older people in just a few states according to independent research by the U.S. Census Bureau. …

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a devastating loss of life but it has also devastated the nation’s economy. …

About half of all national excess deaths were in just two states: New York and New Jersey.

But the economic impact pattern was completely different because it was more geographically widespread.

Every state, except for Wyoming, experienced a statistically significant decline in the employment-to-population ratio during that time. 03/08/21 https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2021/03/initial-impact-covid-19-on-united-states-economy-more-widespread-than-on-mortality.html

The short-term economic impact also included massively increasing debt which will have devastating long-term consequences per Habakkuk 2:6-8.

Notice also what seems to have happened to babies because of the lockdowns:

The study of pre-pandemic babies shows that they had an IQ ranging from 98.5 to 107.3.

But the IQs of babies born during the pandemic sharply fell 27 to 37 points.

The study attributed lockdown policies aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19 such as economic shutdowns, mask-wearing, school disruptions, social distancing and stay-at-home orders. …

The study also shows more male children were affected than females. 08/13/21 https://www.foxnews.com/health/children-pandemic-early-development-study

Pushing fear has many costs.

Notice also the following:

I took a step back from writing about the Wu Flu for a few weeks because there were so many people already writing what I was thinking. But now the country and the world around us are spiraling downward into panic, and officials are feeding us fear porn recklessly. …

Let’s start with this mostly unacknowledged problem: the vaccinated have had the rug pulled right out from under their feet.  They were secure in the knowledge that they did the right thing.  They dutifully rolled up their sleeves, problem solved, COVID could no longer touch them.  Oops! …

Now the vaccinated are aware that there is no truth to the bogus “fact” that they would no longer be in any danger from COVID. The booster shot is being pushed, and pushed hard — but will it be any better than the first two ineffective shots? The fact that the “vaccine” is not a vaccine is becoming obvious. The fear is palpable. …

New Yorkers, for instance, no longer have the freedom to live if they aren’t vaccinated. I can’t imagine (and I’m an ex–New Yorker, so I imagine the city quite well) what that would be like. I guess grocery and restaurant delivery would be the only options. You can’t live like that, not in a city that is a rabbit-warren of small apartments stacked on top of one another, next to one another. It’s a recipe for despair. …

San Francisco is going in the same direction. Want to go to a restaurant or bar? Show your vaccination certificate. In the Bay Area, people are clearly terrified. They’ve started wearing their masks alone, in the car, once again. That’s a pretty strong indicator. …

In Florida, Ron DeSantis is setting up clinics for monoclonal antibody infusions. They’re desperate to shut him down. Treating people for the infection in a forthright, obvious manner means it will no longer have the power to terrify us all into getting the lucrative jabs. We won’t all end up in the hospital; we won’t be dying. Between the antibody treatments, and ivermectin and its cohort of zinc, Vitamin D, etc., the death toll from the virus should be demonstrably minuscule among the otherwise healthy.

I have to add my own honest feelings about this. I am not scared of getting the delta variant. 08/19/21 https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2021/08/fear_porn_incorporated.html

Yes, many have been afraid. Many still are afraid.

In this time of fear-mongering, censorship, and COVID-19 restrictions, remember that Jesus taught:

32 Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32)

33 … In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. (John 16:33b)

Related to dealing with fear during the time of COVID, the Continuing Church of God put out the following sermon on its ContinuingCOG channel:

1:22:34

Billions of people are afraid for many reasons, including COVID-19. Are any fears good? Are there mindless fears and phobias? Can autosuggestion be deceptive? Can you deal with mental torment? What are some causes of bad dreams (nightmares)? Does Satan try to exploit fears through his lies? Can the weak become strong? Were Christ’s disciples ever fearful? Are there biblical ways to deal with fear? What about spiritual fear and the ‘fear of God’? The late evangelists Dr. Herman Hoeh had an article published in 1955 titled ‘How to Conquer Your Fears?’ What are eight steps from the Apostle Peter? What did Jesus teach about worry? Are most Christians Philadelphian? What did Jesus teach about fear? What is the ultimate biblical fate for cowards? Here a the list of ten steps to help rid yourself of fear: 1. “Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things” (Philippians 4:8). Changing your mental focus will help you push out fear. 2. Develop faith. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). 3. Add virtue to your faith in the power of God. You cannot hide your sins from God (cf. Psalm 90:8). 4. Add to virtue knowledge. Study the word of God, study CCOG literature, pay attention to sermons (ContinuingCOG YouTube sermon channel) and sermonettes (BibleNewsProphecy YouTube sermonette channel). 5. Add self-control to knowledge. Resist Satan and his hopes that you will walk by sight instead of faith. 6. Add patience to self-control. You may have to go through many tests and trials to build patience, but as you get through the tests and trials you should have the faith to recognize that God got you through them and that you do not need to fear. 7. Add godliness to patience. 8. Add to patience, brotherly kindness. “Let Philadelphia continue” (Hebrews 13:1). 9. Add to brotherly kindness, love. 10. Be courageous. “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). This is how YOU can conquer your fears and worries! Ask God for help to carry out His ten-fold plan to attain real peace of mind. Then there is also prayer and fasting. Yes, through God’s help you can rid yourself of fear. This sermon by Dr. Thiel covers these topics and more.

