Britain, ECB expansion, and the future of EU Battlegroups

The European Central Bank (ECB) finally got Britain to sign off on an expansion of the EU’s financial powers:

LUXEMBOURG — The European Union on Tuesday took another step to shore up its battered banking sector after Britain agreed to new rules placing many of the largest lenders in the euro area under the supervision of the European Central Bank.

The British decision, which was announced at a monthly meeting of the bloc’s finance ministers here, clears the way for the E.C.B. to take over as the single supervisor late next year. Britain is not a member of the euro zone and its banks will not fall under the control of the central bank, which is expected to have direct oversight of about 130 of the largest financial institutions in countries using the single currency by the end of 2014. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/16/business/international/eu-takes-final-step-on-unified-bank-regulation.html

Notice that Britain itself is not really part of the above, but did agree to the expansion of power by the ECB.

The Bible teaches that a European power will control much of the world’s economy and for a time, many will benefit from it, but that those economic benefits will not last:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18)

9 “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, 10 standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’

11 “And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore: 12 merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble; 13 and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men. 14 The fruit that your soul longed for has gone from you, and all the things which are rich and splendid have gone from you, and you shall find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, 16 and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! 17 For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.’ Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance 18 and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like this great city?’

19 “They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! For in one hour she is made desolate.’

20 “Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!” (Revelation 18:9-20)

This Babylonian Beast power will be a successful military one (Revelation 13:4)–it will be so successful that it will take over the country with the “strongest fortresses” according to Daniel 11:39 (in the 21st century, is that not now the USA?). It will be a European power (see also the video: Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).

Europe itself is not quite sure how to handle its military. And that too was prophesied (Isaiah 10:7), but the Bible also teaches that the final European power will end up using that power against “an hypocritical nation” (Isaiah 5-11, KJV).

The Future Of EU Battlegroups Addressed In London

According to the Lithuanian Minister of National Defence, the possibilities of use of Battlegroups in specific crisis situation, should be regularly engaged at the defence ministers’ level. This could help in building consensus in advance, identifying and dealing with national caveats as well as tailoring the Battlegroups to the specific deployments.The Minister believes that the usability of the Battlegroups is closely connected to the necessity to enhance training, standardisation and certification and improvement of the advance planning of the Battlegroups…

The current Battlegroup on standby is UK-led and composed of Dutch, Latvian, Lithuanian, Swedish and UK troops. Lithuania has contributed with a maneuver unit which is composed of 120 troops from the Lithuanian King Mindaugas Motorised Infantry Battalion along with Lithuanian officers posted to EU Battlegroups Headquarters.

The EU Battlegroup is a high-readiness, rapidly deployable and multinational force capable of carrying out operations individually or acting as a part of the initial stage of a larger operation. A group is usually 2, 000 strong and is composed of military units assigned by EU member states for six-month standby periods on a voluntary rotational basis.

So, the European Union has Battlegroups and it is planning on how to use them.

According to biblical prophecy, some of those groups likely will be used against the USA and some of its allies (Daniel 11:39) as well as against Arab forces (Daniel 11:40-43). Having the Battlegroup in Britain mainly composed of non-British troops could prove problematic to the UK in the future. But that probably will not be officially discussed in the meetings.

While the Bible does show that the Europeans will have at least two major reorganizations in order for the final King of the North to attain power, steps for the end time Babylonian power to rise up are being taken as various news events confirm.
