Life to Mars? Life on/from Mars?

There have been news items related to life being on and/or from Mars and as well as a plan to send life to Mars. The first item came out several hours ago:

An ambitious project that aims to send volunteers on a one-way trip to Mars unveiled plans for the first private unmanned mission to the Red Planet Tuesday, a robotic vanguard to human colonization that will launch in 2018.

The non-profit Mars One foundation has inked deals with Lockheed Martin Space Systems and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL) to draw up mission concept studies for the private robotic flight to Mars. Mineral-munching microbes could have found a hospitable environment in an ancient Martian lake, according to new research.

Scientists say it’s the best evidence yet of conditions suitable for life on the red planet.

Earlier this year, NASA reported evidence of water on Mars that could have sustained life.

The latest research, published in Science, shows the Mars rover Curiosity has found iron and sulfur minerals in different chemical states at the bottom of an ancient lakebed…

Life on Mars and Earth

The area appears to have been a lake more recently than researchers thought – though still nearly 4 billion years ago.

That’s about the time life was emerging on Earth.

“It could be that the two planets had emerging but very simplified life at the same time,” McSween said. “But we’re a long way from figuring out that this interesting lake deposit has any evidence of life.” http://www.voanews.com/content/ancient-mars-lake-could-have-supported-life/1806648.html

One hope that some have is that if the Earth becomes uninhabitable that humans will be able to live on another planet, such as Mars. But the Bible, while allowing for the idea of colonization of various planets, shows that Earth will be changed and will be inhabitable:

1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (Revelation 21:1-3)

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. (Psalms 37:11)

5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)

8 Thus says the Lord:

“In an acceptable time I have heard You,
And in the day of salvation I have helped You;
I will preserve You and give You
As a covenant to the people,
To restore the earth,
To cause them to inherit the desolate heritages; (Isaiah 49:8)

22 For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth, But those cursed by Him shall be cut off. (Psalms 37:22)

9 For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, But it shall be no more. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. (Psalms 37:9-11)

Mars is not the hope for humanity–the Kingdom of God, being established on the Earth, is.

Some time back I reported that some so-called ‘scientists’ are now claiming that life on Earth probably came from Mars as the Earth did not have certain building blocks like Mars does (see BBC: Life may have come from Mars?).

They have to keep coming up with guesses as science has still not proven their unprovable model for life beginning without God. And without believing in the God of the Bible or accepting the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ, they have no hope, hence that is perhaps part of why various ones wish to colonize Mars and other possible planets.

Those who believe that the Earth will become desolate are correct, but notice that God has a plan:

21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened…

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:21-22; 29-31)

And that plan, not Mars can be relied upon.

Life on Earth did not spring up from Mars. Mars is not the hope of humankind, Jesus is.
