Concerns about the US dollar are in the news:

The USD is off to its worst start since 1985, down about 9%. In the chart below (courtesy of Bianco Research), it appears the USD is tracing its performance in 1985 quite closely. Of course, 1985 was the worst year for the USD in almost 40 years, so if we stay on the current path, expect the USD to drop another 10% from here. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-08-02/2017s-dollar-collapse-worst-start-1985

While the US dollar is down against the Euro this year, this is NOT a collapse. At least not in the scale that Bible prophecy indicates will happen to the US dollar.

Because of debt and trade deficits, the US dollar is over valued. But because of concerns about other nations, the US dollar is still over valued.

As far as debt goes, the US plans on increasing it:

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has begun lobbying congressional leaders for a “clean” debt ceiling increase, according to Capitol Hill sources. …

Mnuchin is seeking a clean debt ceiling increase by Sept. 29, according to a letter he sent to congressional leaders last week. To get it through Congress by then will require both the House and Senate to begin work soon after they return from the August recess.

“To ensure that we have robust economic growth and to promote fiscal discipline, the Trump administration believes it’s important to raise the debt ceiling as soon as possible,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Tuesday afternoon. “Over the past two decades, members of Congress and presidents from both parties have raised the debt ceiling 15 times, and we look forward to working with Congress to ensure the full faith and credit of the United States government.” http://www.politico.com/story/2017/08/01/clean-debt-ceiling-boost-steve-mnuchin-241200

So, the USA has raised its so-called debt ceiling 15 times in the past two decades and its Secretary of the Treasury says that this needs to be done again.

This is not good.

Here is something I wrote related to debt and the Euro in my book Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse:

The Bible warns that debt, and having to borrow from foreigners, is a curse that would hit those who received various biblical blessings as they became more disobedient (Deuteronomy 28:15,43-46).

Donald Trump loves debt. Here something he said about it in 2016:

I’m the king of debt. I love debt. [Egan M. Donald Trump: ‘I’m the king of debt.’ CNN, May 7, 2016]

There was about $20 trillion of recognized US government debt before Donald Trump took office.

He plans to increase that total. Some think his stated policies will add around $10 trillion to that total [Matthews C. Donald Trump Calls for Exploding the National Debt. Fortune, August 11, 2016].

Since many are now questioning the role of the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency, more are looking into other currencies as well as gold. Gold will set records in US dollar terms.

It has been proposed that various nations around the world are already in the process of accumulating gold to one day overthrow the U.S. dollar—and that the “U.S. is unprepared for this strategic alternative to dollar dominance.” (Rickards J. Axis of Gold. The Daily Reckoning, December 20, 2016)

When the U.S. dollar totally collapses people all around the world will consider that even if the Euro (or something similar) is strong, having a more gold-backed currency would be safer.

The collapse of the USA dollar will shake a lot of the world’s confidence in non-gold backed currencies.

The Europeans do not have to have a perfect currency, only one that is perceived to be in better shape than the USA dollar.

Having the European power acquiring more gold to back the Euro or possibly another future European currency (that might potentially replace the Euro or even a basket of currencies) may greatly increase European credibility, prosperity, and influence around the globe, even if the backing is only implied.

The debt accumulation policies of the Obama Administration, which are a massive acceleration of the previous policies of the Bush Administration, look like they will be continued by Donald Trump.

The increases in America’s debt are heading the world into the time when something other than the U.S. dollar will be valued as its reserve currency.

A Donald Trump Administration would need to make massive changes to possibly prevent this.

Whether or not the EU keeps the Euro, the Bible shows that Europe will become the world’s leading economic power (Revelation 13) for a time (Revelation 18). The Bible also shows that Europe’s coming King of the North leader will acquire more gold (cf. Daniel 11:43; see also The Plain Truth About Gold in Prophecy. How Should a Christian View Gold?).

The time will come when the US dollar will have no value other than to be burnt for heat.

Consider that the Bible shows that an indebted end time power will be taken over. Around 2600 years ago, God inspired the prophet Habakkuk to write the following:

2 And the Lord answered me:

“Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:2-3, ESV)

So, the above is an end time prophecy. A prophecy that is so important that people should take action.

Why?

Because of a nation that increases pledges of debt:

6 Shall not all these take up their taunt against him, with scoffing and riddles for him, and say,

“Woe to him who heaps up what is not his own—
for how long?—
and loads himself with pledges!”
7 Will not your debtors suddenly arise,
and those awake who will make you tremble?
Then you will be spoil for them.
8 Because you have plundered many nations,
all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder you,
for the blood of man and violence to the earth,
to cities and all who dwell in them. (Habakkuk 2:6-8 ESV)

The USA is the most indebted nation in the history of humanity. It will be taken over.

For those who do not think so, consider that the Bible also shows that the strongest military power will be taken over by a European power in the end (Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses). These prophecies point to a total collapse of not only the US dollar, but the entire USA itself!

The Bible shows that although Europe will have problems (Daniel 2:41-43), that it will rise up anyway and dominate for a time militarily (Daniel 11:39-43) and economically (cf. Revelation 17 & 18). But it too, will come to an end (Daniel 11:44-45; Revelation 17:14; 18 & 19).
