Australian researchers accused of falsifying ‘global warming’ data

Does all the data in the world point to global warming? No. But now there is evidence that some of the claimed data that was supposed to support that was faked. A reader tipped me off to this:

DAVID Karoly’s ad hominem dismissal of a serious challenge to the official reconstruction of Australia’s temperature record is pathetic (“Amateurs challenging bureau climate figures’’, 26/8). Readers will appreciate that when observational data do not conform to theory, then some, without good reason, dismiss the data. …
At issue, as Jennifer Marohasy identified, is that for a number of locations where long records are available, the long-term trends in the original observations are significantly different from the trends of the reconstructed data. Whether there are continental-wide or regional trends is an important component of the global warming debate.

In challenging the validity of the BOM methodology, surely Dr Marohasy is entitled to respect from her peers; it is also behoven of the government to rationalise and publicly explain why the “official” reconstructed temperature trends depart so much from original observations available on the BOM website.

THE Bureau of Meteorology’s homogenisation of temperature records reminds me of an old statistician’s joke. If you put one foot in a bucket of iced water and the other on a red hot stove, on average you’ll be comfortable.

BY demanding that all criticism of climate alarmism be subjected to peer review, David Karoly implies that only those initiated into the scientific priesthood be allowed to speak and everyone else is dismissed as ignorant.

His case would be stronger if the initiated had not made so many alarmist predictions despite peer review. Good science should produce good predictions, yet two decades of bad peer-reviewed predictions tell us we are not dealing with good science.

It is increasingly clear that unexceptional minor climate change was blown out of proportion and a frantic scramble to protect reputations and funding is now under way.

Australian Bureau of Meteorology accused of Criminally Adjusted Global Warming

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has been caught red-handed manipulating temperature data to show “global warming” where none actually exists.

At Amberley, Queensland, for example, the data at a weather station showing 1 degree Celsius cooling per century was “homogenized” (adjusted) by the Bureau so that it instead showed a 2.5 degrees warming per century.

At Rutherglen, Victoria, a cooling trend of -0.35 degrees C per century was magically transformed at the stroke of an Australian meteorologist’s pen into a warming trend of 1.73 degrees C per century.

Last year, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology made headlines in the liberal media by claiming that 2013 was Australia’s hottest year on record. This prompted Australia’s alarmist-in-chief Tim Flannery – an English literature graduate who later went on to earn his scientific credentials with a PhD in palaeontology, digging up ancient kangaroo bones – to observe that global warming in Australia was “like climate change on steroids.”

But we now know, thanks to research by Australian scientist Jennifer Marohasy, that the hysteria this story generated was based on fabrications and lies.

Though the Bureau of Meteorology has insisted its data adjustments are “robust”, it has been unable to come up with a credible explanation as to why it translated real-world data showing a cooling trend into homogenized data showing a warming trend.

She wrote:

“Repetition is a propaganda technique. The deletion of information from records, and the use of exaggeration and half-truths, are others. The Bureau of Meteorology uses all these techniques, while wilfully ignoring evidence that contradicts its own propaganda.’’

This is a global problem. Earlier this year, Breitbart reported that similarly dishonest adjustments had been made to temperature records by NASA and NOAA. Similarly implicated are the UK temperature records of the Met Office Hadley Centre and at Phil “Climategate” Jones’s disgraced Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia.

One of the many disingenuous arguments used by climate alarmists against sceptics is mockingly to accuse them of being conspiracy theorists. “How could global warming possibly not be a problem when all the world’s temperature data sets from Australia to the US to the UK clearly show that it is? Are you seriously suggesting that so many different scientists and so many distinguished institutions from across the globe would collude in such a massive lie?” their argument runs.

While I do not wish to be highly involved in the debate about ‘global warming,’ I will state that scientists, experts, and other leaders are supposed to tell the truth. However, with the politicization of issues such as climate, the economy, and homosexuality in the 21st century, we are in a situation where one sometimes must have a certain skepticism with many beliefs that the mainstream purports as absolute fact.

The Bible clearly teaches:

8… all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)

As far as global warming goes, burning anything causes heat. Increasingly burning fuels of any sort will cause that. How much is needed to affect the planet and climate, as well as what the alternatives are, can be the subject of legitimate political debate–if those involved all tell the truth.

That being said, the Bible does teach that humans will be punished for destroying the earth and that a time of high heat is coming:

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory. (Revelation 16:8-9)

18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth (Revelation 11:18).

Humans were supposed to oversee, tend, and keep the earth (Genesis 1:28-30; 2:15), not destroy it.

But because humans will (Matthew 24:21-22), Jesus will come and the Kingdom of God will fix the problems.
