Is the USA facing imminent disaster? Consider the following opinion:

America’s Disneyland Economy

Disneyland is known as a place “where dreams come true” and where every story always has a happy ending. But there is going to be no happy ending for the U.S. economy.

Wishful thinking has resulted in one of the greatest stock market rallies in history in recent months, but like all childhood fantasies, it won’t last. The real economy continues to deteriorate, and we can see this even right outside of the gates of Disneyland. Every night growing numbers of homeless people sleep on the pavement just steps away from “the happiest place on Earth”. It can be fun to “play make believe” for a while, but eventually reality always catches up with us.Without a doubt, the stock market has been on a tremendous run. Since Donald Trump’s stunning election victory in November, the market has been setting record high after record high, and it is now up a total of 17 percent…

The Dow Jones Industrial Average recorded its 23rd all time high of 2017 yesterday closing at 21,532. There have been a total of 120 days where the markets have closed since President Trump’s inauguration on January 20th. The ‘DOW’ has closed at all time highs 23 of those days for nearly 20% or one-fifth of the days the market has been open. The market is up 9% since the inauguration.

Since the election on November 8th the DOW has closed at record highs an amazing 40 times! Nearly one-fourth or 24% of the 168 days the markets have closed have been record highs since the November 8th election. The market is up 17% since the election!

If this surge was supported by hard economic data, that would be something to greatly celebrate, but that has not been the case at all.

Instead, stock prices have become completely disconnected from economic reality, and now we are facing one of the greatest stock bubbles of all time. As Graham Summers has pointed out, stocks are now trading at price to sales ratios that we haven’t seen since the very height of the dotcom bubble…

Earnings, cash flow, and book value are all financial data points that can be massaged via a variety of gimmicks. As a result of this, valuing stocks based on Price to Earnings, Price to Cash Flow, and Price to Book Value can often lead to inaccurate valuations.

Sales on the other hand are all but impossible to gimmick. Either money came in the door, or it didn’t And, if a company is caught faking its sales numbers, someone is going to jail.

So the fact that stocks are now trading at a P/S ratio that matches the Tech Bubble (the single largest stock bubble in history) tells us that we’re truly trading at astronomical levels: levels associated with staggering levels of excess.

There is no possible way that this is sustainable, and just like before the 2008 crisis a whole host of experts are warning that disaster is imminent. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-07-17/americas-disneyland-economy

Stocks go up and down because of many factors. The hope of regulatory relief, increased manufacturing and energy jobs, and lower corporate taxes under the Trump Administration are some of the reasons there has been a surge in prices in the US stocks. Presuming interest rates rise further, this would also be a pressure against the stock market as many would be expected to pull money out of stocks and into cash-based assets (like certificates of deposit and perhaps bonds). The stock market bubble could slowly or quickly ‘burst.’

But as far as “Disneyland” goes, let me state that Disneyland is an artificial place. It has the facade of being real, and many people enjoy visiting it, but it is an artificial environment.

The USA has been existing in a type of artificial economic environment. It has long been importing more than it exports and has benefited exceedingly by its dollar being the world’s reserve currency.

As far as the prices of stock since late 2008, the fact of massive US deficits as well as about $4.5 trillion injected into the economy by the counterfeiting called “quantitative easing” by the US Federal Reserve has propped up the US stock market. The economy of the USA as well as its stock markets have been artificially stimulated at massive levels since late 2008. Eventually that bubble will burst.

Now instead of more quantitative easing, the Federal Reserve has decided to “rebalance its assets” with what could be called “quantitative tightening.” That poses stock market and other risks to the economy of the USA (see Rickards: ‘Why Quantitative Tightening Will Fail.’ What do the Dead Sea Scrolls say about Habakkuk’s timing?).

Is disaster imminent as Michael Snyder wrote?

It depends how you define those terms.

If by imminent disaster, he means that the economy of the USA will be totally destroyed this year, then no that will not happen.

