Democratic candidates debate and Donald Trump rallies without any knowing the real answers. Milwaukee to burn?

Voice of America reported the following about the latest Democratic debate:

6 Democratic Presidential Candidates Trade Barbs, Attack Trump

January 15, 2020

WASHINGTON – Six U.S. Democratic presidential candidates traded barbs with each other in a tense debate late Tuesday, attempting to make the case to voters in the farm state of Iowa that they alone have the political fortitude and skill to take on Republican President Donald Trump in the November national election.

With heightened world tensions between the U.S. and Iran, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, a self-described democratic socialist, quickly attacked the foreign policy credentials of the party’s national front-runner for the presidential nomination, former Vice President Joe Biden.

Iraq war

Sanders derided Biden’s 2002 vote authorizing the U.S. invasion of Iraq on what proved to be erroneous American intelligence that deposed dictator Saddam Hussein was amassing weapons of mass destruction, while Sanders opposed the the 2003 invasion.

He said Biden voted for the “worst foreign policy blunder in the history of this country.”

Biden, who for years has said his Iraq vote was a mistake, countered that while he had erred, as former U.S. President Barack Obama’s second in command, he worked to bring home more than 150,000 U.S. troops once stationed in Iraq and to end the conflict.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota said that she, as a candidate early in her political career, also opposed the Iraq invasion, while accusing Trump of “taking us pell-mell toward another war,” in the current conflict over the U.S. leader’s changing rationale for ordering a drone strike that killed Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani.

A key challenger to both Biden and Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, a one-time Harvard law professor, and others said they would move to bring thousands of U.S. troops home from the Middle East, at odds with Trump’s recent dispatch of more forces to the region. Warren said, “We have to stop this mindset that the answer” to world’s trouble spots is to send U.S. troops overseas. Asked whether she would leave some combat troops in the Middle East, she replied: “No, we have to get them out.”

Sanders said, “The American people are sick and tired of endless wars.”

Former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, the only war-time veteran on the debate stage, said he could best serve as the country’s commander in chief, because “the lessons of the past are personal to me.” Wealthy environmentalist Tom Steyer contended that Trump “obviously has no strategy” in dealing with Iran and agreed with Biden that it would take the efforts of an international coalition to rein in its nuclear ambitions. …

Can a woman be president?

Warren and Sanders sparred sharply over a private conversation they had more than a year ago in which Warren claims that Sanders questioned whether a woman can defeat Trump to become the first female U.S. president.

Sanders denied making the remark and said no one believes a woman can’t win, noting that Democrat Hillary Clinton out-polled Trump by nearly 3 million votes in 2016, while losing the vote in the country’s state-by-state electoral college system of electing presidents.

When she was asked what she thought when Sanders told her a woman couldn’t defeat Trump in 2020, Warren responded: “I disagreed.”

Warren said that the male candidates on the debate stage had collectively lost 10 elections during their lifetimes, while the two women, herself and Klobuchar, are undefeated.

Health care for all

Biden, Sanders, Warren,  Klobuchar and Buttigieg sparred once again over health care policy, with Sanders and Warren continuing to press for their revolutionary reforms to provide government-run health insurance to all Americans, while Biden, Klobuchar and Buttigieg continued to advocate measures that modify or build on the Affordable Care Act, the Obama administration’s system of publicly subsidized insurance currently under attack by the Trump administration.

At one point, Sanders was asked about estimates that his policies would double federal spending on health care and bankrupt the country. “No, my plan would not bankrupt the country,” Sanders responded, arguing that it would cut administrative costs and co-payments in a way that lowers overall health care costs.   Klobuchar offered a rejoinder: “I think you should show how you’re going to pay for things, Bernie.”

Trump’s incumbent status means Republicans are sure to nominate him to seek a second four-year term in the White House.  But the Democratic race is highly unsettled. (https://www.voanews.com/usa/us-politics/6-democratic-presidential-candidates-trade-barbs-attack-trump)

While a woman can be elected president (cf. Isaiah 3:12) and I basically agree with Democrats that Donald Trump has issues. None of those I saw speak last night or later read about appear to have the moral leadership that the USA really needs. Unbiblical economic and other proposals were made, that I saw when I caught parts of the debate last night.

The USA needs repentance and the Kingdom of God. None of the candidates (including the current President) advocates that.

Whoever wins in 2020 will be dangerous.

None of what I watched, heard, or read related to that Democratic debate suggested to me that any of the candidates understood the fundamental problems facing the USA. And of course, none called for repentance nor turning to biblical morality. Instead, I heard statements that the Democrats say they want tolerance, by which, it appeared to me that what was wanted was suppression of aspects of biblical morality to push a disastrous sexual immorality agenda.

Proclaiming tolerance, they tend to want to force intolerance.

As far as intolerance goes, notice something proposed by a self-proclaimed supporter of Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders:

We may very well see violent civil unrest in the USA because of the planned election for this year. The above person also suggested re-education camps to try to force people to accept aspects of a socialist agenda (https://www.zerohedge.com/political/gulags-werent-bad-sanders-staffer-says-trump-supporters-will-need-be-re-educated-camps).

Sadly, people on both sides of the political spectrum have wrongly suggested/promoted violence if they do not get their way. This is not good for the USA. As Jesus said:

25 Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. (Matthew 12:25)

17 Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. (Luke 11:17)

The divide in the USA is growing as many of its sins (including hypocrisy) become more blatant.

Strife (#7) and the US Presidential election (#20) were among the 20 items to prophetically watch in 2020 (here is a link to a related sermon: 20 Prophetic Items to Watch in 2020).

I also caught part of Donald Trump’s rally in Wisconsin last night. He touted many things he is taking credit for–and some of them were deserved.

Yet, he failed to mention how the official US debt, to cite one example, has continued to rise a lot under his Administration (see the earlier post today: Habakkuk’s warnings are in the process of being fulfilled: Have you understood them?).

What is happening is a ‘recipe for disaster’ for the US no matter who wins (Republican or Democrat or ?) in 2020.

The reality is that the US is in the process of bankrupting itself economically and morally. It is basically already there, but it looks like many want to accelerate the fall of the US, and several of the Democratic candidates were proposing economic plans which look to do that.

Of course, by virtue of the timing, whoever is elected in 2020, Democrat or Republican, will be apocalyptic.

Within a decade or so, the US will be taken over (cf. Daniel 11:39) and debt and sin will be factors (Habakkuk 2:6-8) (see USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses and Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?).

Related to the 2020 campaign, the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) put out the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:

11:23

Various politicians have announced their intentions to run for the office of the President of the United States in 2020. ‘Politico’ ran an article about the ‘sorry state’ of various candidates. Some candidates have felt the need to apologize for previous statements in support of biblical marriage and the need to endorse items of the LGBTQ agenda. Many also support abortion and other anti-biblical actions. Are these ‘American values’? Should the English language be changed to eliminate male/female and singular pronouns? Does the Bible warn about female leaders? Does the Bible warn about leaders that lead people to err? What about condoning sexual immortality? Do the presidential contenders fit prophecies warned about in 2 Timothy 3:1-5? These are some of the subjects that Dr. Thiel addresses.

Here is a link to the sermonette video: Sorry state of the 2020 presidential campaign.

Pray for the Kingdom of God to come (Matthew 6:10). Also pray as Jesus taught:

34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)

We can expect troubles and tribulation before Jesus returns (Mark 13:8-20).

And that will happen no matter which party wins the 2020 US Presidential election.
