Cities and states on several continents reimpose restrictions as cases surge again …

After the toned-down celebrations to mark Bastille Day in France this morning, we are now hearing from President Emmanuel Macron who has given a rare television interview.

Macron says he would like to see face masks “mandatory in all [public] enclosed spaces”, and that this could come into effect on 1 August. …

Retailers and police must both play a role in enforcing the use of face coverings by shoppers in England, a cabinet minister has said after officers and businesses expressed concern over how people would be made to comply with the rules.

Ken Marsh, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, which represents rank-and-file officers in London, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme earlier that the law would be “impossible for enforcement” as he called for shopkeepers to “step up to the plate and take some responsibility”.

California closes indoor restaurants, movie theaters and all bars statewide as coronavirus cases rise

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday ordered all counties in the state to close all bars and the indoor operations of businesses including restaurants, movie theaters and museums, as Covid-19 cases continue to climb.

The businesses will be allowed to operate outdoors, if possible, except for bars, he said.

It was NOT reassuring to me to hear that California (where I am writing this from) decided to restrict personal freedoms again and reimpose more lockdowns (though I told my staff about two weeks ago, I expected this again). The local “good news” is that the county (San Luis Obispo) I live in has been exempted from some few of the restrictions, but those exemptions may not last. We will see.

The worldwide ramifications of governmental various steps, including lockdowns, taken are massive. Is this totally the “result of the virus” or the result of cowardice, political expediency, and fear?

A couple of months back, Dennis Praeger wrote the following:

The idea that the worldwide lockdown of virtually every country other than Sweden may have been an enormous mistake strikes many — including world leaders; most scientists, especially health officials, doctors and epidemiologists; those who work in major news media; opinion writers in those media; and the hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people who put their faith in these people — as so preposterous as to be immoral. But for those open to reading thoughts they may differ with, here is the case for why the worldwide lockdown is not only a mistake but also, possibly, the worst mistake the world has ever made. And for those intellectually challenged by the English language and/or logic, “mistake” and “evil” are not synonyms. The lockdown is a mistake; the Holocaust, slavery, communism, fascism, etc., were evils. Massive mistakes are made by arrogant fools; massive evils are committed by evil people.

The forcible prevention of Americans from doing anything except what politicians deem “essential” has led to the worst economy in American history since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It is panic and hysteria, not the coronavirus, that created this catastrophe. And the consequences in much of the world will be more horrible than in America. …

The lockdown is “possibly even more catastrophic (than the virus) in its outcome: the collapse of global food-supply systems and widespread human starvation” (italics added). That was published in the left-wing The Nation, which, nevertheless, enthusiastically supports lockdowns. …

And, of course, to smug editors and writers of The Atlantic, in article after repetitive article, the fault lies not with the lockdown but with President Donald Trump. The most popular article in The Atlantic this week is titled “The Rest of the World Is Laughing at Trump.” The elites can afford to laugh at whatever they want. Having worked a little bit with the US NIH, specifically the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (plus my studies and experiences with statistics and modeling), let me state that I was not in awe or fear from their pronouncements based on their predictive models.

As many now realize, their projections have often been wrong, their recommendations change, and much of what they say is short-sighted, political, and/or related to personal objectives.

My experience with local public health officials also has not instilled in me a sense of confidence in their competence as I have seen inappropriate agendas as being pushed, as opposed to proper public health measures, plus massive ignorance related to treatment.

Yes, as a scientist whose anti-viral proposals before the NIH utilizing herbs, glandulars, and nutrients was twice deemed by the US government scientists to have “significant scientific merit,” I have believed much has been mishandled in the COVID-19 matter.

I have opposed most business closures and church closures. The lockdown and other steps related to government actions blamed on COVID-19 is going to have severe ramifications, and some have begun to show up.

We are seeing more hunger, for example, in parts of Africa because of government policies.

The first lockdown was bad enough, now there are more.

Many government leaders and health officials either do not understand economics or do not seemingly care.

Yes, businesses around the world are struggling.

Yes, lockdowns are taking a toll. And the toll is not complete as we see more lockdowns and threats of them.