However, I suspect he means that stock market prices could drop significantly within the next year. And that could happen for many reasons, including international matters like North Korea.

As regular readers of this page should be aware, God inspired the prophet Habakkuk to write the following over 2600 years ago:

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you. Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

9 “Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster! 10 You give shameful counsel to your house, Cutting off many peoples, And sin against your soul. 11 For the stone will cry out from the wall, And the beam from the timbers will answer it. (Habakkuk 2:9-11)

The above prophecy will be fulfilled at the time of the end. This can be verified by also checking with other scriptures (cf. “The message was true, but the appointed time was long…in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come,” Daniel 10:1,14). Daniel 8:19, 11:27,29,35 use the same Hebrew term for “appointed time” as Habakkuk 2:3, while Daniel 10, using a different term, ties the latter days to the time in Daniel 8:19. Habakkuk 2 was not fulfilled in its entirety anciently.

Notice also the following from the Commentary on Habakkuk from the ancient Dead Sea Scrolls (roughly 2000 years old; translated in the 1950s by F.F. Bruce):

God commanded Habakkuk to write the things that were coming upon the last generation, but the fulfilment of the epoch he did not make known to him. (1Q p Hab. vii 1-5)

While ancient commentaries like this are NOT scripture, this particular one shows that those who understood the Hebrew language around 2000 years ago believed that Habakkuk’s words had NOT then been fulfilled and were for the time of the end–and that is true

Furthermore, the USA has a lot of debt:

The U.S. economy is the most highly indebted in the history of the world as a percentage of the global economy. The debt has piled up precariously on an eroding foundation of collateral. Think of trying to build a skyscraper out of pick-up sticks. The higher it gets, the more certain it is to collapse. (Davidson JD. The Economic Mess Trump Inherited. The USA is the most indebted nation of all time. The prophecy in Habakkuk is directed towards it.

The time will come when there will be a total collapse of the official economy of the USA. The USA will be taken over (Habakkuk 2:7-8; Daniel 11:39) and its lands will be divided (Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses). And this will not just be because of debt:

16 The anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them (Lamentations 4:16, KJV).

2 And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land. They have also cast lots for my people…(Joel 3:2-3, NKJV).

17… Your land shall be divided by survey line; You shall die in a defiled land; And Israel shall surely be led away captive From his own land (Amos 7:17, NKJV)

By promoting abortion, war, the LGBTQ agenda, pornography, and other sins, God will allow the USA to be punished (cf. also Isaiah 10:5-12)

I used the KJV for Lamentations 4:16 as it correctly translated the Hebrew word as divided. The is term translated as “scattered them” by the NKJV in Lamentations, but it is the same Hebrew word (Strong’s 2505) used in Daniel 11:39 translated as “divide.”

It is also the same Hebrew word used in Ezekiel 5:1 where the hair (apparently representing the U.S.A., etc.) is divided and then God will “scatter to the wind”–hence indicating that the people that survive will end up in many lands (and not in a good way):

1 “And you, son of man, take a sharp sword, take it as a barber’s razor, and pass it over your head and your beard; then take scales to weigh and divide the hair. 2 You shall burn with fire one-third in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are finished; then you shall take one-third and strike around it with the sword, and one-third you shall scatter in the wind: I will draw out a sword after them…12 One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them…8 Yet I will leave a remnant, so that you may have some who escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the countries. (Ezekiel 5:1-2,12; 6:8).

13 “Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst. 14 Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? I, the Lord, have spoken, and will do it. 15 I will scatter you among the nations, disperse you throughout the countries, and remove your filthiness completely from you. (Ezekiel 22:13-15)

By having massive debt that they will not pay back, the people of the USA (as well as the UK) make a “dishonest profit” and they will be scattered among nations and countries–via “all the winds.”

Scattering to “all the winds” means that not all will end up in the same place.

Disaster will come to the USA.

The USA needs the Kingdom of God.
