Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich: Could the Coronavirus be the End of the European Union?

A couple of weeks ago, the Washington Post had the following headline:
European leaders warn coronavirus could lead to the breakup of their union
The article had comments from political leaders.
Well, what about any religious ones?
The Roman Catholic Crux reported the following:

ROME – In a provocative reflection on the coronavirus and Europe, Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich said aloud what many at this moment are likely thinking: With the European Union in disarray over the migration crisis and weakened by the withdrawal of the United Kingdom, could the global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic be the tipping point signaling the end is near?
Speaking of the global impact the coronavirus is having and the need for solidarity with those who will and are suffering in the economic fallout, Hollerich, … said “The largest solidarity network we can imagine is the European Union. Yet the EU seems paralyzed.”
In Europe, “the return to national interests seems obvious to most member countries,” he said; then, turning to the current back and forth over aid packages for EU member states most heavily impacted by COVID-19, he said that so far, “The crisis seems to favor the individualism of nations.” …

Before going further, notice the following prophecy about Europe:

Yes, Europe has a problem with unity as the nations do not naturally adhere to each other. They have different interests, different cultures, and different languages.
Even the Euro is believed to be at risk:

Coronavirus: The Looming Collapse of Europe’s Single Currency

As the coronavirus unleashes economic shockwaves across Europe, the European single currency, the most visible symbol of European unification, is facing collapse.
“All countries in Europe are being hit by the epidemic — Italy and Spain particularly hard. All countries, including Germany, must therefore be able to make the necessary health expenditures and take measures to bridge the economic crisis. This is only possible through additional government debt, and this must be guaranteed to prevent another euro crisis. If the debt loads of Italy and Spain rise sharply, they will be pushed into budget cuts, thus economic, social and political crises, which would ultimately lead to a sovereign debt crisis and a collapse of the euro and the EU. While the Bible does not specify whether or not the Euro will continue to exist, it does say that the coming dictator will value and acquire gold (Daniel 11:38-43; watch also Germany, Gold, and the US Dollar).
Yes, the Euro is at risk. Yes, there is a divide in Europe. Many in Europe are fearful of the economic consequences of COVID-19.
Getting back to Cardinal Hollerich, notice the following:

Ideals like siding with the World Health Organization against the US on the coronavirus? Siding with the Vatican on climate change against the US? Ideals of European superiority?
Despite unity issues, a European confederation will be around for a time, eventually be destroyed by God, and that is a certain prophecy.
But, does that mean that the ‘European Union’ will survive as it is until God destroys it?
No.
Cardinal Hollerich is essentially calling for a reorganization of Europe.
And the New Testament shows that Europe will reorganize (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?), rise up, and ultimately be destroyed itself:
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:12-14, NKJV throughout unless otherwise noted)
This reorganization will change Europe!
The EU will NOT function as it has.

COVID-19 is helping show all that Europe will have to reorganize and that totalitarian measures by governments will be tolerated!

Yes, fear. Fear of disease, fear from economic problems, and fear that they cannot depend on the USA for defense.
Consider the following:

Do autocratic states have an advantage over democratic ones when it comes to taking action quickly and dealing with pandemics like the coronavirus? And what will the impact of COVID-19 be on human rights in the eventual post-pandemic era? Austrian democracy researcher Tamara Ehs is focusing on precisely these questions …
The hour of crisis, according to Ehs, could also become the authoritarian’s finest hour. She encourages vigilance to ensure that democracies do not suffer lasting damages. It is not that democracies are going to turn into autocracies overnight. “Rather, I see with concern that citizens are in fear. That will happen.
Europe will, one day, no longer have the pretense of a democracy but will become a fierce dictatorship (cf. Deuteronomy 28:49-50; Revelation 13; Daniel 7:25).
But how since it is so dis-unified?
Jen-Claude Hollerich, who was made a cardinal by Pope Francis last year, mentioned that “ideals” were needed.
By this, he means Catholic ideals.
Now see the following prediction from 1948:
At the psychological time, the pope will step in … Thru this political movement, he will UNIFY … nations in Europe. It will be a “The UNITED STATES OF EUROPE,” but that probably will never become its official name. (Armstrong HW. Now It Can Be Told…The Plain Truth, December 1948, pp. 2,5).
Yes, it will take religious involvement.
In 1965, the late Herbert W. Armstrong wrote:

There is a definite German “Kultur! There is a French culture that is in many respects quite different. Then there is a still different Italian culture, a Spanish culture, a Scandinavian culture, a Swiss culture–and all are different! European nations speak different languages, have different aspirations, different customs, different traditions. Europe is often called a “crazy-quilt” of nations.
HOW, THEN, CAN THEY AGREE TOGETHER AND UNITE? For years The PLAIN TRUTH has said these nations are going to have to realize their inability to unite themselves politically-to choose a common political-military Leader that all can trust. They are going to finally face the fact they must look to a Supreme Authority they can all trust! That Supreme Authority cannot be a politician, or a general (De Gaulle is both). So, he felt that while they needed a political-military leader, some type of religious leader was needed to unify Europeans.
The Bible shows that a false prophet will arise (Revelation 16:13). He will support the European Beast and is called the beast coming up from the earth:
11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. (Revelation 13:11-15)
This religious leader will be a type of anti-pope (see also Catholic Prophecies: Do They Mirror, Highlight, or Contradict Biblical Prophecies?) and will one day support the destruction of the Church of Rome (cf. Revelation 17:15-18).
Cardinal Hollerich also said something else about Europe as Crux reported:

Notice the following biblical prophecy from the New Jerusalem Bible, a Roman Catholic translation:
1 Then I saw a beast emerge from the sea: it had seven heads and ten horns, with a coronet on each of its ten horns, and its heads were marked with blasphemous titles.
2 I saw that the beast was like a leopard, with paws like a bear and a mouth like a lion; the dragon had handed over to it his own power and his throne and his immense authority.
3 I saw that one of its heads seemed to have had a fatal wound but that this deadly injury had healed and the whole world had marvelled and followed the beast. (Revelation 13:1-3)
The “sea” is the Mediterranean Sea (Numbers 34:6-7; Joshua 1:4; 9:1; 23:4; Ezekiel 47:13-16; Daniel 7:2-8)–hence this is a European leader.
Cardinal Hollerich warned of a fatal wound.
Well, the world has long felt that Europe has been fatally wounded–but the Bible says it will rise up, the world will marvel, and follow the totalitarian European Beast!
Yes, Europe will reorganize. Pestilence will be a factor. False religion will be a factor.
What it ends up with will be disastrous from many nations (Daniel 11:39-43) as well as itself (Daniel 2:44, 11:44-45).