Government leaders around the world either like more government controls and/or are afraid not to have severe restrictions lest they look like they have not taken the coronavirus seriously enough. It is not just about public health.

Many around the world are living in fear.

Notice the following about start of the ride of the second horseman of the Apocalypse:

3 When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.” 4 Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword. (Revelation 6:3-4)

Notice that he “takes peace from the earth AND that people should kill one another.” Could it be that events in 2019, such as COVID-19 are consistent with taking “peace from the earth”?

Around the world people are AFRAID. The feeling of normalcy is gone for many around the globe. Consider that the travel restrictions, lockdowns, etc. are because of fear. The media and government officials are saying everything will not go back to how it was and that we need to accept what they have called “the new normal.” Speculatively, could this be related to the opening of the second seal?

Not since World War II have we seen anything affect the entire planet so much. I have had a kind of gnawing feeling that perhaps the second seal was opened in the Fall of 2019 or the late Spring or early Summer of 2020 or that it will be very soon.

The literal Greek in Revelation 6:4 for “peace” (εἰρήνην transliterated as eirēnēn) can be interpreted to mean taking away prosperity as well (see BibleHub.com). COVID-19 has, to a degree, done that as even the mainstream media has reported. People are afraid or at least uneasy to a degree we have not seen around the world anytime in the 21st century.

Barnes Notes on the Bible states:

The power given to him that sat on the horse: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. This would seem to indicate that the condition immediately preceding this was a condition of tranquility, and that this was now disturbed by some cause producing discord and bloodshed. This idea is confirmed by the original words – τὴν εἰρήνην tēn eirēnēn – “the peace”; that is, the previously existing peace. When peace in general is referred to, the word is used without the article: Matthew 10:34, “Think not that I am come to send peace – βαλεῖν εἰρήνην balein eirēnēn – upon the earth.”

So, this rider is not just a rider of war, but taking away THE peace. This is consistent with the “troubles” Jesus prophesied related to the beginning of sorrows in Mark 13:8.

Sorrows and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

Revelation 6:1-8 shows the opening of four seals and discusses the rides of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Each of which appears to be associated with aspects of the “beginning of sorrows” that Jesus mentions in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. What do each of the horsemen represent? Did the old Worldwide Church of God teach that these rides were still in the future in the late 21st century? Could any have began in the 21st century? Does the rider of the white horse represent Jesus or false religion? Are there ties to the interfaith and ecumenical movements? What might the bow the horseman has represent? Could this be a tie to Satan the Devil? What about the Beast and False Prophet? Has the “beginning of sorrows” started? Could the first seal be opened? Could COVID-19 have anything to do with the second seal? Has “the peace” been taken from the earth? Could the rider of the red horse have begun with an opening of the second seal? What about riots, looting wars, and rumors of war? Are food inflation, food shortages, and famines associated with the opening of the third seal and rider of the black horse of famine? Could human actions such as evolution teachings, genetically-modified crops, and viral research be factors in the rides of the four horsemen? Is more than death related to pestilences associated with the rider of the pale horse, the fourth seal? Why might this be a factor in 666? Will most people fail to recognize the rides of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse until it is too late to take action? What about the fifth seal and the start of the Great Tribulation? Are there problems with Roman and Eastern Orthodox prophecies concerning the end and the Great Monarch? What about prophecies related to Noah, the King of the North, Armageddon, and Antichrist? Anyway, lockdowns are not the answer.

The world needs to turn to God and seek first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).

Instead of telling people to support their innate immune system–which is something that I believe government and health officials should be doing–promoting fear has been the apparent policy of choice.

COVID-19 policies have wounded the economies of most nations around the world.

The lockdown is also showing governments the ease that they can impose totalitarian controls. Some believe that was part of the reason behind the lockdowns.

The Bible shows that Europe will eventually reorganize and accept totalitarianism (Revelation 17:12-13) and what it will end up with will not be good. The lockdowns are sort of a trial run.

But the good news is that ultimately, Jesus will return and establish the Kingdom of God.
