TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s supreme leader lashed out at Western countries as he led Friday prayers in Tehran for the first time in eight years, dismissing “American clowns” who he said pretend to support the Iranian nation but want to stick their “poisoned dagger” into its back.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei used his rare appearance at the weekly prayers to deliver a fiery address in which he insisted Iran would not bow to U.S. pressure after months of crushing sanctions and a series of recent crises — from the killing of a top Iranian general to the accidental shootdown of a Ukrainian passenger plane. …
Tensions between Iran and the United States have steadily escalated since Trump withdrew from the nuclear accord, which had imposed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions.
The U.S. has since imposed crippling sanctions on Iran, including its vital oil and gas industry, pushing the country into an economic crisis that has ignited several waves of sporadic, leaderless protests. Trump has openly encouraged the protesters — even tweeting in Farsi — hoping that the protests and the sanctions will bring about fundamental change in a longtime adversary.

Iran Admits They Have More Uranium Than Ever Before to “Threaten American Soldiers”

“Iran is now enriching more uranium that it was before agreeing to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Thursday. …
Rouhani warned on Wednesday that European soldiers in the Middle East “could be in danger” following the three nations’ triggering of the dispute mechanism.
Whether or not Iran actually has a functional nuclear bomb has been debated. But there is no doubt that it could put out what is called a”dirty bomb” with its enriched uranium.
Here is some information about dirty bombs:
A dirty bomb or radiological dispersal device (RDD) is a speculative radiological weapon that combines radioactive material with conventional explosives. The purpose of the weapon is to contaminate the area around the dispersal agent/conventional explosion with radioactive material, serving primarily as an area denial device against civilians. It is, however, not to be confused with a nuclear explosion, such as a fission bomb, which by releasing nuclear energy produces blast effects far in excess of what is achievable by the use of conventional explosives.
Though an RDD would be designed to disperse radioactive material over a large area, a bomb that uses conventional explosives and produces a blast wave would be far more lethal to people than the hazard posed by radioactive material that may be mixed with the explosive. At levels created from probable sources, not enough radiation would be present to cause severe illness or death. A test explosion and subsequent calculations done by the United States Department of Energy found that assuming nothing is done to clean up the affected area and everyone stays in the affected area for one year, the radiation exposure would be “fairly high” but not fatal. Recent analysis of the nuclear fallout from the Chernobyl disaster confirms this, showing that the effect on many people in the surrounding area, although not those in proximity, was almost negligible.
Since a dirty bomb is unlikely to cause many deaths by radiation exposure, many do not consider this to be a weapon of mass destruction. Its purpose would presumably be to create psychological, not physical, harm through ignorance, mass panic, and terror. For this reason dirty bombs are sometimes called “weapons of mass disruption”. Additionally, containment and decontamination of thousands of victims, as well as decontamination of the affected area might require considerable time and expense, rendering areas partly unusable and causing economic damage. Yes Iran may very well use one or more dirty bombs against the USA or Israel (cf. Isaiah 22:6-8).
Currently, the USA is hoping to get the Europeans to pressure Iran to accept a new nuclear deal. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has expressed interest in that:
Is European Unity on Iran Nuclear Deal Starting to Crack?
LONDON – There are signs that cracks are beginning to appear in European unity over its backing of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, or JCPOA, as allies come under growing pressure from the United States to abandon the agreement in the wake of Tehran’s downing of a passenger jet January 8.
The 2015 deal, signed by Iran, the U.S., Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China, lifted most sanctions on Iran in return for strict limits on nuclear fuel enrichment. U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal and reimposed sanctions in 2018, citing concerns about Iran’s missile program.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Tuesday that the nuclear agreement could be replaced with what he called “the Trump deal.”
“My point to our American friends is, look, somehow or other, we’ve got to stop the Iranians acquiring a nuclear weapon,” Johnson said in a BBC interview. “I think that’s what the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action agreement does, the JCPOA. But if we’re going to get rid of it, then we need a replacement. Let’s replace it with the Trump deal.”
Trump has said he wants a deal that curbs Iran’s missile program as well as its nuclear activities. However, Tehran has flatly rejected entering such negotiations.
Speaking in Parliament, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said a “broader deal” would tackle issues besides Iran’s nuclear program.
“First of all, it is Iran that is threatening the JCPOA with its systematic noncompliance. The prime minister fully supports the JCPOA and bringing Iran back into full compliance,” Raab told lawmakers Tuesday.
“In fact, it’s not just President Trump but also [French] President Emmanuel Macron who have argued for a broader deal with Iran, which first of all, addresses some of the defects in the JCPOA, which is not a perfect deal, but is, in our view, the best deal we’ve got on the table as of now. And secondly, would address the wider concerns that the U.S. and many other states, including the United Kingdom, have about Iran’s broader destabilizing activities in the region,” Raab added.

What Khamenei said about the US:
Thousands of people attended the Friday prayers, occasionally interrupting by chanting “Death to America!” and “God is greatest!” In the sermon, Khameni said:
The killing of General Qassem Soleimani was a “disgrace for the US administration,” and the US showed “its terrorist nature.”
[US President Donald] Trump is a “clown” who pretends to support Iranians but will “push a poisonous dagger” into their backs.
Iran’s ballistic missiles targeting US troops in Iraq had dealt a “blow to America’s image” as a superpower.
“That Iran has the power to slap the face of an arrogant power shows that God supports us.”
The “real punishment” would be forcing the US to withdraw from the Middle East.
The “cowardly” killing of Soleimani had removed the most effective commander in the fight against Islamic State.
Khamenei lashes out at Europe
The Iranian leader said Western countries were too weak to “bring Iranians to their knees.” He said that Britain, France and Germany, who tried this week to bring Iran back into compliance with the 2015 nuclear agreement, were “contemptible” governments and “servants” of the US.
“We should not forget that both Germany and France supported Iraq in the war against us,” Khamenei said, saying that the European countries had shown themselves to be unreliable partners. …
In his sermon then, he called Israel a “cancerous tumor” and promised to support anyone opposing the country. Khamenei had also warned against any US strikes on Iran over its nuclear program, saying the US would be destroyed “10 times over.”
Iran may get so desperate that it will lash out and overplay its hand.
While Iran can inflict damage to the USA and is prophesied to cause “great damage” to Jerusalem (Isaiah 22:6-8), it is NOT prophesied to destroy the USA, despite the Ayatollah’s comments and threats.
Furthermore, there are prophecies in Ezekiel and Jeremiah that point to destruction of at least parts of Iran and its allies.
On December 27, 2019, Iranian-connected individuals were believed to have killed an American contractor. On Sunday, December 29, 2019, US President Donald Trump ordered a strike in Iraq that killed dozens of Iranian supporting Iraqis. The next two days there were protests at the US Embassy in Iraq. Then on January 2, 2020, US President authorized a drone strike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, a top commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, the Baghdad International Airport.
