Trump Administration ‘expands’ religious conscious exemptions, while Alabama lawmaker pushes infanticide

First the ‘good’ news:

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration on Thursday moved to protect the rights of clinicians who object to participating in abortions with a regulation intended to safeguard those with religious and moral objections.
President Donald Trump made the announcement during a speech in the White House Rose Garden to mark the National Day of Prayer.
“Just today we finalized new protections of conscience rights for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, teachers, students and faith-based charities,” Trump said. “They’ve been wanting to do that for a long time.”
The conscience rule was a priority for religious conservatives who are a key part of Trump’s political base, but some critics fear it will become a pretext for denying medical care to LGBT people.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the rule requires hospitals, universities, clinics and other institutions that receive funding from federal programs such as Medicare and Medicaid to certify that they comply with some 25 federal laws protecting conscience and religious rights.
Most of these laws and provisions address medical procedures such as abortion, sterilization and assisted suicide.
Clinicians and institutions would not have to provide, participate in, pay for, cover or make referrals for procedures they object to on moral or religious grounds, HHS said. The reason I put quotes around ‘good’ and ‘expands’ is that those rules should never have been necessary as supposedly the USA already has freedom of religion according to its constitution–but so, supposedly, do many other countries that do not really mean it.
Sadly, certain government officials and courts have often attempted to force people to violate their religious beliefs on various issues (gender, sexual immortality, Sabbath-observance, and abortion come to immediate mind). We will see more of this in the future (cf. Revelation 13:11-18).

An Alabama state lawmaker is taking heat for bizarre comments he made in advance of a bill that will criminalize nearly all abortions in the state.
The measure passed with a 74-3 vote in the state’s GOP-led House on Tuesday but not before several Democrats, including state Rep. John Rogers, voiced their opposition, according to the Daily Wire.
“I’m not about to … tell a woman what to do with her body. She has the right to make that decision herself,” Rogers said. “Some kids are unwanted. So you kill them now or you kill them later. You bring them into the world unwanted, unloved — you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or kill them later.”
Then the 78-year-old Birmingham pol made a suggestion.
“I may bring a bill to force all men to have vasectomies,” he said, according to the Alabama Political Reporter. “That would end this whole debate. There would be no more abortions and eventually no more voters.”
The measure — which would make it a felony to perform an abortion at any stage of pregnancy — will now advance to the state Senate. CNN has reached out to Rogers.
He defended his statement in an interview with AL.com, arguing that Alabama is “killing people every day” by closing rural hospitals, its high prison homicide rate and lack of Medicaid expansion.
“So why do you want to bring these people in the world and then deny them right to process and live in Alabama?” Rogers said Thursday.
Senate Majority Leader Greg Reed, a Republican, said in a statement that Rogers’ remarks were “chilling” and called for the comments to be condemned “at the state and national level.”
HB 314, which its Republican supporters hope could spark a legal challenge to Roe v. Wade, passed the GOP-controlled House on Tuesday in a 74-3 vote. Abortion and other forms of infanticide are wrong–yet various ones keep pushing for more of both of them (see also US leaders endorsing infanticide).

Infanticide is not new.
Abortion is a form of it.
But so is killing infants or not taking care of them so they die.

The fact that murder has been going on since Cain murdered Abel (Genesis 4:8) does not justify it.

Nearly everyone knows the commandments, “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13).
The Jews knew them as well as the Hebrew scriptures, which we now call the Old Testament. So, they knew it was wrong.
During Old Testament times, there were people who sacrificed their infants to Molech.
God did not approve:
1 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Again, you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. 3 I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name. 4 And if the people of the land should in any way hide their eyes from the man, when he gives some of his descendants to Molech, and they do not kill him, 5 then I will set My face against that man and against his family; and I will cut him off from his people, and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit harlotry with Molech. Infanticide is wrong. Infanticide is murder. Murder is a sin.
