Stephen Hawking died. He left the wrong legacy, but does he have a chance?
Stephen Hawking
Theoretical physicist and atheist Stephen Hawking has died:
14 March 2018
World renowned physicist Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76. …
Through his work with mathematician Sir Roger Penrose he demonstrated that Einstein’s general theory of relativity implies space and time would have a beginning in the Big Bang …
Hawking’s discoveries
- With the Oxford mathematician Roger Penrose, he showed that if there was a Big Bang, it must have started from an infinitely small point – a singularity …
In his 2013 memoir he described how he felt when first diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
“I felt it was very unfair – why should this happen to me,” he wrote. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-43396008
Since Stephen Hawking believed in randomness, one would think he would not think that anything was fair or unfair.
Here is another report about him:
14 March 2018
The highly respected scientist’s comments were sought for nearly every major discovery in the worlds of physics, astronomy and cosmology.
The recipient of 12 honorary degrees, Hawking was also named Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University, a post held by Sir Isaac Newton over 300 years earlier. …
“A complete, consistent unified theory is only the first step: our goal is a complete understanding of the events around us, and of our own existence,” Hawking wrote in “A Brief History of Time,” which was published in 1988 and spent over four years on British best-seller charts.
As a result of this research, Hawking proposed a model of the universe based on two concepts of time: “real time,” which he said was time as humans experience it, and “imaginary time,” on which he said the world may actually run.
“The universe is self-contained, and without boundary, in imaginary time,” he said. “However, in real time, the universe will appear to begin at the Big Bang.”
When asked whether God had a place in his work, Hawking answered, “In a way, if we understand the universe, we are in the position of God.” http://www.dw.com/en/renowned-british-physicist-stephen-hawking-dies-at-76/a-42965469
No, Dr. Hawking we never were in the position of God. The Bible teaches, “let God be true but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4). And Dr. Hawking was often not true.
Regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News page realize that I have written about Stephen Hawking before. Additionally, we also produced two videos about him in the past:
Stephen Hawking and ‘Alien Destruction’ CBS reported that theoretical physicist and atheist was concerned about three ways humanity could be destroyed. One of them was actually by being conquered by aliens. Does the Bible give credence to anything that could be considered as ‘alien’? Will ‘alien beings’ be a factor in Armageddon? Will humans fight against Jesus when He returns? Will the result of the type of ‘alien interventions’ the Bible discusses turn out in disaster or peace? This is a video.
Stephen Hawking is wrong about the ‘end of the world’ Atheist and theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking stated that humans will not last another 1000 years on planet Earth. His ‘solutions’ included finding another planet or looking for alternative planes of existence. Dr. Hawking is considered the smartest man on the Earth according to some, but you can know more of the truth if you believe what the Bible itself teaches. Dr. Thiel quotes the words of Jesus and other portions of scripture to explain where Dr. Hawking is right about some of his ideas, but wrong about others. Does the Bible show that all Christians be protected at the end or only a few? This is a video.
Furthermore, this month I have been working on a script for an animation, as well as a new booklet, that Dr. Hawking is featured in.
But his legacy is not a good one.
While many sought out his comments, the last public ones I heard about (and reported here recently, see Stephen Hawking claims. ‘There was NOTHING before the Big Bang’) had to do with his belief about the Big Bang, like the following:
March 3, 2018
We’ve heard a lot about the Big Bang. It’s the moment when something impossibly tiny began to grow over the next billions of years to become the universe that we know (at least partially) today.
But what was there before it? Anything? Nothing? Some small, inaudible bangs?
Neil deGrasse Tyson, on his “Star Talk” show, sat his fellow physicist Stephen Hawking down and asked for his view.
Hawking offered a simple and direct answer.
“Nothing was around before the Big, Big Bang,” Hawking said.
He explained that Einstein’s Theory of Relativity insists space and time form a continuum curved by the matter and energy in it.
For Hawking, therefore, the beginning of the universe is best described by a Euclidean approach.
“Ordinary real time is replaced by imaginary time,” he said. Honestly, that happens to me all the time. I imagine time has gone by at a certain pace, only to discover I’ve been imagining things.
For Hawking, however, imaginary time “behaves like a fourth direction of space.” https://www.cnet.com/news/stephen-hawking-tells-degrasse-tyson-what-preceded-big-bang/
So, Dr. Hawking claimed that out of nothing everything physical came into existence.
Well, then there must have been something spiritual that caused it to come into existence. Not time.
By definition, there is nothing in nothing, hence nothing cannot create everything. Consider also the following:
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them: for God hath shown it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:19-20).
The fact of a physical universe opposes the view that nothing created it.
Actually, what preceded the “big bang” has always been a problem for the foolish evolutionist types.
March 3, 2018
The Big Bang theory is the idea that the entire universe began as a pinprick that has been expanding ever since—essentially, that the only reason the universe feels so vast is because it’s had 13.8 billion years to get that way. The idea itself has held up pretty well, although scientists still aren’t quite sure what force is driving all that growth.