Here is a link to the sermon: Ten Plus Steps to Rid Yourself of Fear.

While many government officials are promoting fear and often hypocrisy, understand that Christians do not need to fear.

The hope of Christians is in Jesus and the establishment of the Kingdom of God.

Another point to mention is that even most Christians are accepting a type of  false safetyism.

25 The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. (Proverbs 29:25)

Jesus has promised to never forsake His true followers as the Book of Hebrews teaches:

5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say:

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6)

The Apostle Paul wrote:

7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

We show that love by being a Philadelphian Christian, supporting the work of proclamation and helping the poor.

We are to trust God and not let human fears prevent us from doing so:
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil. (Proverbs 3:5-7)
Departing from evil is more than not doing wrong, as NOT doing good is evil.
17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. (James 4:17)
Now, let’s look at a couple of parables of Jesus:
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ (Matthew 25:14-30)
Notice that one who was afraid and did not truly support the work was not only not praised, but called a wicked and lazy.
Many think it is too hard to figure out which Christian church is most faithful. This is consistent with laziness.

Notice another parable of Jesus:

37 Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. … 40 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. … 42 … “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 44 Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. 45 But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, 46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more. (Luke 12:37,40,42-48)

Most are satisfied enough with their situation that they will not change and support the Philadelphian work in the end times.

DO NOT LET FEAR ‘TAKE YOUR CROWN’ (cf. Revelation 3:11).

Notice something from the Apostle Paul:

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. …

11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. … 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies. 21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-4, 11, 19-22)

We should not fall for false promises, but take comfort in the word of God if we do not despise prophecies, test all things, hold fast what is good and abstain from evil–including the evil of not doing good.

Jesus warned:

14 And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:
15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.
16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’–and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked–
18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ‘ ” (Revelation 3:14-22, NKJV throughout).

There are several differences in the statements to the church of the Laodiceans that do not seem to be included in the messages to the other churches.

These unique statements include: the term for the location being plural (vs. 14), being lukewarm (vs.15-16)–hence they think they are safe, being vomited out (vs.16), thinking they are self-sufficient while not knowing that they are miserable and blind (vs. 17), being counseled to buy gold refined in the fire (vs. 18), that those among them that Jesus loves will be rebuked and chastened (vs. 19), and that Jesus has to knock to find out if any will answer (vs. 20). Jesus also condemns their work–they need to change and support the true Philadelphian work.

The Bible shows that most Laodiceans will die during the Great Tribulation (see also Persecutions by Church and State).

Being “safe,” instead of supporting the Philadelphian work, will not work out well for the Laodiceans unless they do repent and change.

But, sadly, most real Christians have accepted a Laodicean safetyism.

Related to this, last month the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) just put out the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:

15:28

Safetyism & a Parable of Jesus

Many government officials are promoting fear and often hypocrisy, Is secular safetyism a type of religion? Columnist and radio personality Dennis Prager warned about the “destructive ‘religion’ of safetyism.” Fear has been used extensively throughout history. And this has been true around the world related to the coronavirus called COVID-19. Jesus spoke many parables. In one He warned about one who played it too safe and was also to lazy to support the work. In another parable, Jesus warned against one who was not watchful. In other parts of the New Testament, there are teachings admonishing Christians to do good, not despise prophecies, hold fast what is good, to avoid evil, and to support God’s work in other than a lukewarm manner. Dr. Thiel discusses all of these points and refers to many scriptures about fear, comfort, and trust.

The Philadelphia Church Era was predominant circa 1933 A.D. to 1986 A.D. The old Radio Church of God and old Worldwide Church of God, now the remnant of that era is basically the most faithful in the Church of God, like who hold to the beliefs and practices of the Continuing Church of God.
The Laodicean Church Era has been predominant circa 1986 A.D. to present. The Laodiceans are non-Philadelphians who mainly descended from the old WCG or its offshoots.
