LCG: ‘Is God Trying to Get Our Attention?’

The following were written by Thursday and read as part of the weekly update at Living Church of God (LCG) services yesterday (note: bolding in source):

As the Southeast picks up the pieces from last week’s storms, and Texas tries to recover from devastating wildfires, floods from spring rains now threaten vast portions of the American Midwest (see News and Prophecy). Is God trying to get our attention? With troubles mounting in modern Israelite countries around the world, what a privilege it is that we in this Work know why these things happening, and can help others to understand it as well!…

News and Prophecy

God predicted long ago that one of the signs of the end of the age would be droughts in some cities while other cities experience severe rains and flooding (Amos 4:7-9). In addition, because of Israel’s sins, God promises plagues of blight, mildew and devastating hail (Haggai 2:17)…

God promised that, due to the sins of the Israelite-descended nations and their rejection of Him, He would “send fire upon his cities, and it shall devour his palaces” (Hosea 8:14). Watching destruction and suffering is sobering and sad. Yet God predicted this destruction as long as humanity continues to reject Him (Hosea 7:13-16).

Unlike some groups, LCG considers the events that have been happening of prophetic importance. The Bible warns, “Woe to you who put far off the day of doom” (Amos 6:3). Hopefully, all of us are paying attention, not only for personal repentance and spiritual growth, but to also support the work of telling others.

In a pre-recorded sermon we watched yesterday, LCG’s Presiding Evangelist Roderick C. Meredith stated (from my notes, not a transcript):

God told Ezekiel {5:4}…problems will go to the whole house of Israel…In all your dwelling places the cities shall be laid waste {Ezekiel 6:6}…Disaster will come upon disaster {Ezekiel 7:26}…

Brethren this our responsibility–this is the work of Jesus Christ…If we warn the people…see what it says in Ezekiel 33…”So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me…Nevertheless if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul…”…Therefore…say to the house of Israel: ‘Thus you say, “If our transgressions and our sins lie upon us…”…

We must tell the descendants of Israel…their sins…God wants us to do that…Brethren, events are building up right now…

The descendants of Joseph {like the USA and UK} will be taken captive for their sins, abortion, homosexuality,…their pride, {Amos 6:6-8}. (Meredith RC. The Destiny of America and Britain. Sermon, July 24, 2010)

Many simply do not realize how serious world conditions are. Some apparently do not want to know:

10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, ‘The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’ (Amos 9:10)

This is probably part of why what we in LCG are trying to do is to be a witness, which is what Jesus requires for the end to come:

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14)

Jesus placed the above message in after of warning about sorrows (Matthew 24:3-8), persecution (24:9-10) and the “love of many waxing cold” (24:12), and before the signs to flee (15-20) and the start of the Great Tribulation (24:21)

We in the Living Church of God believe that explaining how world events align with biblical prophecy, including the warning messages of personal and national repentance to all (and especially the physical descendants of Israel, like the Anglo-nations), is important. Now is the time to do this.