And of course, the theory itself doesn’t do anything to explain where precisely that first dot of the universe came from in the first place, hence the brainteaser. And we do mean it when we say brainteaser—Hawking’s explanation includes this excellent line: “Ordinary real time is replaced by imaginary time, which behaves like a fourth direction of space.”
But don’t let that scare you off; his main point is surprisingly easy to grasp: Hawking approaches the problem by offering a detailed analogy, comparing space-time to any other continuous, curved surface, like the surface of the Earth. “There is nothing south of the South Pole,” Hawking says. The same principle holds with the universe: “There was nothing around before the Big Bang.” http://www.newsweek.com/what-watch-stephen-hawking-explain-what-he-thinks-came-big-bang-829026
Dr. Hawking’s logic was false and his conclusion wrong. Yes, relying on IMAGINARY TIME as the cause of the universe is not correct, despite Dr. Hawking trying to make his view sound scientific.
As far as aspects of the worldly ‘Big Bang’ theory, notice something Richard Muller, Professor of Physics at the University of California in Berkeley declared:
It is conceivable that the Big Bang was the creation of space, and maybe also of time. But that is not a scientific theory; it is the musing of scientists, the kind they go through before they figure out how to turn it into a real theory. It is not a scientific result; it is a speculation without foundation. Don’t confuse the musings of scientists with science.
Yet, many falsely considered incorrect musings by Dr. Hawking as science. They were not. They were the musings of an atheist who wanted to believe a lie.
The Bible distinguishes between those that will obey God’s commandments (which includes the one about being a false witness) and those who believe and practice lies:
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (Revelation 22:14-15)
To say there was nothing that turned into everything, as Dr. Hawking did, is not scientific–it is a lie. Oh yes, Dr. Hawking claimed that somehow imaginary time caused it, but that is also an erroneous and absurd position.
Even back in New Testament times, there were those who called error ‘science,’ which is what evolution as an explanation of the origin of life and the origin of the universe is. Notice something that the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy:
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. (1 Timothy 6:20-21, KJV)
But God is spiritual and created the universe. Those who think that with nothing the universe popped up without God are really being absurd.
The Apostle Paul also wrote the following to Timothy:
7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, (2 Timothy 3:7-9)
People like Dr. Hawking have always claimed to be learning. But obviously, he and others like him have NOT been able to come to the knowledge of the truth. He and the bulk of the evolutionists have NOT been progressing, have been RESISTING THE TRUTH, and the folly of their positions should be obvious to all. Dr. Hawking’s recent statement, “there was nothing around before the Big Bang,” is a public manifestation to all that the evolutionists’ explanations for the origin of the universe without a Creator God is folly.
The only logical explanation of what preceded the physical universe is that something not physical always existed and brought the universe into existence.
That is what the Bible teaches.
A spiritual being, the Creator God, initiated the universe.
True science and real logic must conclude that this is so (see also Is God’s Existence Logical?).
Dr. Hawking’s legacy was that he pushed anti-God views that were wrong.
Does that mean that he is condemned to eternal torture and with no opportunity for salvation?
No.
Will salvation be offered to all who ever lived?
Absolutely!
Notice what the New Testament and the Old Testament plainly teach:
6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. (Luke 3:6)
10 And all the ends of the earth shall see The salvation of our God. (Isaiah 52:10)
It is doubtful that Stephen Hawking has ever seen the salvation of God. It does not appear that he ever understood the true The Gospel of the Kingdom of God.
Those in that category, which is the bulk of those who have ever lived, will receive an opportunity for salvation after the second resurrection. This is not a second chance, as many have been deceived and blinded by Satan (cf. Revelation 12:9), and, therefore, have not yet received their first chance.
Notice that God is willing to forgive all iniquities for those blinded who will respond in Isaiah 43:8-9 and 25-26:
8 Bring out the blind people who have eyes, And the deaf who have ears. 9 Let all the nations be gathered together, And let the people be assembled. Who among them can declare this, And show us former things? Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified; Or let them hear and say, “It is truth.”
25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins. 26 Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted.
At the second resurrection, all will be judged. All will be judged guilty of sin, as all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God per Romans 3:23). Yet, that will not be eternal condemnation.
Why?
Notice what James 2:13 teaches:
13…Mercy triumphs over judgment.
While God has mercy on some now, God will have mercy on those not called to be firstfruits in this age and this teaching will be hard for many to understand now as Romans 11:30-33 teaches:
30 For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31 even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. 33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
So, notice that God is INTENTIONALLY allowing some to be disobedient now, so that they will get mercy later and that those called now (the firstfruits) will have obtained mercy now. And God has done this so that He might have mercy on all–this apparently could not have happened any other way. The only way for God to have mercy on ALL is for salvation to be offered to all in a manner they can properly comprehend.
That offer of salvation will be made to all.
As far as Stephen Hawking goes, perhaps then he will repent.
