China says it will not sit on its hands forever related to the protesting in Hong Kong:

China’s ambassador to the U.K. said Thursday the Beijing government will not “sit on its hands” if the situation in Hong Kong continues to deteriorate after more than two months of near-daily street protests.
Liu Xiaoming said extremists masquerading as pro-democracy activists are dragging Hong Kong “down a dangerous road.” He told a news conference in London that if unrest becomes “uncontrollable . the central government would not sit on its hands and watch.”
“We have enough solutions and enough power within the limit of the Basic Law to quell any unrest swiftly,” he said, referring to Hong Kong’s mini-constitution adopted after the former British colony was handed over to China in 1997. “We hope this will end in an orderly way. In the meantime we are fully prepared for the worst.”
Satellite photos show what appear to be armored personnel carriers and other vehicles belonging to the China’s paramilitary People’s Armed Police parked in a sports complex in the city of Shenzhen, across the border in Hong Kong, in what some have interpreted as a threat from Beijing to use increased force against protesters.
China’s Defense Ministry has pointed to a legal provision that would allow Hong Kong-based People’s Liberation Army troops to be deployed for “public order maintenance” at the request of the city government. The troops, called the Hong Kong Garrison, released a promotional video earlier this month that showed soldiers partaking in a “riot drill” in which they fired tear gas and water cannons at people who appeared to be protesters. …
This week’s clashes highlighted the hardening positions of pro-democracy protesters and the authorities, which show no sign of abating as long as the government continues to refuse calls for dialogue. Along with scrapping the extradition legislation, under which criminal suspects could be tried in mainland China, where critics say they could face torture and unfair justice, protesters are demanding electoral reforms and an investigation into alleged police abuses, with some calling also for the resignation of Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
That is also having an effect on what is already a difficult economic situation for the financial services and export hub, with the forecast for economic growth for the year downgraded from 1% to zero, city Financial Secretary Paul Chan announced Thursday.

Trump Offers ‘Personal Meeting’ with Chinese Counterpart Over Hong Kong Crisis

U.S. President Donald Trump says a trade agreement with China could be delayed until it reaches a humane resolution with Hong Kong’s pro-democracy demonstrators, even suggesting he could personally broker an agreement between Beijing and the dissidents.
Trump went on Twitter late Wednesday night to boast about his administration’s upper hand against Beijing in the ongoing negotiations to end the two countries’ trade war. After writing that “thousands of companies” are leaving China, the president said “Of course China wants to make a deal. Let them deal humanely with Hong Kong first!”
Trump then said Xi Jingping, his Chinese counterpart, “very much has the respect of his people,” and that he had ” ZERO doubt that if President Xi wants to quickly and humanely solve the Hong Kong problem, he can do it. Personal meeting?”
The president’s tweets were his most extensive about the crisis in the Chinese territory since the demonstrations broke out 10 weeks ago. In comments to reporters Tuesday, Trump, who last week took a hands-off stance on the protests, said the Hong Kong situation “is a very tough situation, very tough. We’ll see what happens, but I’m sure it will work out.” He expressed the hope that no one would get hurt and “for liberty.”
The situation took an ominous turn Thursday, with reporters from both Reuters and AFP (Agence France-Presse) observing hundreds of members of China’s People’s Armed Police conducting exercises in a sports stadium in the southern city of Shenzhen, which sits across the border from Hong Kong. Dozens of trucks, armored personnel carriers and other military vehicles were spotted outside the stadium.
The deployment of the PAP forces confirms earlier reports published by Chinese state-run media claiming the forces was already assembling in Shenzhen. …

China does not like these protests and issued other warnings recently (see China issues threat to Hong Kong protesters). China will take military action if it deems it necessary.
Hong Kong was part of the UK, but since 1997 is officially part of China. But Hong Kong also enjoys a special separative status a treaty guarantees until 2047:
In the Joint Declaration, the People’s Republic of China Government stated that it had decided to resume the exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong (including Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories) with effect from 1 July 1997 and the United Kingdom Government declared that it would restore Hong Kong to the PRC with effect from 1 July 1997. In the document, the People’s Republic of China Government also declared its basic policies regarding Hong Kong.
In accordance with the “One country, two systems” principle agreed between the United Kingdom and the People’s Republic of China, the socialist system of the People’s Republic of China would not be practised in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and Hong Kong’s previous capitalist system and its way of life would remain unchanged for a period of 50 years. So, ‘legally,’ Hong Kong is supposed to be separate until 2047. I believe that its ‘separation’ will end before then–likely within a dozen years.
Now, partially because of its agreement with the UK, that is why China sent a message to the British. And there are provisions in that agreement for the Chinese to take military action.
Many protesters in China held up US flags recently and the Chinese government has accused the US for being behind the protests. Recently, Chinese media showed a photo of a high-ranking US official meeting with some of the protesters.
Irrespective of possible US involvement, Hong Kong has had a history of protesters concerned that its separation of systems from China is not as separate as they have expected.
Ultimately Hong Kong will be even more dominated by China–and sooner than in 2047.
Bible prophecy tells of a coming military alliance between the powers in Asia which would include China and almost assuredly Taiwan and Hong Kong (Revelation 9:13-18; 16:12-16):
12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” 16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon (Revelation 16:12-16).
The literal translation of the expression ‘the kings of the east’ in Revelation 16:12 is “the kings of the sunrise” and thus this would seem to have to include places like Taiwan, which is east of mainland China as well as a place where the sunrise happens first.
