In the past week a heavily mutated Covid variant has been identified, rapidly labelled a “variant of concern” by the World Health Organization and named Omicron. …
What we know is Omicron has mutations that theoretically help it to spread more quickly and there is mounting evidence of that happening in South Africa.
It also has mutations that theoretically make vaccines less effective and the World Health Organization says there is a higher risk of reinfection than with other variants. …
The government’s response is to test everyone coming in to the UK, isolate all Omicron contacts, ramp up boosting and bring back compulsory face masks in some public places.
Let’s be clear – that will not stop more Omicron cases arriving or circulating. It’s already arrived. If a virus is good at spreading then eventually it will slip through.

The BBC author is right that “If a virus is good at spreading then eventually it will slip through” lockdowns, tests, and many other “measures” governments have put in place.

US President Joe Biden said on 2/19/21 that the USA may NOT “return to normal” in 2021 because of vaccine and mutation issues. Is there another approach? Would it make sense to improve nutrition to strengthen the immune system and to help people with COVID-19? What about zinc, selenium, vitamin C, and vitamin D? What about avoiding unclean meats? What about eating more fruits and vegetables and items such as pumpkin seeds and Brazil nuts? What about eating bovine glandulars? What about herbs? Could fasting help? What about exercise and sunlight? What about masks, lockdowns, junk food, obesity, and weight gain? Dr. Thiel, who possesses a US regionally accredited PhD. in nutrition science from the Union Institute and University, a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California, and a natural scientist license from the State of Alabama, explains why people may wish to consider approaches for their immune system. One way or another, the majority of Americans will survive COVID-19.
It remains to be seen, however, whether our freedoms will survive the tyranny of the government’s heavy-handed response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Indeed, now that the government has gotten a taste for flexing its police state powers by way of a bevy of lockdowns, mandates, restrictions, contact tracing programs, heightened surveillance, censorship, overcriminalization, etc., we may all be long-haulers, suffering under the weight of long-term COVID-19 afflictions.
Instead of dealing with the headaches, fatigue and neurological aftereffects of the virus, however, “we the people” may well find ourselves burdened with a Nanny State inclined to use its draconian pandemic powers to protect us from ourselves.
Therein lies the danger of the government’s growing addiction to power.
What started out a year ago as an apparent effort to prevent a novel coronavirus from sickening the nation (and the world) has become yet another means by which world governments (including our own) can expand their powers, abuse their authority, and further oppress their constituents.

The short answer to the headline question is no.
Now, the focus of the lockdown article was the USA.
Yet, I found the reference to the idea of bringing “the beast out of the shadows” of interest as that is some of what we have seen with the totalitarian governmental actions around the world.
As annoying as the lockdowns have been in the USA, they have been worse in Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.
That being said, CCOG deacon Richard Close sent the following to me in an email today:
De 28:21 The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.all of these new variant’s are beginning to look like this pestilence is in the process of “CLEAVING” to us.
Yes, the USA and its British-descended allies have been weakened by COVID matters and will get weaker. Deuteronomy 28:21 has applicability here.
Furthermore, COVID issues, protests, and various battles in places around the world could be a factor in ‘apocalyptic’ matters such as the following:
3 When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.” 4 Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword. (Revelation 6:3-4)
The literal Greek here for “peace” (εἰρήνην transliterated as eirēnēn) in Revelation 6 can be interpreted to mean taking away prosperity as well (see BibleHub.com). COVID-19 has, to a degree, done that. People are afraid or at least uneasy to a degree we have not seen around the world anytime in the 21st century.
Barnes Notes on the Bible states:
The power given to him that sat on the horse: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. This would seem to indicate that the condition immediately preceding this was a condition of tranquility, and that this was now disturbed by some cause producing discord and bloodshed. This idea is confirmed by the original words – τὴν εἰρήνην tēn eirēnēn – “the peace”; that is, the previously existing peace. When peace in general is referred to, the word is used without the article: Matthew 10:34, “Think not that I am come to send peace – βαλεῖν εἰρήνην balein eirēnēn – upon the earth.”
So, this rider is not just a rider of war, but taking away THE peace.
It is NOT constant physical warfare everywhere, though physical violence and warfare (consistent with Jesus’ words in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21) will also occur.
But things will get worse.
And now that we have officially gotten to COVID variant ‘omicron,’ we have seen fear kicked up over and over again in the past nearly two years.
By the way, instead of calling it COVID-19, the Prime Minister of Belgium is calling that COVID-21 as Summit News has reported:

The Prime Minister of Belgium says the new mutant variant of coronavirus is so potentially devastating that it should be called ‘COVID-21’.
Yes, really.
Alexander De Croo made the comments during a press conference after international markets plummeted in response to the news that the ‘Nu’ variant of the virus had been discovered in Botswana and spread across South Africa.
“You could say that this is Covid-21 instead of Covid-19: it is three times more infectious than the original virus,” said De Croo.
His remarks came in the aftermath of sustained media panic over the new mutation and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) describing the variant as “the worst one we’ve seen so far.”

Note: Instead of identifying it as “Nu” the term “Omicron” was chosen instead later, reportedly because “Nu” sounded too much like “new.”
As far as Europe goes, after one or more crises, Europe will reorganize and end up being totalitarian:
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:12-14)
17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:171-18)
Notice that the result of the prophesied reorganization is that the Beast will rise up and be in power.
Now, does Bible prophecy also point to the rise of this totalitarian Beast after the start of some type of crisis and pandemic?
Yes.
Notice the following from the Book of Revelation:
7 When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” 8 So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.
9 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed. (Revelation 6:7-11)
The fourth seal will involve death and a pandemic MUCH MORE DEADLY THAN COVID-19. This will set the stage for the persecuting Beast power to rise up (Revelation 13:1-10) just before the time the fifth seal is opened up.

What seal represents the start of the Great Tribulation? Which Christians did Jesus promise to protect from the coming “hour of trial”?

Well, you might say if the Beast is European what about the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK?
The Beast will destroy the USA per Daniel 11:39. The British-descended lands will also be taken over.
Understand that the Anglo-American nations need repentance in order to delay what is coming (cf. Daniel 4:26).
However, the Bible points to them not sufficiently doing so:
5 …But the Assyrian shall be his king, Because they refused to repent. (Hosea 11:5b)
The end of the current world order is coming soon.
Perhaps by 2028.
Pray for the Kingdom of God to come (Matthew 6:10).
Yet, expect more troubles and tribulation during this decade (Mark 13:8-20), before Jesus returns.
