The list of Democrats battling to oppose U.S. President Donald Trump in the 2020 election grew again Tuesday with Senator Bernie Sanders announcing he is joining the race.
Sanders tried to win the Democratic Party’s nomination in 2016, but lost to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The 77-year-old gained a strong following with plans to make college tuition free and for the government to greatly expand its role in providing health care to Americans.
Sanders joins an already crowded field of Democrats who have announced their candidacy with still about a year before the 2020 primary elections begin.
Those candidates include fellow Senators Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar, Kristen Gillibrand and Kamala Harris.
The senator from the northeastern state of Vermont announced his candidacy in an early morning email to supporters, asking for 1 million people to register to help launch a grassroots movement to counter special interests.
Sanders, a frequent critic of Trump, said in his email Trump was “the most dangerous president in modern American history.” Sanders added: “We are running against a president who is a pathological liar, a fraud, a racist, a sexist, a xenophobe and someone who is undermining American democracy as he leads us in an authoritarian direction.”
Sanders has been ranked among the leaders in opinion polls of prospective 2020 candidates, but he faces challenges from a large pool of other progressives who advocate for many of the same issues that he brought into the party’s mainstream.
The crowded field of liberals could make it harder for Sanders to engender the same level of ardent support he received during his 2016 campaign. “We’re gonna win,” Sanders told CBS.
He said he was going to launch “what I think is unprecedented in modern American history”: a grassroots movement “to lay the groundwork for transforming the economic and political life of this country.”
Sanders described his new White House bid as a “continuation of what we did in 2016,” noting that policies he advocated for then are now embraced by the Democratic Party.
“You know what’s happened in over three years?” he said. “All of these ideas and many more are now part of the political mainstream.” …
Sanders also faces different pressures in the #MeToo era. Some of his male staffers and supporters in 2016 were described as “Bernie bros” for their treatment of women.
In the run-up to Sanders’ 2020 announcement, persistent allegations emerged of sexual harassment of women by male staffers during his 2016 campaign. Politico and The New York Times reported several allegations of unwanted sexual advances and pay inequity.
In an interview with CNN after the initial allegations surfaced, Sanders apologized but also noted he was “a little busy running around the country trying to make the case.”
As additional allegations emerged, he offered a more unequivocal apology.

Bernie Sanders announced his previous candidacy for US president on April 30, 2015 (see Bernie Sanders enters the presidential race).
He did very well in the last campaign cycle and could have won if the party apparatus was not strongly pushing Hillary Clinton (who won the Democratic nomination, but lost the electoral college vote to Donald Trump).
Anyway, it seems that more candidates are announcing earlier in the cycle this time–and several Democratic candidates have adopted some of his political positions.
As far as Bernie Sanders goes, he is a social liberal, has been supporting the homosexual agenda for decades and also supports the pro-abortion and pro-marijuana agendas.
As a Democratic Socialist, he does not seem to see how Venezuela has fared trying to go down that route.
None of the announced candidates for the US presidency (from any political party) will fix the moral problems of that nation. And many, such as Bernie Sanders, have already embraced moral positions in direct opposition to the Bible.
The 2020 presidential election cycle is clearly featuring people who are against many aspects of biblical morality.
The Bible itself warns that if the children of Israel sinned and did not repent, the following would happen:
12 As for My people … Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed. (Isaiah 9:16)
It seems like all who are potentially major candidates for the 2020 presidential election advocate and promote several positions which are not biblically good.
The Apostle Paul warned:
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
Many of those statements apply to those who wish to win the 2020 US Presidential election (from whatever political party).

Various politicians have announced their intentions to run for the office of the President of the United States in 2020. ‘Politico’ ran an article about the ‘sorry state’ of various candidates. Some candidates have felt the need to apologize for previous statements in support of biblical marriage and the need to endorse items of the LGBTQ agenda. Many also support abortion and other anti-biblical actions. Are these ‘American values’? Should the English language be changed to eliminate male/female and singular pronouns? Does the Bible warn about female leaders? Does the Bible warn about leaders that lead people to err? What about condoning sexual immortality? Might Western civilzation collapse by 2032?

The fall of Rome led to a separatist trend with the breakup of Europe. Even when Rome fell, that barbarians were imitating Roman traditions for a while. They began to issue coins in the name of the East Emperor just to try to pretend that they were the rulers of the West. They wanted to conquer Rome to be Roman. We have the invasion of refugees in Europe and it has begun from South America into the USA which is why Trump is even fighting for a Wall. … what the computer is showing is the rise in civil unrest and the risk of war. Just look at what took place at the State of the Union – there is no UNION. This nonsense the Democrats have engaged in has fired the first shot that will be heard around the world. No, political changes hinted of by Martin Armstrong will not prevent the end of the Western world as we know it.
Europe will, despite its problems, unite. It will reorganize and even fight against Jesus:
41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. 44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Western civilization as we have seen it will end and Jesus will win.

What about the USA?
It will be gone about 3 1/2 years before Europe is gone (cf. Daniel 11:39-45; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).
The USA needs national repentance, otherwise it is doomed. It is almost impossible to believe that the next USA president would call for meaningful repentance before the USA is hit with more massive problems. The USA needs the return of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
