‘Brexit, Macron and Russia: Will 2020 be as Difficult for EU as 2019 Was?’
CNN reported the following:
Brexit was a distraction. Now Europe is facing … 2020
London (CNN)Brexit has been a massive headache ever since the UK voted to leave in 2016. It took two prime ministers, 1274 days, three deadline extensions and two general elections for an exit deal finally to be deemed acceptable by the British Parliament.
But it also sucked up oxygen in Brussels, as the EU’s diplomatic energy fixated on the single issue of having a country leave its bloc.
In that time, the EU was forced to pay less attention to other problems among its member states. Problems that present a far greater long-term threat to the European project than Brexit ever could.
For the EU is being undermined by nations within its ranks ignoring the rule of EU law …
Right now, there are several delinquent states causing havoc in Brussels. About 340 miles south of Warsaw, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban has spent the past decade presiding over assaults on his nation’s courts, academic institutions, central bank and press.
The EU has triggered Article 7 procedures against both Hungary and Poland, but both moves led nowhere.
In Malta, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has been hounded with calls to resign for his government’s alleged involvement in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, a journalist who was investigating political corruption. Earlier this week, Members of the European Parliament voted by 581 to 26 in favor of a resolution to start the Article 7 process on Malta. Muscat says he will leave office next month, but denies all allegations of wrongdoing. …
“What might bring the EU to an end? It won’t be a meeting of EU member states, saying let’s end this. But what might start its collapse is some states saying, we don’t really accept the primacy of EU law anymore,” says Charles Crawford, a former British ambassador to Poland. “Once nation states start challenging the legal order, that is desperately serious for the EU.”
The paradox at the heart of the EU is that it insists all states play by the same rules while also being reluctant to interfere in the domestic politics of any members. In some respects, the EU is little more than an agreement between 28 countries to not cheat the system.
As Europe enters 2020, it needs to address problems it has been ignoring since 2016. …

2019 has been a difficult year for the European Union (EU) and it appears 2020 will be no different with many challenges and issues remaining unresolved after a turbulent year. The most obvious issue is the lingering Brexit saga that was not achieved and questions remain whether it is likely to be achieved by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson with the looming January 31 deadline. …
Another worrisome issue for the EU would be the inevitable strengthening of commercial and diplomatic ties between the UK and their former colony, the United States. It is expected the British and Americans will intensify their relations against Russia and China.
In this context, only French President Emmanuel Macron seems to want to move forward with a New European Order. Macron has become a revitaliser in empowering the EU and restoring relations with Moscow, going so far as to say that Europe reaches all the way to the Russian Asian-Pacific port of Vladivostok. … Macron himself explained that although he has a clear vision for improving ties with Russia, this is being resisted by the so-called French “deep state,” as he calls it. Macron has unapologetically called for finding a resolution for Donbass and said that resolution of Syrian crisis needs Russian participation. Macron will continue into 2020 with efforts to improve relations with Moscow, despite domestic and foreign pressures.
It cannot be overlooked that Macron seeks to prevent Moscow from strengthening its ties with Beijing. This very issue demonstrates that the EU are not consistent with their China policy. …
However, the roadblocks with Russia and China are clear for the EU. What they expect with the U.S., especially in a post-Brexit Europe, remains uncertain. This is coupled with the unpredictability of Donald Trump. 12/24/19 http://infobrics.org/post/30047/
Yes, the EU has problems.
As far as Donald Trump goes, he has basically gone on record as wanting to break up the European Union. The EU is larger than the USA, and it is easier to bully powers that are smaller.
So, Donald Trump seems to hope that if he can divide the EU nations, it makes it easier for him to get the type of trade deals he hopes to get for the USA. Look for Donald Trump to take anti-EU actions. Look for Donald Trump to take anti-EU trade actions.
Brexit, itself, is also going to be tough on the EU.
While the official EU position seems to be that the UK departure will be hurt more than the EU itself (see ‘Cliff-edge Brexit will hurt UK more than EU, says Von der Leyen’), this does not mean that the EU will not be hurt.
The UK was a net PAYER into the EU. No new nation currently interested in joining the EU is expected to pay more into the EU than it hopes to receive back.
Furthermore, trade talks with the USA may make the UK’s Brexit decision look better to certain nations in the EU that wonder about departing themselves.
As far as Russia goes, the European Union is not too worried about working with Russia. The Nord Stream 2 project is massive proof of that.
Furthermore, the EU uses Russia as a reason it needs its own army, independent of the USA. And partially because of that and disdain for USA President Donald Trump, it was able to put together a pan-European military organization called PESCO less than a year after Donald Trump took office.

PESCO and a Great European Army In November 2018, French President Macron called for a “true European army” because of China, Russia, and the USA. Some others in Europe have echoed that sentiment. On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted “a very strong Europe.” Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as “my friend” and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe’s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with “a great army”? Has Donald Trump’s announcement to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say that Europe must rebel against the USA? Is the idea of a United States of Europe and a European army a “paranoid fantasy” or a biblical reality? Will the USA regret Europe becoming a stronger military power? Will the USA be betrayed by “friends” such as its continental European allies? Does the Bible teach any or all of this? As far as Europe’s future goes, it will have unity issues as foretold in scripture.
The Bible shows that Europe will have problems, reorganize (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?), and the final Beast of Revelation will rise up:
41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)
12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)
It will likely be a combination of Islamic immigration, economic, and religious issues to trigger this reorganization.
Brexit and US policies will be factors.
Now notice some of what the reorganized European power (the King of the North of Daniel 11) will do:
23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24)
39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. 40 “At the time of the end king of the North … (Daniel 11:39-40)
Notice that this leader will do what others had not done. Adolf Hitler, for a recent example, was NOT able to plunder the riches of the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, or New Zealand.
But this final European leader will. And to tie this in with the destruction of the mighty in Daniel 8:2-5, notice that he will “devise his plans against the strongholds” (Daniel 11:24) and defeat the power with “the strongest fortresses” (Daniel 11:39), which is the USA along with its British-descended allies (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).
That being said, that will NOT happen in 2020.
Europe will have problems in 2020.
But some of those problems will help set the stage for its reorganization as well as its reemergence as the Beast power of Revelation 13.

Forbes’ Brexit Monster is the Beast of Revelation Various ones have been properly convinced that there is a plan for a European superstate.
