The Islamic group Boko Haram admits to a mass slaughter:
January 21, 2015
Nigerian militant group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for mass killings in the city of Baga and is promising further attacks.
A video posted online Wednesday shows the Islamist group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, declaring “We carried out the Baga massacre, and we are going to do more.”
Fighters are seen showing off what appear to be thousands of rifles, along with grenades, rocket launchers, machine guns and stacked boxes of ammunition.
Shekau says the arms were captured from Baga, where the group seized a military base from Nigerian soldiers on January 3, then proceeded to burn down thousands of homes. Estimates of the death toll in Baga range from 150 to 2,000.
Shekau warns that “more deaths are coming,” and also issues threats against the presidents of Cameroon and Chad.
Last week, Chad sent thousands of troops into Cameroon to help that country fight Boko Haram fighters who have attacked villages in Cameroon’s far north. Cameroon’s government said Wednesday that troops have rescued a German citizen who Boko Haram kidnapped last July. …
The group, which says it wants to impose Islamic law, now controls Baga and much of Borno state. http://www.voanews.com/content/boko-haram-claims-baga-massacre-vows-more-attacks/2607333.html
I had heard about this slaughter and wanted additional confirmation before reporting about it here.
The goal of these terrorists is to have a massive Islamic caliphate–and Boko Haram has already claimed it is/has a caliphate. Essentially a type of Islamic empire. They often oppose not only non-Muslims, but also Muslims that will not support their views of Islam.
The Bible does tell of the rise of a power that resembles an Islamic caliphate called the King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:2-8; see also The Prophesied ‘Islamic’ Confederation).
This ‘king of the south’ has territories in at least North Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey per Daniel 11:40-43.
The lands mentioned in the Bible for such a confederation do not seem to extend down as far as Nigeria, although the inclusion of “Cushites” in a couple of scriptures (including Daniel 11:43) suggest that it will not only be Arabs and Turks in the confederation, but also some black Africans. The Bible also reveals it will not end well for those in the final confederation (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:2-8; see also The Prophesied ‘Islamic’ Confederation).
Terrorism was prophesied in the Bible (Leviticus 26:14-17; Deuteronomy 32:25; Ezekiel 21:12; Psalms 73:12,19; Proverbs 1:25-27) and it is terrible that such slaughter is occurring anywhere, including the horrors that Boko Haram has caused many in Africa.
Terrorists should repent. What the Islamic ones seem to want will not turn out well for them according to the Bible (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:2-8).
The world needs the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the millennial kingdom. My prayers go out to those affected by terrorist groups.
